Genius Frost
âAccording to my calculation⊠Gah. Enough of that. Sovereign Frost. Welcome to the Council of Frost. A shame that not everyone is currently present, nor do we allow certain Frosts to interact without administrative⊠I mean, Crowned privileges.â

âThe
lesser
Frosts cannot share the stage as we do. They are bumbling idiots that neither look like us, or, have the same ambition. Often, they are still at the point of fighting over control over their Branch, competing with one another. It disgusts me.â
Humancentric Frost
âIt does! Doesnât it! But whatâs even more disgusting is that we allow Frosts with machine parts in the Council! Genius Frost should know better than to merge with disgusting⊠AHHH PUTRID MACHINES!â
Humancentric Frost

The former â a Frost wearing a mantle displaying the bones of those she had slaughtered â and the latter â a Frost holding a hammer and nail â screamed before she had to be escorted back into the cosmic dust bu Enforcer Frosts.
Enforcer Frosts were three-meter-tall variants of Frost, who were built like giant refrigerators.
The Sovereign Star
âHow many of us are there?â
Joyful and Loving Frost
âAs much as there are stars, hun! Like, have you seen the night sky? For realsies, there is like, so many oh my Crown.â
Joyful and Loving Frost leaned into Frostâs face wearing a haughty expression.
Joyful and Loving Frost
âO.M.C. Have you been living under a rock? Hun, your branch is so cooked~!â
Contemptuous Frost
âHighly unlikely, as she reigns over the Main Branch as the Head.â
Half Crowned Frost
âBut without a fully formed Crown, then she lacks the adequate authorization level. That would put her on the same level as us⊠for now.â
The Half Crowned Frost approached Frost and stuck out a hand.
Half Crowned Frost
âTruce?â
The Sovereign Star
âCould I get some context behind the Crown first?â
Contemptuous Frost
âVery well. The annual Council meeting is upon us.â
* * *
The expanse quickly became populated by the âlesserâ forms of Frost. Ergo, those who did not possess a crown. Frostâs dark crown â fragmented â hovered idly above her head as she followed the Frosts to a secluded section.
Hundreds, if not thousands of Frosts existed here. She could only imagine Juryâs face if she were to see this Frost-wonderland. From the smallest Mousy Frost to the largest Titan Frost â they conversed, traded goods, or engaged in absurd activities.
Banquet Frost for instance dined on a one-kilometer-long banquet table. Sharing the table was Diet Frost, who poked at his food. Sitting beside him, playing with a coil of rope was Die-it Frost, and by them was Dyer Frost.
If one could imagine a Frost, then they likely existed somewhere here. Other anomalies like the Jury Frost â a half Jury half Frost being â also roamed this place.
Then, there was the RGB Frost, Disco Frost, Bunny Frost, Frost Frost, Maestro Frost, Iscario Frostâ
The Sovereign Star
âIscario Frost!?
Frost had to do a double take. Her hand reached down to her hip, ready to draw her handgun and blast the Iscario Frost where they stood.
Joyful and Loving Frost
âLike, woah. Judgmental much? Iscario Frost is like, a Frost that lends Moons to other Frosts for help. So cringe. Donât cut me with that edge, girl.â
Bitch, have you seen yourself?
Frost refrained from saying what was on her mind. There was no telling what the consequences were in this place. While she was lucid of the fact that it was a dream, her own vivid dreams in the past have caused her to wake up with marks.
Especially the dreams she had with Jury involved.
Half Crown Frost
âYou have a Crown yourself, and you donât know what it is?â
The Sovereign Star
âUnfortunately, this Crown came to me as a byproduct of my Qliphoth Skills.â
Contemptuous Frost
âSo you have not yet tinkered with your Branch as a whole? You must not have filled it with enough Corrupted.â
Genius Frost
âOr Light.â
Superior and Brutal Frost
âNor the essence of humanity, rendered down to a bloody sea.â
The Sovereign Star
âIâm not interested.â
Genius Frost
âAcknowledged. Then we hope you will stay out of our Branches when the time comes.â
Contemptuous Frost
âI would rather not have to fight the Moons of the Head herself, than those who merely bear the title of the Crown.â
Frost didnât know what they meant by this. When she asked, she received a prompt that said:
< Access Denied >
< Your Authorization in the Council is not high enough >
Annoying. Iâm the Amalgam, arenât I? Are you telling me that I donât have access to my own stuff? Well⊠assuming this place belongs to me?
It boggled Frostâs mind. To be fair, they were not in the Nexus anymore, so she couldnât override authorization protocols. And funnily enough, that ability was what initially led to her betrayal in Grandis.
Maybe it was a good idea to not overstep her boundaries.
* * *
They eventually reached a section where dozens of Frosts hovered in the air. They stood on floating podiums carrying the banners of their Branch. Since Frost was new here, she didnât have a banner of her own, so she was relegated off to the side.
Bewilderment couldnât begin to scratch the surface of Frostâs shock. Surely, these were Alter Frosts or Aspects of Amalgamation. But no matter how hard she tried to use Status to identify them, it returned with a simplified prompt regarding their name, flavor text, and Branch.
Spacefaring Frost
âYou are late. But, you are just in time for my hearing. Ahem. I propose a ceasefire in my world. We are nothing but peaceful, and yet why are we being targeted by Corrupted invasions?â
Pirate Frost
âArr, mate. Because I want yer booty, and ya gots lots of it.â
Lawful Frost
âSpaceships, or any kind of aircraft capable of propulsion in a vacuum is not against our treaties. Let alone with the Primuses, the Voids, and relevant Stars. But you are trespassing through territory that intersects with the domain of the Stars. Please keep travel through the Expanse, and you will see a drastic reduction in Corrupted influencing the minds of your astronauts.â
Eldritch Frost
âIt. Is. Not. The. Corrupted. That. They. Should. Fear. But. Because. They. Have. The. Branch. And. The. Flower. That. Corruption. Exists. Fear. The. Call. Of. The. Stars. And. The Void.â
Peaceful Frost
âWe shouldnât even be invading each otherâs Branches! Why canât we work together to push the Stars and evil back! Iâm sure youâre all suffering from the squeeze when the Expanse arrived at your worldâs doorstep! Let alone when the Stars first arrived!â
Megacorp Frost
âProfits margins are going to a take a hit, love. Our quarterly reviews canât afford to hit the red. Stars and their Gifts are a business. But I will say, there was a time in our world where machines made from the flowers made us prosper.â
Nihilistic Frost
âYou prospered? Hehehe⊠We still are at war with the machines⊠Artefacts capable of downing Stars, turned against their creators⊠Ahaha⊠Gods, just pick a side and end this misery. Ah, but those same deities
are
machines. HeheheâŠâ
Magical Girl Frost
âEnough about existential dread! Why wonât anyone let my Knights of Hope and No Despair into their world!? For Frostâs sakes, heaven forbid that we grant one wish!â
Magical Boy Frost
âShut up. Do you not realize that your Knights are propagating Qliphoth Corrosion and the Corruption phenomenon? When a Magical Girl loses hope, they Corrupt!â
Magical Girl Frost
âDonât lie! They donât Corrupt! Itâs just that their hearts are broken and must be refilled with hope!â
Happy Frost
âItâs so lively~!â
Horny Frost
âIâll show you lively when I ram this horn through your skull!â
Judge Frost
âOrder in the Council! One at a time! Letâs not resort to physical altercationsâ!â
Chaotic Frost
âBullseye! Take that!â
Judge Frost
âHeaven have mercy on this one, because Iâm about to send here there!â
Frost facepalmed as a brawl ensued. The fact that no one fought with weapons unintentionally made it comedic. She smiled at the sound of a squeaky toy â which came from Squeaky Frost â who bonked the Frosts with giant, inflated fists.
But she could only be humored for so long.
Frost, as the Amalgam, took center stage and snapped her fingers.
The Sovereign Star
âEnough.â
The infighting ceased in an instant, as though time had frozen. Unbearable pressure kept their heads down, and they shuffled back to their podiums with their tails tucked between their legs.
Frost was an absolute power, even amongst other Frosts.
Her namesake was not denoted by her name, but by a title.
The Sovereign Star
âWhy canât you be civilized? Do you believe fighting amongst yourselves will make amends? Use the Council as it was intended.â
The many Frosts looked at each other, then at Frost like she said something strange.
Genius Frost
âBut this
is
how itâs intended to be used.â
The Sovereign Star
âTHEN CHANGE IT!â
Genius Frost rapidly nodded her head in agreement out of fear.
The Sovereign Star
âI donât understand what the point of invading each otherâs Branches is supposed to achieve. Can someone enlighten me why we Frosts are fighting each other?â
Conquest Frost
âIt is not always intentional. Such is the effect the Collective Unconsciousness has. The Branches passes through that place like trillions of neurons. They are bound to become contaminated.â
Joyful and Loving Frost
âItâs totally like, super fine. Resources arenât unlimited hun. Besides, Guf travels through every plane, so like, we canât avoid contact. And gosh, OMC, donât get me saaaaarted on Aberrations.â
Aberrant Frost
âUltimately, it is a projection of power. Some may use it to send in Archived Corrupted. Others use it as a means to empower the Crown. It depends on who bears it.â
Suspicious Frost
â⊠Sovereign Star. Are you an enemy? As the Head, it is only fitting that you wear the Crown.â
The Sovereign Star
âI assure you that I donât want anything to do with your Branches. My hands are full enough in Elysia as is.â
The Crowned
âIs that the name of the place he went off to?â
A presence unlike her own entered the Council. And like her, she did not have a banner, nor a podium. The woman was a near splitting image of Frost, only that she had much longer hair, and eyes that were dyed with the experience of countless horrors.
The Crowned
<
Heavy is the Crown
>
< Branch:
Earth
>
The Crowned
âApologies. This is my first time visiting the Council. Itâs nice seeing the faces of those who have graciously sent their Moons into my world. Tsk tsk. My precious Moons can hardly keep up with your invasions.â
The Sovereign Star
âEarth? Youâre from Earth?â
The Crowned
âI am. Curated, and born, from the depths of Earth, in the place they mistook as Eden. A pleasure.â
The Sovereign Star
âIf you donât mind me askingââ
The Crowned
âI do not, but only this once. Because humanity has ruined themselves with their hubris, and now, they obey the laws of the Crown as to never repeat history. Their ruins are our foundations and our buried regrets. The Expanse, our battlefield with ancient Stars. Our ecosystem strives to maintain humanity, be it good or evil. Shame on you all, picking on Earth. Ah, that reminds me. Humanity is a rare existence, no? Hmhm. How many of you even have humans in your world?â
Demonic Frost
â⊠UghâŠâ
The Crowned
âArenât they so desirable? Humanity should be left to their own devices, within certain parameters.â
Somehow, Frost saw a bit of herself in the Crowned.
She had to wonder what happened to Earth.
As she asked, the Crowned spoke.
The Crowned
âBut, since the Sovereign Star has chosen to play the role of the regulator, I am deeply thankful.â
Forst didnât even do anything, and she was being thanked by this strange doppelganger.
She disappeared as quickly as she arrived, slipping into a tear in space that shrunk behind her. It was a missed opportunity for Frost, but she felt like that person would not have given her anything else.
Joyful and Loving Frost
âBooo. Such a downer. Like, who even does that? Gosh. Totally ruined the mood. Now I gotta go back and do my nails. Bummer. Like totes we coulda hung out longer guys. J.L.F signing off~!â
Cliché and Cringe Frost
âThat just happenedââ
Exterminator Frost
âHereby the combined Branch invasion of ClichĂ© and Cringe Frost?â
Unanimously:
âAgreed!â
Frost still had no idea what any of this was about. Nor did she think it was that serious. A dream was a dream, and she did find some humor in it. To begin with, how
did
she end up with such a strange dream?
Meanwhile, the other Frosts pounced on the Cliché and Cringe Frost until they were forced to retreat. She thought back to the source. The crockpot was the likely culprit. If that was the case, then an ingredient must have caused this.
It couldnât be Cer.
Neither Jury.
Not Ber.
Res is too sweet.
Healers wouldnât dare.
Joy is innocent. No doubt. No need to investigate.
Ignis is the same.
Snap is Snap.
Nav doesnât care.
She ran through hundreds of names until she arrived at one of her Alter Frosts.
âThe DreamerâŠâ
She recalled the exact words the Dreamer had said to her.
âLucky~ I added compound âXâ into the cauldron. Does it matter if it tastes good? Back to sleepy sleep.â
With the dream beginning to end, seemingly triggered by the total anarchy in the Council of Frosts â she vowed to pay the Dreamer a little visit.
Because she knew for a fact that Frost was not the only one who had such a strange dream.

A crowd of Healers gathered at the plaza. It was early in the morning. Usually, Healers were awake much later since they loved sleeping in. But this morning they were awoken by a rooster.
Which was strange.
The Floor of Amalgamation strictly prohibited the existence of roosters because they caused noise pollution.
Yet, there was a rooster crying out in the middle of the town plaza.
However, this rooster was strangely shaped like a small human.
âAaaaa⊠Waaaaaa. Iâm so sowwwwy Froooooost! Iâm da one who put in the Dreamer Essence in the cwockpwot. Sniff. Sniff⊠Iâm so sowwwyyy!â
It was the Medium Frost. She was strapped against the blade of a windmill and was made to rotate around with it. It had been over a few hundred cycles already, and her face was stained with snot and vomit.
The Healers didnât move to help.
Nor did the Moons.
âSo sheâs the reason why I had that weird dream.â
âI nearly fell asleep in the bath because of her.â
âMm! Mm! Bad Medium Frost!â
âAaaaaa! Iâm so sooooorrryyyy!â
Legend has it that the Medium Frostâs heart grew ten times larger that day, and she never caused anymore problems in the Floor of Amalgamation ever againâŠ

Nav closed a book.
She wore a proud, buzzing look in front of a small gathering of children.
âBut that is a tale for another day. Hmm. How was it?â
â⊠Can you just read us the story about Red and the big bad wolf?â
âYeah yeah. What even was that story about?â
âI want the nice Librarian lady thatâs always with miss Anna to read us one of her original books.â
âThe 1001 Nights! Please! Miss Nav! Can you read one of those tales!?â
The joy in Navâs eyes died out like a snuffed-out flame.
She stood up and retrieved a book from a nearby shelf. The children gathered in front of her rocking chair squealed with delight, expecting it to be one of Scheherazadeâs originals.
But the cover was far too grim to be a tale, and the thickness certainly did not belong to one of those 1001 short stories.
The lights suddenly switched off, and the children were plunged into darkness. A flashlight then beamed from Navâs lap, illuminating her face in a horrifying manner.
Little did the children know, was that Nav was about to read them a horror story.
