That night, Zoe Pierce finally learned what it was she and Nathan Lockwood hadnât yet done.
When the group grew tired of the private beach, Chase Shaw suggested they go out and explore.
Harvestfall was considered a resort planet, though it was less famous than the more well-known ones. Plus, many areas had been bought up as private domains, barring public entry.
After just a few days with Miles Sherman and the others, Zoe Pierce felt like she couldnât take it anymore. The intense gazes of the Alphas always made her want to flee.
Especially when contrasted with Nathan Lockwoodâs invigorated demeanor, the othersâ probing gazes made her feel like she was about to snap.
So, the moment Chase Shaw made the suggestion, Zoe Pierce immediately agreed.
With her agreement, the outing was basically a sure thing.
None of them were in the same position as before, when they could wander around Siren Star or Planet B36 without a care.
Donning hats and sunglasses, they concealed most of their faces.
Their attire was even more casual and summery. Zoe Pierce chose a resort-style, gauzy sundress, while Nathan Lockwood and the others wore simple short-sleeved T-shirts and shorts.
This style of dress was completely different from their public image from the exhibition match and photo ops.
No one would make the connection at a glance.
And indeed, as they shopped, ate, and drank, no one suspected that they were some of the most famous people in the Federation.
Still, passersby couldnât help but take a second glance. Even without seeing their faces, just looking at their physiques and auras made people wonder what these Alphas and this Omega looked like.
They were a little too outstanding.
Their physiques.
They were brimming with vitality and sex appeal.
At first, Zoe Pierce grew tense when she noticed people looking, but after realizing no one had found them out, she gradually became bolder, even starting to chat with a shop owner.
"Iâve seen quite a few little groups like yours out and about recently, but youâre the best-looking ones yet," the owner said with a chuckle, handing Zoe Pierce a shaved ice.
Zoe Pierce casually played along, "Oh really? Thatâs great to hear. So, can you give me a discount?"
The owner chuckled. "But youâre still a little ways off from Miles Sherman and his team, so the most I can do is round down the price for you."
Zoe Pierce couldnât help but laugh, looking back at her companions who now looked rather speechless.
Aaron Xavier raised an eyebrow. "Just like that, youâve decided weâre inferior to them?"
The owner, hands on his hips, looked them over in their big sunglasses. "Darn right. The main thing is they brought glory to the Federation. Besides, there isnât a single ugly person on that team. Each one is more handsome than the last. Even their Omega is prettier than other Omegas."
Heâd seen plenty of Alphas in sunglasses lately. They all had decent physiques, but there was one catch: the moment they took off their sunglasses, their appeal dropped drastically.
Hearing this group actually trying to measure up to Miles Sherman and his team, he quickly waved his hands. "Itâs not that Iâm trying to talk you down, kids. Just compare yourselves to normal people. Why do you have to go up against Miles Shermanâs team?"
Chase Shaw let out a soft chuckle.
Aaron Xavier asked, "So whose looks do you like the most?"
The owner didnât overthink it, just treating it as idle chatter. "Personally, my favorite is still Chase Shaw."
"As a guy, of course I prefer Chase Shawâs type." He made a gesture. "Tall and strapping."
As he gestured, Aaron Xavier pushed Chase Shaw forward. "What about this? Not good enough?"
The owner paused, looking over the equally tall, tan-skinned Alpha. His tone was uncertain. "Heâs... not bad, I guess. Just a little bit short of Chase Shaw."
He repeated, as if trying to convince himself, "Just a little bit."
"Youâre already pretty impressive."
Aaron Xavier was on the verge of bursting into laughter. He gave the owner a thumbs-up. "Youâve got a good eye. Top-notch."
Nathan Lockwood and Miles Sherman couldnât help but smile.
Chase Shawâs own lips couldnât hold a straight line. He cleared his throat and hummed an affirmation. "Iâll keep working on it, then."
âThese guys were too much.â
Standing to the side, Zoe Pierce had to pinch her arm to stifle her laughter.
After they left the ownerâs stall, Zoe Pierce looked back and could still see the owner staring after Chaseâs back.
He looked confused and uncertain.
A smile was still playing on her lips as she turned back, about to say something, but her eyes inadvertently caught a glimpse of a personâs profile.
Her expression changed in an instant. Without thinking, she followed the figure with her spiritual power.
She stopped in her tracks.
"Whatâs wrong?" Miles Sherman, who was standing beside her, asked in a low voice when he saw her stop so abruptly.
Zoe Pierce pointed northeast. "Arthur White."
Everyone who heard the name immediately looked over.
Instead of flamboyant red hair, they saw a Beta man with short black hair. He didnât look particularly strong, just an ordinary man standing by the roadside. Then, as if he sensed something, he pulled his hat down and turned to leave.
They had all seen that face in photographs.
Seeing that he was about to slip out of sight, Zoe Pierce frowned and followed him.
Nathan Lockwood and the others exchanged a look and immediately followed behind Zoe Pierce.
But Arthur White seemed to have realized he was being followed. He found a fork in the road to make his escape, and if Zoe Pierceâs spiritual power werenât stronger than a normal personâs, she would have lost him.
The marketplace was jam-packed with people, making it exponentially harder for Zoe Pierce and the others to pursue a single person.
Soon, Zoe Pierce stopped the chase. "I canât sense him anymore. He got into a hovercar."
A vehicle was, of course, faster than they were on foot.
Unless they used their mecha here.
But the marketplace was a restricted zone. If they were to use a mecha here, theyâd be hauled off to the police station in under a minute, which would only be a bigger waste of time.
She frowned deeply. Miles Sherman looked at the map on his Intelligent Brain. "Get someone to pull the surveillance footage and report this to Director Quinn. Our first priority is to find him."
Even if Arthur White had nothing to do with the death of Zoe Pierceâs parents, the ore from Planet B36 was definitely connected to him.
Zoe Pierce looked at Chase Shaw. "Does Harvestfall have any mineral resources?"
âWhy would we see Arthur White here?â
Chase Shaw did a quick search. "There is one type of mineral, named Harvestfall Ore. The yield isnât very high."
It doesnât even have much value for use in mechanical weapons.
"Itâs unclear if theyâve discovered some new function for this ore through experimentation."
After this incident, the groupâs desire to remain at the market instantly evaporated.
Once they were in the hovercar, a call was immediately placed to Director Quinn.
Arthur White had been on the authoritiesâ radar for a long time, but no one had ever been able to get ahold of him.
As soon as Director Quinn heard the news, his expression turned grave.
"Understood. Iâll report this to the Military at once." His gaze shifted to Miles Sherman.
Miles Sherman said in a solemn voice, "Director Quinn, I will also report this on my end."
Director Quinn nodded and ended the call.
The Military pursuing Arthur White was one thing, but coordinating the work of various government departments was a task for Miles Sherman.
After all, no oneâs background was more impeccable or well-connected than Miles Shermanâs.
