A lone Alpha and a lone Omega.
Who among them could possibly give a reasonable explanation?
Zoe Pierceâs clear eyes didnât waver. "I donât want to drag you all down, so I asked Nathan Lockwood to give me special training."
Erin Xavierâs gaze sharpened. "Special training for what?"
"Your spiritual power?"
He was now almost certain that Nathan Lockwood knew about the anomaly with Zoe Pierceâs spiritual power.
Nathan Lockwood had even helped Zoe Pierce hide it from them.
"Zoe Pierce, your spiritual power isnât quite like other Omegas."
"How is it different?" Hearing Erin Xavierâs words, Zoe Pierceâs heart skipped a beat, and she immediately started lying through her teeth. "My soothing ability is just a bit stronger than average."
âI frantically tried to recall if I had exposed myself at all.â
âI didnât use my powers when I was with Erin Xavier and Chase Shaw.â
âThe only possible slip-up was with that Xenobeast whose spiritual power suddenly went berserk. I shielded Erin Xavier.â
At such a flimsy excuse, Erin Xavier sneered. "You know Iâm not talking about your soothing ability."
"Still trying to hide it from me?"
He feigned confusion as he asked Nathan Lockwood, "Nathan, you obviously knew. Why did you hide it from us?"
Nathan Lockwood hadnât said a word since Erin Xavier started questioning Zoe Pierceâs spiritual power.
"Erin, what do you know?" From the way Erin spoke, Nathan got the feeling that what he suspected was different from the secret the other two were trying to keep.
The implication was obvious.
Nathan Lockwood was clearly trying to draw him out.
Erin Xavierâs expression soured, and he crossed his arms. "Since when can an Omegaâs spiritual power be used for other things like hers? It can even help an Alpha withstand a Xenobeastâs spiritual power attack."
It wasnât just her resisting with all her might; it was like she was projecting a shield to protect someone.
Unless you were an Alpha whose innate spiritual power specialized in that, it was simply impossible.
Zoe Pierce knew this was where she had slipped up. At the time, she had subconsciously thought that since she could block the Xenobeastâs attack, there was no need to let Erin Xavierâs spiritual power get agitated.
She never expected it would become the very thing that made him realize her spiritual power was abnormal.
Nathan Lockwood also hadnât expected Zoe Pierceâs spiritual power could be used that way.
Hearing this, he glanced over at Zoe Pierce, a flash of regret in her eyes.
Erin Xavier had been studying both their expressions, and his face darkened even more. "Youâre still hiding things from me at a time like this. Her spiritual power can do more than just that, canât it?"
The expressions on their faces clearly showed they were still hiding something.
Then, Nathan Lockwood took out his Intelligent Brain and sent a message to the small group chat they had added Zoe Pierce to earlier.
Erin Xavier looked down at the notification. It was a message telling Miles Sherman and Chase Shaw to come over.
He was even more surprised. "Miles and the others donât know either?"
What on earth was Nathan Lockwood hiding from them?
Nathan Lockwood called up a contract and projected it into the air.
"Zoe Pierce, if there are no problems, sign it."
This was what they had agreed on beforeâher future indenture contract.
Erin Xavier shut his mouth.
Zoe Pierce focused on the projection. The clauses werenât numerous, but they roughly clarified the scope of her obligations. The description of her spiritual power wasnât detailed; it didnât specify whether it was for soothing or attacking.
Instead, it was summarized in a single sentence: for the next three years, her spiritual power and she, as a whole, were not to be associated with any other Alpha teams or join any other Omega organizations that provided soothing.
In return, the team offered Zoe Pierce an enormous salary.
Only then did Zoe Pierce remember that when she first thought about working for Nathan Lockwoodâs team, the issue of money had never even crossed her mind.
âTo be honest, this makes them seem quite conscientious.â
Zoe Pierce had also seen the message in the group chat.
Without hesitation, she signed her name on the contract. The Intelligent Brainâs camera scanned her iris, and then it captured her fingerprint.
âNow it really does feel like an indenture contract.â
The contract was made in quintuplicate, with copies distributed to Erin Xavier and all the others.
With that, the dust settled.
At the same time, Miles Sherman and Chase Shaw arrived at the door and rang the bell.
Nathan Lockwood said to Zoe Pierce, "Get your strength back."
The door to the Psionic Training Room opened again, and Miles Sherman and Chase Shaw walked in, one after the other.
Miles Sherman immediately noticed the sweat on Zoe Pierce, just like the day before.
However, this sort of workout wasnât what the Psionic Training Room was for. His expression turned slightly stern, and his brow furrowed.
"Everyoneâs here." The entire Psionic Training Room was now empty except for their team.
"Nathan, hurry up," Erin Xavier urged.
The special metal wall had already pushed out a new, undamaged target.
Standing before Miles Sherman and Chase Shaw, however, it wasnât Nathan Lockwood who stepped forward, but Zoe Pierce.
The young woman was dressed in a form-fitting training uniform. Her hair was slightly damp, but her back was perfectly straight. She was like a rose in the morning dewâresilient, with a dazzling brilliance that could not be ignored.
Chase Shawâs sharp eyes darkened slightly.
Miles Shermanâs brow was also knitted tightly.
Even the usually flippant Erin Xavier now wore a serious expression.
Suddenly, a surge of spiritual power condensed in the empty hands of the young woman at the forefront. The others were stunned, and what happened next shattered their understanding of the world.
The spiritual power condensed and wove into a cage, perfectly enveloping the target.
The air was sucked out, and the amount of spiritual power the target was subjected to was projected onto the wall.
It rose sharply.
Then, the target suddenly distorted, as if unable to bear the force. With a SWISH, it cracked and shattered.
The air fell into an eerie silence. Without even turning around, Zoe Pierce could feel their gazes on her back like needles.
Spiritual power that should have belonged to an Alpha had just appeared in an Omega.
And this spiritual power technique was one everyone recognized.
It was a technique unique to Nathan Lockwood.
And Zoe Pierce had learned and used it.
Her spirit sea, which had just recovered slightly, was instantly drained. Zoe Pierce rubbed her arm as she turned around.
This time, without waiting for Nathan Lockwood to speak, Zoe Pierce confessed, "This is my spiritual power."
"Ever since my Spiritual Power Level changed, Iâve noticed that my spiritual power... itâs transformed."
"I can simulate and learn the spiritual power of any Alpha."
She glanced at Nathan Lockwood. "So far, Iâve only learned the spiritual power techniques of Ethan Grant and Nathan Lockwood."
At the sudden mention of Ethan Grantâs name, it took the others a moment to react.
Oh, right. The unlucky A-level Alpha that Chase Shaw had rescued.
Zoe Pierce had learned his technique without anyone knowing.
"That tree." Amidst the silence, Chase Shawâs deep voice spoke up. "The marks on that tree... you made them."
âIt seems it would have been exposed sooner or later.â
âIt wasnât just one person who was suspicious anymore.â
Zoe Pierce nodded. "Yes. Nathan discovered my spiritual power earlier, so we tested it in the forest."
No wonder Nathan Lockwood had suggested letting Zoe Pierce join.
The signing of the contract meant that Zoe Pierce had just exposed her biggest secret.
