"What time is it?" Zoe Pierce asked with a yawn when she saw Miles Sherman glance at his Intelligent Brain.
Miles Sherman said, "Itâs still early. 7 AM."
Zoe Pierce hadnât gotten to sleep until nearly 2 AM last night, so he was surprised she was already awake.
The windows, which had a special coating, could be set to adjust light refraction. In sleep mode, the room was pitch-black, making it impossible to tell the time.
Hearing sheâd only slept for five hours, Zoe Pierce slowly lay back down. She was still exhausted.
âI thought Iâd have a headache,â she mused, âespecially after drinking so much.â
But in reality, she felt perfectly fine.
Lying under the covers, she looked at Miles Sherman, who was sitting up, and asked, "Where is everyone?"
Miles Sherman lay back down as well, facing her. "I locked them out."
âFor real? Would Miles really do something like that?â
She blinked, her gaze flicking to the door. It was indeed shut.
Closing her eyes, Zoe Pierce said, "Letâs sleep a bit longer, then."
Miles Sherman gave a low hum of agreement.
The Omega on the other side of the bed slowly shifted under the covers. The corners of Miles Shermanâs eyes crinkled. With a sweep of his arm, he pulled her slowly inching form directly into his embrace.
Zoe Pierceâs forehead came to rest against Miles Shermanâs chest.
She tilted her head up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
It was the first time they had been so intimate in bed, and Zoe Pierceâs initiative took Miles Sherman completely by surprise.
His breathing hitched. Her long hair, which sheâd tied back for the night, had already escaped its band while she slept.
Her ink-black hair now spilled across her back, and the Alphaâs long fingers sank into the thick locks, cupping her head.
At first, Zoe Pierce was the one leading, but the dynamic gradually shifted.
When they finally broke their tangled kiss, Miles Sherman asked in a low voice, "Not sleeping anymore?"
âWith her like this, any normal Alpha would be unable to sleep.â
Zoe Pierceâs hands were still draped around his neck. "The trip back will take half a month."
It would be absolutely impossible to be like this on the Starship.
And by that calculation, Miles Shermanâs time with her was very limited.
Zoe Pierce wanted to be closer to him.
Perhaps this could also be considered a form of compensation.
After all, by next month, she might not be by his side anymore.
Miles Sherman had already done the math, his fingers stroking her cheek. "Technically, we only have five or six days left."
That was the time they had alone on the Capital Star, and even then, there was no guarantee they wouldnât be interrupted by other matters.
âEveryone seems to be in such a hurry,â Zoe Pierce thought. âMaybe one month really is too short.â
From Nathan Lockwood at the beginning to Miles Sherman now, they all seemed to be racing against the clock to be with her.
âMaybe itâs really like Miles said... would three months be better?â
But this wasnât the time or place for such thoughts, especially with Miles Sherman right beside her.
Zoe Pierce decided to stop thinking and simply immerse herself in the intimacy she shared with him.
Her fingers slipped inside the collar of his pajamas, her fingertips caressing the powerful muscles of his shoulders and back. She easily guided his head down. "Miles, kiss me."
Miles Sherman braced a hand on the pillow beside her and, at her words, immediately met her kiss.
Her rosy, glistening lips were once again fiercely claimed.
"Will they hear us?" Zoe Pierce suddenly asked in a pause between kisses.
Miles Sherman was bare-chested, revealing his well-trained muscles. His voice was steady. "They wonât."
The room was soundproofedâthat was a basic feature. This was a suite, so the privacy of each room was guaranteed.
Besides, at this hour, he was sure no one would come to disturb them.
It was too early.
âPerhaps the others trusted him enough,â Miles Sherman thought, âcertain that the most he would do was sleep beside her without any ulterior motives.â
And if Zoe Pierce hadnât started things, thatâs exactly what he would have done.
But she had taken the initiative, and Miles Sherman couldnât possibly let her perform a solo act. He adored her too much for that.
Wanting to be intimate with the person you adoreâthat was only human.
He couldnât always be the restrained, proper captain, the eldest son worthy of everyoneâs trust.
A few days was enough time for the marks on their bodies to slowly fade.
But now was the perfect opportunity to reapply them.
Fresh love bites were once again easily branded onto her skin.
"Miles, I want to touch you." Lying back on the bed, Zoe Pierce rested her hand on his chest. Her fingertip teased a nipple, making his throat tighten.
The early morning was an inherently intimate time.
Especially for a lone Alpha and Omega.
Just from their kissing, she could feel his arousal.
Zoe Pierce had phrased it as if asking for his opinion, but in reality, she acted before he could even speak.
She had only ever seen such things in movies from back on Earth, and even then, they were always pixelated.
She had never experienced it firsthand.
And since coming to this ABO world, her life had been as innocent as could be. All her boundaries were slowly being pushed back through her relationships with Nathan Lockwood and the others.
Now, Zoe Pierce simply wanted to make Miles Sherman happy.
That being said, even now, Zoe Pierce didnât dare to glance down, keeping her eyes fixed on Miles Sherman.
Her hand had merely touched it.
Miles Sherman found it difficult to hold Zoe Pierceâs gaze. In a rare moment of avoidance, he buried his face in her shoulder before rolling completely onto his back and shielding his eyes with his arm.
The thin blanket was draped over them.
Miles Sherman murmured, "Please, donât look at me..."
Zoe Pierce didnât know where to look. She was even more nervous than Miles Sherman now, only daring to stare at his jawline and his Adamâs apple.
Her soft hands moved clumsily, causing the thin blanket to billow and settle, rising in one spot only to fall again.
She hadnât expected Miles Sherman to be so sensitive.
âShe had only copied a few moves from the movies. Had it been ten minutes?â
Then she saw his back tense and heard his suppressed groan. The next moment, the blanket was thrown aside, and the Alpha turned his back to her completely.
Then she saw Miles Sherman grab some tissues from the headboard.
She hid under the covers, suddenly grateful for the darkness in the room. If the lights had been on, she probably wouldnât have had the courage.
"Zoe..." Miles Sherman suddenly said.
Zoe Pierce swallowed nervously, hesitating for some unknown reason before answering, "Yes?"
After cleaning himself up, Miles Sherman turned back to her. "Last night... I heard your conversation with Erin."
The memory of the suggestive comments sheâd made in front of everyone last night made Zoe Pierce cringe with embarrassment.
And for Miles to bring it up now made it even worse.
Her ears, which hadnât been red before, now felt like they were on fire.
"I want to make you happy, too..."
Erin Xavierâs pheromones hadnât yet faded from her glands, so Miles Sherman could only engage in more superficial acts. He didnât ask how far Zoe Pierce and Erin had gone; he could easily assess his own limits in this situation.
He focused on the easiest way to bring her body pleasure as well.
She had just touched him. Now, it was his turn. Perfectly fair.
