Eunuch Ling reported to His Majesty the Emperor that Lord God Hunter had brought Princess Chang.
"Let them in!"
Eunuch Ling opened the door of the Side Palace. At this moment, Director Li was standing solemnly in a corner.
Ji Youze, however, was seated at Princess Ataâs bedside, his ear close to her mouth, listening to her murmurs.
"Greetingsâ"
"Hush..."
The sound of Ji Youzhi paying his respects was interrupted by the Little Emperor.
Ji Youzhi nodded understandingly. He knew the Little Emperor was afraid his voice would disrupt Ji Youzeâs attempts to interpret Princess Ataâs murmurs.
"Sweetie! Let Father Emperor hold you!"
The Little Emperor reached out to take Xiaosuisui from Ji Youzhiâs hand.
Ji Youzhiâs eyes widened as he glared at the Little Emperor, his gaze murderous.
The Little Emperor simply grinned at him.
âGodfather Emperorâ doesnât sound nearly as intimate as âFather Emperor.â Why can she call the Empress Mother âGrandma,â but not call me âFather Emperorâ? Thinking this, he suddenly felt that âFather Emperorâ perhaps wasnât as intimate as heâd imagined either.
"Sweetie, call me âDaddyâ so I can hear it!"
The Little Emperor tried to coax Xiaosuisui.
Ji Youzhi ground his teeth in anger. He wanted to retort to the Little Emperor, but the distinction between ruler and subject was clear. For a moment, he was so furious he didnât know what to do.
"Suisui! âGodfather Emperorâ or just âGodfather.â Choose one. Donât even think about anything else."
Without thinking, Xiaosuisui blurted out, "Godfather Emperor!"
"Suisui, youâre wonderful!"
Ji Youze, not stingy with his praise, then stood up. He pointed at Princess Ata, who lay on the bed with a flushed face, muttering incoherently. "Come take a look. Have you learned the Poisonous Insect Control Technique your Second Uncle taught you?"
Upon hearing this, Xiaosuisui kicked her feet in the Little Emperorâs arms, then eagerly scrambled onto Princess Ataâs bed.
Director Li, in the corner, suddenly had an epiphany.
He KNEW it! How could a mere baby possibly know how to dispel a Gu curse? It turns out sheâs the Divine Physicianâs niece and has been learning since she was little!
Director Li thought this only because he was entirely unaware of Xiaosuisuiâs past. If he had known that Xiaosuisui had been with the Ji Family for less than half a year, his thoughts would likely have been quite different.
Just as Director Li was deep in thought, he heard the little girl on the bed exclaim, "Hey! Thereâs a little bug wriggling all around inside Princess Ata!"
"Sweetie, can you lure that Gu Insect out? If you canât lure it out, at least keep it calm so it doesnât torment Princess Ata so much."
Ji Youze stood by the bedside, speaking to Xiaosuisui.
Xiaosuisui nodded. "I have the luring agent my Second Uncle gave me last time to draw out Gu Insects. I can try, but I canât guarantee I can draw it out."
Upon hearing Xiaosuisuiâs words, everyone in the room first breathed a heavy sigh of relief. However, their expressions turned solemn once more when they heard the latter part of her sentence.
"You canât necessarily lure it out? Why is that?" Director Li asked urgently.
Xiaosuisui explained, "My Second Uncle once said that there are many kinds of Gu Insects. Each type requires a different luring agent to draw it out."
Hearing Xiaosuisuiâs words, the hope that had just risen in their hearts was immediately extinguished.
"Then what can be done?" Director Li grew anxious, cold sweat starting to bead on his forehead.
Xiaosuisui didnât answer him. Instead, she took out a small porcelain bottle from her little pouch.
She then placed it under Princess Ataâs nose. Visibly, Princess Ataâs body began to tremble violently.
"Ah... No... Donât! It hurts... Ah... Royal Father, help me! Spare Ata, please..."
As soon as Princess Ataâs cries rang out, the Little Emperor and the Ji brothers couldnât help but shudder.
