Chapter 329: Skewed Scale [Bonus 4/4]
"What happened?" Kaelion asked, noticing the faint frown on Leoâs face.
Leo turned the phone screen toward him, but Kaelion didnât find anything abnormalâonly a list of various secret realms and their locations.
"Whatâs there to frown upon?"
"Huh? Donât you see it?" Leo scrolled the screen in front of Kaelion as the list of secret realms never seemed to end, the entries climbing into the thousands.
"So?" Kaelion asked, confused.
"What âso?â? Why are there so many secret realms?"
"So many? Thatâs common in my opinion," Kaelion said with a bored expression, though in his mind, he confirmed something.
So this bastard and Lily are indeed from the outskirts...
They are the real deal who have the blessings of heaven then. Those stupid siblings of mine are really going to cry tears of blood after seeing both of them in action,
Kaelion thought.
Kaelion sighed and began to explain.
"You might have underestimated the no. of worlds that were destroyed. There are a lotâenough to make your mind go blank."
"As for the reason secret realms are so many in number, itâs because conquering them isnât easy. The world blocks the interference of higher-level beings, and the equal-level beings are very few who would want to risk their lives just to get some slaves and resources."
"And on top of the existing ones, new ones keep popping up. From my estimate, nearly 10,000 new secret realms appear every day throughout the Empire region, out of which only 300 are conquered. I guess now you might understand why there are so many."
Leo nodded slowly, but then a thought surfaced in his mind.
"Wait, if itâs that much, donât you think many people from secret realms would have already come out and started to live in Skadrial on their own?"
Kaelion gave a casual shrug.
"Whatâs there to think? Itâs a fact. Just so you know, 10,000 realms every day are inside the Empire. Donât forget that the Human Empire only constitutes about 10% of the whole world."
Hearing Kaelionâs words, Leo was left hanging with wide eyes. The same went for Lily and Miho.
What the fuck is this scale...?
Leo shook his head.
"Just to clarify one thing," he said, looking at Kaelion, who turned attentive.
"The distance that we travelled... like from our home city, Kendruâwe travelled nearly 50,000 kilometres to reach our Trial city, Thalor. From there, we travelled another 60,000 kilometres to reach the academy. The area between that travel... does it all fall within the Human Empireâs boundary?" Leo waited for the answer with bated breath.
For reference, the distance around the Earthâs EquatorâLeoâs previous worldâwas just 40,075 km.
"Yeah, it should be. Unless some moron Demon or Elven leader decided it was a good place to build a stronghold, itâs all under Human Empire territory."
Leo sucked in a deep breath.
"So, if we cover the whole distance of the Human Empire... how much will that be?"
Kaelion placed a hand on his chin and looked up as he tried to estimate.
"Aurelius Beast Academy, as to where it is situated, can be considered a bordering region... if we see it like that, then..." He muttered under his breath. "Half million... 1 million... hmm..."
"I would say it should be comfortably 5 million kilometres of horizontal distance from one end to another, though it keeps changing due to loss and gain of territory."
But Kaelion had already lost Leo when his estimate crossed half a million.
Motherfucker, thatâs not even 10%!!?
he screamed inwardly.
How big is this world exactly?!
"Leo?" Lily called, noticing the tension on his face.
"Fuuuâ!" Leo exhaled loudly, blowing away the unnecessary thoughts.
"Alright. Back to work."
Leo tapped on his phone screen and filtered through the options. While filtering, he even caught a glimpse of a Low Gold-Tier Secret Realmâwhich would house a being of Low 8-star rank.
Who the fuck are they even afraid of that they donât want to come out of the little realm?
After filtering further and specifying the northeast directly, he was left with 36 Wood Elf Secret Realms.
Leo entered the keywordâFrozen Waterfall, and now only one secret realm remained.
He promptly booked it for today for 4 people for 50,000 AC each, and it was confirmed almost immediately.
"Alright! Let go!"
As they flew toward the location on Brokâs eagle, Leo and the group spotted various small and large territories, some unimaginable natural terrains, and even beast lairs scattered across the land below.
"This is a lake?" Leo muttered when Kaelion casually said that the lake they were flying overâspanning nearly 50 kilometresâwas small.
"Yeah, small lake. I have seen 100 times larger."
"Bastard, thatâs literally a sea."
Kaelion sneered.
"Donât talk to me when you havenât seen what a sea looks like," he scoffed.
"Now youâd go and say a 3,000-kilometre-wide water body is an ocean. Now thatâs what we call a proper lake."
Leo felt a headache forming. It looked like his common sense from Earth needed to be altered in order to fit this world.
Yeah... like adding three zeros to literally every number... Wait, what about the speed of light?
Leo jokingly thought, though it still remained a grey area.
After travelling nearly 300 kilometres, the region began to elevate as they spotted a sky-skewing mountain on the distant horizon, its massive peak completely snowcapped.
"Thatâs Barfila Mountain of the Northeast!" Brok shouted from the front.
"A medium-sized 90,000-foot mountain filled with snow and flying-type beasts. Donât even think of wandering there by mistake, or else a 5-star beast might pick you up to feed their kids," Brok added, lightening the mood with his joke.
"But I guess we are lucky today since our destination is far behind it!"
Brok pointed toward a spot far beyond the mountain area, but Leo kept staring in the mountainâs direction.
This world is fucking messed up... Itâs like 3 Mt. Everests stacked on top of each other. And itâs fucking medium? Whatâs the tallest then?
At that moment, Lily finally pulled her eyes away from the breathtaking scenery and took out the warm clothes she had bought.
"Leo! Letâs wear them. I can feel the environment getting colder from now."
Leo nodded as everybody put on clothes over their existing ones. Even Brok seemed to be prepared.
They wore thick wool coats over their existing clothes and armour, the fabric heavy and slightly frilled at the cuffs. Dark scarves were wrapped loosely around their necks, and sturdy leather boots shifted against the eagleâs broad back. Plain knitted caps covered their hair, shielding them from the biting cold they would soon face.
Everybody wore their signature colourâLeoâs was black, Lilyâs was pink, Mihoâs a combination of white and red. As for Leon, it was violet.
Brok glanced at the location on his phone and soon spotted the frozen waterfall below.
