Chapter 213: Chapter 202 Shark-Headed Car Innovation! (3/4)
"I understand."
As Master Gossay deflected the cannonball, the captain, his face ashen, nodded vigorously after receiving Ianâs message.
Knowing that the less energy the Master had to expend, the higher their chances of survival, he was certainly aware of this.
In the midst of the thunderous storm, the captain navigated the ship in silence, trying his best to make Reverence Lightâs movements unpredictable or to position it in the enemyâs firing blind spots.
After a short period of retreat, the enemy realized that Master Gossay could not attack them while dealing with their cannonballs at the same timeâif so, they no longer feared Master Gossayâs power.
After a brief pause, they resumed firing.
Thunder cut across the sky, tearing open the dark clouds, while the roars of the sea and the barrage from the pirate flagship tore through the waves.
Amidst the flashes of the Alchemical Cannon, the rapidly hurtling cannonballs targeted the Reverence Light directly.
Firing from kilometers away, especially amidst heaving and tossing waves, cannonballs were unlikely to hit their target, but they could still force Reverence Light to slow down or change courseâattacks from different angles from the entire fleet indeed brought considerable trouble to Master Gossay. He certainly could block all the attacks, but watching the shells whistling towards the ship was torture for everyone on board.
Yisen Gardâs face was deathly pale, but Ian knew that the other wasnât scared of the cannonballs... His peerâs Sublimation Skills were actually quite adept, and the Origin Quality within him was considerable. Although he couldnât compare to Ian, he was well above the theoretical average.
He wasnât afraid of the cannonballsâ onslaught. The young man could see that this little lord from the Ellen Family was actually in sorrow.
âHe didnât know which member of his family actually wanted him dead so badly that they even hired an entire fleet of Elf Pirates to attack in such weather.
It was difficult to accept, no matter who it was, even if it were those few with whom he already had strained relationships.
His wavering lasted only a brief moment. Minutes later, Yisen Gard lifted his head, his tone resolute, "This wonât do."
"Right now, theyâre just using the cannons from afar to drain the teacherâs energy, to completely suppress our capacity to counterattackâwe must figure out a way to strike back."
"I have an idea, Ian, if we join forces, your water gun..."
Clearly, this young lord wasnât simply the type to be on the receiving end of revenge; looking at his expression, he obviously was riled up by the pirates and was determined to find an opportunity to hit the enemy hard.
"You canât act."
But Ian shook his head, "Donât forget the instructionsâyou canât reveal your Origin Quality and Sublimation Skills. Although Iâm also curious about how you plan to work with me to attack the enemy several kilometers away... Things havenât reached that stage yet."
While saying this, Ian could even be described as calm and composed, "Actually, Iâve anticipated this situation and thus had prepared a response to it long ago."
At his words, both Yisen Gard and Master Gossay turned their heads to gaze at him, their eyes filled with confusion and bewilderment.
It wasnât that they didnât trust Ian; everyone simply wanted to broaden their horizons.jpg
Then Ian spoke.
"Charge!"
His voice wasnât loud, but the power of a Wave Singer doesnât correlate with the volume of the voice; it depends on the amount of Origin Quality called upon,
So in the nearby seas, a silvery fin shone brightly under the lightning-flashed sky!
And then, under the astonished gazes of all the pirates and Exploration ship crew, a fat, robust, and silvery-gleaming giant shark, led by a racing surge of waves...
Finally slammed fiercely into the bottom hold of the wooden ship!
"Again?!"
"Whatâs happening now?!"
The pirates felt a familiar jolt on their flagship, followed by a violent tremor that spread throughout the vessel. Captain Andor was nearly thrown from his seat and this time, he could confirm without a doubtâit was that damn Ironclad Shark hitting them again!
"Is this never going to end?!" He finally steadied himself, angrily straightening his hat, "This time was an accident, there definitely wonât be a third..."
"Boom!!!!!"
Before he could finish swearing, guided by Ian, the Ironclad Shark joyfully circled around and once again forcefully smashed through the rear cabin of the living wood ship.
This time, there were two huge holes, one in the front and one in the back.
Fortunately, the living wood shipâs waterproofing was indeed strong. With the crewâs utmost efforts to make repairs, the gaps were quickly sealed, but the significant amount of water on the flagship still affected the fleetâs overall speed.
After the second collision, the first mate urgently scattered Tendril Nets throughout the surrounding sea area. They are similar to torpedoes, entities that can wrap around vessels and corrode the holdâan âactive water mineâ suitable for dealing with Magical Beasts. Should the Ironclad Shark dare to come close, it would definitely get entangled.
To their fury, after scattering over thirty expensive Tendril Mines that cost more than 5 Talle each, the Ironclad Shark stopped showing up!
In a storm, these nets wouldnât be effective for long as they could be blown apart, making them difficult to recover and reuse like in shallower waters.
A big loss, this was a complete and utter loss.
But then again.
The sudden ramming by the Ironclad Shark undoubtedly took the pirates by surprise, but after all, they had already been hit once before. Itâs not that they were incredibly incredulous now; it was more a sense of relief that âas expected, it cameâ.
Many pirates, including the captain, had been on guard all along.
On the other hand, aboard the Reverence Light, whether it was Master Gossay or Yisen Gard, the captain or the other Sublimators, all could be said to have their eyes wide open, astounded as they looked towards Ian.
Whether it was a genteel disbelief, a common gaping shock or the ordinary personâs âholy shitâ... thatâs another story.
In any case, it was extremely baffling.
"An Ironclad Shark..."
Master Gossay murmured in a puzzled tone, then slowly turned his head to look at the smiling white-haired youth.
He tapped his cane, as if doubting his own eyes, "Ian, the collision you just mentioned... were you directing this Ironclad Shark to attack?"
"Yes."
Ian lied without hesitation, "This is my animal ally, with whom Iâve been acting in concert for a long time... back when I was probably only eight years old, I met this Shark and helped it remove a poisonous fang from a wound in its tail, and it has helped me a lot since then, exploring these waters."
"Long before I became a Wave Singer, I was already familiar with this area and the methods of underwater movement under its guidance, so when I became a Wave Singer, I quickly mastered the tricks of underwater combat."
Ian spoke eloquently, revealing the romantic story of a boy and a solitary Ironclad Shark depending on each other, roaming the waters together. They explored the abyss, hunted in the coral reefs, once repelled a colony of sea otters that threatened a clam bed, and even actively ambushed a Tidal Fish Swarm in an attempt to hunt The Fish King...
In short, Ianâs words made everyone pause, feeling incredulous yet believing the unlikelihood of it.
âBecause it was so unreasonable, it didnât seem like a made-up story.
âOnly reality can be this outrageous!
Overall, the Ironclad Sharkâs appearance and the double ramming severely slowed down the entire Pirate Fleetâthe flagship might be able to cope with this little king of the sea under prepared circumstances, but in the midst of a pursuing firefight, a Magical Beast at the First Power Level Peak was enough to throw the entire battlefield into chaos.
