Zoe Pierce noticed that ever since that time in the Starship bathroom, Nathan Lockwood had learned to pull her away for some time alone, even when everyone else was around.
In Nathanâs words, it was because he only wanted to be with her.
But their circumstances didnât allow the two of them to be alone.
So he had to create those opportunities himself.
And each time, he would lead her away openly, not caring what Chase Shaw and the others thought when they saw them leave.
The dorm room was spacious, even for two people.
Nathan Lockwood pressed Zoe into his embrace and kissed her.
Half their time together had already passed, but apart from the intimacy of the first few days, they hadnât had another chance.
Now that things had settled down, the worries that had been weighing on them finally came to an end.
No matter how broad-minded Nathan Lockwood was, he no longer wanted to watch Aaron Xavier and Chase Shaw try to win Zoeâs favor right in front of him.
So, the moment Mr. Jacobs left, he paid the other two no mind.
But they had only been kissing for a moment when Nathan and Zoe suddenly stiffened and looked at each other.
"Mr. Jacobs is back."
He had come back.
Nathanâs arm was still around Zoeâs waist, and he didnât let go.
"Mm."
Nathan lowered his head, burying his face in her neck and kissing her skin slowly. "What should we do?"
Mr. Jacobs was on his way upstairs now. It would take him less than five minutes to reach their floor.
Zoeâs spiritual power could keep Mr. Jacobs from discovering them.
But there were only a few of them in the entire building. Two people suddenly disappearing would be very conspicuous.
Zoe felt that Nathan had become a bit clingy.
At times, he even seemed a lot like Aaron Xavierâa little unreasonable.
She gave him a push. "Donât..."
Nathan pressed his forehead against her neck. He finally lifted his head after a long moment. "I wish I could just hide you away."
âEven though weâre staying in this dorm for safety, itâs such a nuisance.â
He took a deep breath, opened the door, and went to the room where Chase Shaw and the others were before Mr. Jacobs arrived.
Sure enough, Mr. Jacobs came up soon after.
Zoe was still using the air purifier to cleanse the room of Nathanâs lingering scent.
When Mr. Jacobs arrived, he found Zoe in Nathan Lockwoodâs room, while Nathan and the other Alphas were in her room.
A strange feeling flickered in his mind, but he didnât dwell on it. He simply explained, "The lecture courses will start in a few days. Zoe Pierce will attend a few classes with the main group first, so we can see how that goes."
Between giving Zoe private lessons and having her attend class with everyone else, they had ultimately chosen the latter.
This would set a precedent. The courses werenât just theoretical ones on spiritual power; they also covered subjects like tactics and geography.
Since this concerned her, Zoe had no choice but to come out of the room.
The moment she stepped out, Mr. Jacobs smelled Nathan Lockwoodâs pheromones.
There was also the scent of air freshener.
It emanated faintly from the room and from Zoe herself.
This was Nathanâs room, so it was normal for it to have a scent. And since Zoe had been inside, it was also normal for some of it to have rubbed off on her.
He didnât pay any mind to such a small detail; his thoughts simply didnât go in that direction.
Zoe, however, felt like she was fooling herself. She could clearly smell the tea-like fragrance on her own body.
But since Mr. Jacobs didnât say anything, she just acted as if everything was normal.
Naturally, Zoe had no objections.
In the end, they had been interrupted, and their moment had fizzled out.
ăMidnight.ă
Zoe was lying in her dorm room when she suddenly sensed someone standing at her door.
She sat bolt upright and looked toward the door.
With a somewhat resigned look, she got up, slipped on her shoes, and walked to the entrance.
Sure enough, when she opened the door, someone was standing there quietly.
Who else could it be but Nathan Lockwood.
âI knew he wouldnât just let it go.â
The two of them entered the room. Zoe glanced at the narrow bed, then at Nathanâs tall frame.
Both were wearing light pajamas. It would be all too easy for sparks to fly.
But this wasnât the place, and neither of them was so unrestrained.
Nathan scooped Zoe up by her waist, took a few steps, and placed her on the bed. "Get some sleep. Donât worry, I wonât do anything."
With two people suddenly squeezed into the narrow bed, they were pressed tightly together.
She could feel the Alphaâs breath on her neck, his arm wrapped around her waist.
Her back was completely covered by his embrace, and his body carried a reassuring scent.
"Letâs move out in a few days." Nathan knew Zoe wasnât asleep and whispered in her ear.
His intentions were as plain as day.
Zoe pinched him in annoyance. "Nathan Lockwood."
She wouldnât have been surprised if Aaron had said that, but now Nathan was saying it too.
Nathan gave a low chuckle. "Iâm not exactly a saint, you know."
âTheyâre all like starving ghosts.â
âDesperate to wring her completely dry.â
"Iâll prepare a house with the highest possible security. Itâll be just the two of us there." Nathanâs arm tightened around her. "Just us, every day."
Zoe thought it sounded a little twisted.
"You told me what you thought of Aaron today, didnât you? What about me?"
"When did you start to like me, even just a little?"
"Did you hate me at the beginning, too?" Perhaps it was because heâd been provoked by the situation with Aaron earlier, but Nathanâs questions were quite detailed.
If she had to be honest, Zoe couldnât resist taking a jab at him. "Didnât you warn me at the very beginning?"
Anyway, in the beginning, she hadnât had a good impression of any of them, except for Miles Sherman.
Sheâd thought they were all a bit narcissistic.
Each one so full of himself, acting like every Omega would automatically fall for them.
âThere was a bit of personal resentment mixed in with that thought.â
After all, the Zoe of back then might have thought that, but now that she was so intimate with them, all she could say was...
âFamous last words.â
âI couldnât resist the temptation at all.â
âIâm not a good person. Back on Earth, Iâd be considered a total player, a maneater.â
âBut who could possibly resist this kind of temptation?â
âHer words back then had come back like a boomerang, hitting not just them, but her as well.â
"Oh, so you hold a grudge." Nathan remembered saying that only when they first met; he hadnât said a single harsh word to her since.
But Zoe still remembered it crystal clear.
"Is there nothing you like about me?" Nathan pulled her tighter against his chest. "Not even now?"
âThen Iâve really failed.â
Zoe suddenly turned her head and cupped Nathanâs face. "What are you trying to compete over? Werenât you the first one to discover my abilities?"
"That wasnât me being good to you," Nathan said. "I just suddenly feel like I havenât done enough."
Love meant constantly feeling like you owed the other person. Compared to Chase Shaw, he felt like he hadnât been able to do much for her.
Zoe suddenly sighed. "You all say that. But itâs not like that."
The days filled with emotional support, their determination to help her find the truthâthat was all a form of love.
