Arthur White wasnât surprised.
"You donât need to learn. You just need to come find me whenever you feel lost. Iâll give you a mental massage," Arthur White said with a hearty laugh.
This made James Jarvis completely shake off his earlier gloom.
He didnât waste any more time talking with Arthur White and directly hung up the Intelligent Brain. The office fell silent at once.
But when he lay back down on the recliner, the words they had just spoken echoed endlessly in his ears.
He closed his eyes, drifting in a bizarre, half-asleep state.
On the other end, Arthur White swiveled in his chair, glanced at the moon outside the window, and also fell silent.
The person he had just messaged sent a quick reply. He had no time to sentimentally appreciate the moonlit night and quickly immersed himself in crafting a response.

ăSiren Star.ă
Zoe Pierce and the others had already turned in their mission and were now fully focused on figuring out how to get to Planet B36.
Erin Xavier found a chance to go to Nathan Lockwoodâs room alone and repeated his entire previous conversation with Zoe Pierce for him.
Nathan Lockwood quickly grasped the key points. "Chase Shaw said that Zoe Pierce has no self-awareness as an Omega!"
"She said there was a problem with her gland before!"
"Itâs already been resolved!"
Breaking down the statements, Nathan Lockwood connected these seemingly related, yet baffling, pieces of information.
âSuppose Zoe Pierceâs gland had a problem, and the one who resolved it was Miles Sherman? And Chase Shaw found out, which is why he said Zoe has no self-awareness as an Omega and is proactively guarding against Miles.â
âThis logic is flawless.â
"But hasnât Zoe Pierce always lacked that kind of self-awareness?" Erin Xavier felt Nathan Lockwood was making a mountain out of a molehill.
Nathan Lockwood ignored the doubt in Erin Xavierâs words and said, "The point isnât Zoeâs self-awareness, but that Chase Shaw thinks she was taken advantage of."
"Miles Sherman and Chase Shaw were both there. How could Zoe Pierce have been taken advantage of?" With two S-Class Alphas watching over an Omega, how could she possibly be taken advantage of?
Erin Xavier was slow on the uptake. On second thought, that was true. If she had really been taken advantage of, Miles and Chase would have settled the score on the spot. They would never have let something like that happen.
His doe-like eyes looked at Nathan Lockwood. "So... it was a loss related to an Omega and an Alpha?"
âOnly that kind of loss would make Chase Shaw wary of Miles Sherman!â
âCould it be... that Miles Sherman and Zoe Pierce did something?â He unconsciously pictured some scenes that couldnât be described in detail, and his brow furrowed instantly.
"Zoe Pierceâs gland probably had an issue, so she asked Miles Sherman for help." Nathan Lockwood ran through the possibilities a few times before finally arriving at this conclusion.
But his heart skipped a beat.
âOmega, gland, Alpha.â The three words were linked together.
âIt was like a landmine waiting to be triggered, the fuse ready to be lit by a single thought.â
Nathan Lockwood didnât dare to think too deeply. He could feel his heart tightening.
"Miles? Marked Zoe Pierce?" Erin Xavier blurted out, completely off guard, successfully detonating the landmine that should have remained buried.
It left both Alphas in the room completely stunned.
Erin Xavier quickly covered his mouth. "No way, thatâs impossible..."
âMiles marked Zoe Pierce behind their backs?â
âMarked Zoe Pierce?â
His mind kept repeating the same phrase, his brain instinctively refusing to believe it.
But once the idea entered his mind, it was as if it had been carved there with a knife, impossible to erase.
Erin Xavier had already shot up from the bed in astonishment. For a moment, he couldnât even tell if he was angry at Miles for marking Zoe, or angry at the possibility that Zoe might have seduced Miles.
"Nathan, could you have..." âGuessed wrong?â
Erin Xavierâs words died in his throat, because when he turned back, he saw that Nathan Lockwoodâs face was as white as a sheet.
His skin was fair to begin with, but now his lips seemed even more bloodless, a deathly pale.
"Nathan, are you okay?" Erin Xavier moved closer.
As he approached, Nathan Lockwoodâs clenched fist slowly relaxed. Erinâs words just now had successfully made his heart clench for a moment.
It was as if his heart had suddenly stopped, sending a sharp pang of pain through him.
"Iâm fine," he said slowly, taking a few deep breaths to calm the intense emotions from a moment ago.
Seeing that Nathan Lockwood was really alright, Erin Xavier turned around. "No, I have to go ask."
It was mainly because Nathanâs speculation was too frightening; he simply couldnât accept that answer.
Nathan Lockwood abruptly grabbed Erin Xavierâs arm. "Ask what? What do you think you can find out? Do you think Miles or Chase will tell you? If they were going to tell you, would the two of us even need to ask? Or are you planning to rip off Zoe Pierceâs barrier patch and see for yourself?"
With every sentence Nathan spoke, Erin Xavier felt his own bravado deflate a little.
Because Nathan Lockwood was right.
He could neither guarantee that Chase and Miles would tell him, nor could he bring himself to rip off Zoeâs barrier patch.
"Calmed down?" Nathan Lockwoodâs voice sounded beside his ear.
Erin Xavier irritably pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek and grunted in acknowledgement. His baby face was taut, devoid of any smile, his expression filled with annoyance.
"Things arenât as bad as you think." Nathan Lockwood released Erinâs arm. "If it were really like youâre imagining, Chase Shaw wouldnât just stand by and do nothing."
Erin Xavier found himself sighing in relief.
"Zoe Pierce hasnât shown any dependence on Miles Sherman." This meant things werenât as bad as they could be; she seemed to be like a Beta, completely unaffected by pheromones.
Erin Xavier couldnât refute that point.
It was because everything seemed so normal that he hadnât suspected a thing. If Nathan hadnât asked him to help get information out of her, he probably would have never realized what had happened.
"Her gland," Erin Xavier muttered to himself.
âItâs because her gland has a problem that things are like this.â
"So, does Zoe Pierce just need an Alphaâs pheromones?" Erin Xavier asked, looking up at Nathan Lockwood.
The truth was so close, yet it was an answer Nathan Lockwood couldnât give Erin. "I donât know either."
"This is all just our speculation," Nathan Lockwood said.
Erin Xavierâs lips formed a tight line, his molars clenched. He wanted nothing more than to rush out and demand a clear answer from Miles and Chase, but Nathan dissuaded him. "Itâs very likely the case," he said.
âAt least, he was ninety percent sure.â
âHe was also unhappy about Miles temporarily marking Zoe, but what made him even more unhappy was why Zoe never once thought to tell him about it, from beginning to end.â
âWhat on earth did I do wrong?â
Nathan Lockwood was a little lost in thought.
But Erin Xavier suddenly fell back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. "If thatâs really what happened, then thereâs really nothing to say."
Nathan Lockwoodâs expression flickered. âHow could there be nothing to say?â
"If she told all of us, would she then have to choose one of us to mark her?" Sometimes, Erinâs brain worked surprisingly well.
He stared at the ceiling. "In that case, who would she choose?"
Erin was just looking at it from a different angle. If things were really as he suspected, could he just stand by and watch as Zoe picked one of them to mark her?
