Chapter 377: Biological Immortality and Absolute Immortality
Oh shit...
Leo, Kaelion, and Tavian all grimaced internally at Katherineās question.
Answering her would be betraying Brantās trust, and not answering would put them in an uncertain situation, which would be bad.
Katherine saw their expressions and knew they would hesitate to answer, because boys were boys. So she simply turned toward Lily.
"Lily, I sensed him around here. That bastard hid his presence before I could reach him. And seeing this crashed ceiling, I know he came here. Now, tell me where he is. He is in for a good lesson."
Unlike Leo or Kaelion, Lily didnāt have any restraint. She simply pointed toward Brantās location.
"In the opposite room, behind a thin wall made of reinforced earthen material."
"Damn..." Leo muttered under his breath.
"No!" Brantās distant, suppressed voice was heard the moment Lily revealed his location without a thought.
But Katherine had already moved while the group was still in the damaged room. A loud noise of a wall breaking echoed through the corridor, followed by Brantās desperate pleas for forgiveness and a few ābeatingsā which were not quite ābeatingsā.
By the time Leo and the group reached the room, it seemed Brantās lesson was already complete. His head was buried into the floor, spiderweb cracks spreading across the surface.
"Just try and do this idiotic thing again, and I will personally make sure you cannot walk for days," Katherine said, dusting her hands lightly.
By now, Brant was relatively healed, but a new swollen patch had formed over his cheekāprobably from a punchāand a bruise had appeared on his forehead from being plastered into the floor.
Leo didnāt try to intervene and simply got busy repairing the damage while Katherine started doing something else.
"Lily, I will be troubling you until this storm settles. I need to attend to this fool of a man that I married."
"Itās no problem, teacher. Use whatever you need; I will personally bring anything you request."
"Thereās no need for such trouble, just let me use this place," Katherine replied. The next moment, three different elemental energies began to revolve around her hand.
Wood, metal, and earth.
She used them to create a large and sturdy bed within seconds. It was a very refined and exquisite bed that could even be considered fit for kings. All the girls were momentarily entranced by her masterful work as Katherine proceeded to grow woollen bedding that seemed to have calming and healing properties.
After that, she gently placed Brant on it with the help of some vines and then pressed her hand over his chest.
A massive amount of vitality began to flow through her hand into Brantās body, and his wounds completely sealed shut. With a flick, she changed his clothes into proper ones and made the torn ones disappear. After that, her fingers hovered over the half-burned skin mask on his face.
"Been so long since I saw your handsome face," she muttered with a reminiscing, pleasant smile. Nowhere was her serious persona; it had been replaced by a caring and amiable expression.
Everybody watched from the side as Katherine gently pulled off the mask and burned it away. What was revealed was something nobody was ready for.
Leo, Kaelion, and Tavian were instantly taken aback by the handsome face that appeared. Gone were the scars and freckles; a completely smooth and youthful tone of skin greeted them.
"Didnāt know he was this young..." Leo muttered, but Tavian quickly corrected him.
"Professor Brantās name has been famous for more than a century; he isnāt young at all."
Kaelion nodded.
"Then how...?" Leo asked, shocked, still examining the face.
It was then that Katherine spoke.
"Itās Biological Immortality." The words were like a lightning bolt that instantly captured the studentsā attention.
Katherine had already sensed the surroundings; only Leo and the group were present. The others were Tavian, Miho, and Sylrael. But they were fineāMiho would naturally become her family, Tavian was from a secret family, so he would naturally know this secret, and Sylrael wasnāt any sort of threat with her slave status.
It seemed Brant was also awake as he sneakily opened his eyes to observe Leoās reaction.
"You said you would die of old age before you finished travelling the world, right? Congratulations, because there is a way to attain permanent youth, and you will never grow old. Haha."
Slap!
"Sleep, and donāt wake up until I am finished," Katherine said after lightly slapping him.
"Yes maāam..." Brant obeyed and closed his eyes.
"So where was I? Yes, Biological Immortality. And do you want to know how one attains that?" Katherine asked, already knowing the answer as the students nodded vigorously.
"Simple. Just grow strong."
"...."
"Really, thatās the only answer," Katherine said after seeing their plain reactions.
"Tell me, whatās a 5-star individual called?" Katherine asked as she moved and sat beside Brantās head, placed his head on her lap, and brought out a spoonful of something that she began to feed him.
"A Commander... but how is it related to immortality... er... biological immortality?" Kaelion asked. He corrected himself because biological immortality and immortality were two different things.
"Yeah, and why so?" Katherine asked again.
"Isnāt it because it is a very respectable and considerable rank and strength to achieve?" Kaelion replied. For now, the others simply listened, since Kaelion was obviously more knowledgeable and could ask better questions.
"So... you imply that a 4-star being, able to change the surrounding environment, isnāt a respectable position? Just to point it out, a Peak 4-star being is five thousand times stronger than a normal being. Why isnāt it given a respectable name then?"
At that, Kaelion remained silent.
Katherine giggled softly.
"Itās restricted knowledge, only available to people who have achieved that strength level. But since most of you are already close to it, thereās no harm in telling you." She paused and looked around the room.
"Itās because 4-star and below is the realm of mortals. The moment you reach 5-starācongratsāyou have taken your first step into the realm of immortals, and the first step in achieving the minimum required bodily constitution that makes you immortal in some sense."
But she looked again at Leo and the group, then laughed after seeing the heavy frowns on their faces.
