"Itās Wei Xunās voice, theyāve finally returned!"
"Open the door quickly, Iām starving!"
"Yes, hopefully thereās bread today; Iāve been eating instant noodles these past few days and Iām about to throw up!"
A cacophony of noise ensued, and soon the heavy door swung open, revealing a crowd of unfamiliar faces before Chen Feng.
There were men and women, including some elderly and children. Unlike those lucky survivors outside, these peopleās clothes were relatively clean, and their faces showed no obvious negative emotions aside from a pallor from lack of sunlight.
Theyāve been well-kept.
Chen Feng used this term to describe these people.
As the apocalypse had just arrived, they were immediately protected by Wei Xun and the glasses-wearing man. Lack of clothing led to extending a hand, and meals opened mouths, completely unscathed by any danger. In a corner, some female students were even putting on makeup!
How amusing.
In such an environment, they still had the mind to indulge in such activities. Outside, they wouldnāt last even an hour.
At this moment, a middle-aged man in a suit, with a ruddy complexion, approached. Even within the bunker, he still wore hair gel and a tie, as if he were a leader inspecting the countryside, completely not appearing to be avoiding monsters.
Ding Liang.
He was the board member of Wei Xunās school and a teaching director in the university, tasked with managing the bunkerās food due to his decades in education. Regular personnel deployment was also under his full responsibility.
Moreover, most of the bunkerās survivors were school students, so he had exceptionally high prestige.
Ding Liang glanced at Wei Xun, not overly excited, but seeing the other holding only a small package, frowned with displeasure, "Whatās going on? Why did you only find this little food today?"
Though Ding Liang acknowledged that their living conditions relied completely on Wei Xun and the glasses-wearing man, as the teaching director, he had long developed certain airs. They were obedient, so he naturally assumed the role of the bunkerās administrator.
Only one package of food, yet this bunker housed over a hundred people; who would get enough to eat? Even split, each would get a palm-sized portion at best!
"Wei Xun, what exactly did you do outside? With merely this little food, how can everyone share it? Are you ignoring your teachers and classmates, who are here waiting for your life-saving grain? Is your conscience clear treating them like this?"
Ding Liang was a powerful school leader, normally very impressive, maintaining front and commanding presence. Despite being a mentor, he did not understand restraint or accommodation, even to Wei Xun, speaking with a reprimanding tone.
"Thatās right, Iām starving too. This small amount wonāt fill my stomach; it wonāt even fill a tooth gap."
"Some people are remarkable, completely disregarding our feelings."
"I bet he and Yuan Wen stuffed themselves elsewhere before returning, otherwise how could there be so little food?"
Prejudice.
Chen Feng gazed at these peopleās faces.
Not having experienced the apocalypse, how could they grasp the outside dangers? At this moment, they took Wei Xunās efforts for granted, like maggots savoring the fruits of othersā bloody battles.
Upon hearing the surrounding clamor, Ding Liang frowned, glanced behind briefly, then scanned Chen Feng, asking, "By the way, where did Yuan Wen go? Wasnāt he with you when you went out? And who is this kid? Why is he with you?"
Wei Xun slowly raised his head, a smirk emerging, speaking coldly, "Yuan Wen? He wonāt be coming back; Iāve killed him!"
"What?!"
It seemed Ding Liang couldnāt believe what he just heard. He frowned and looked at Wei Xun with a shocked expression.
"I said, Iāve killed him!"
"Enough! Donāt put on airs anymore; Iāve had enough of you all! Why should I risk my life daily feeding you useless chosen ones? I wonāt do it anymore; Iāll never do it again!" Wei Xun erupted, yelling furiously.
"Wei Xun, do you know what youāre saying?" Ding Liangās eyes widened as if seeing Wei Xun for the first time, feeling surreal.
"I know what Iām saying, and moreover, donāt pretend, Ding Liang. Do you think I donāt know why some of the food we retrieve always mysteriously goes missing? You think I donāt know? You hid that food, giving these people only instant noodles and coarse bread. Meanwhile, you hoard the good food; Iāve heard you eating in a corner multiple times!"
Wei Xunās eyes showed a hint of haze, like a rabid dog biting everyone without considering their identity.
"Wei Xun, Iām a board member; is this how you speak to me?!"
Ding Liang was drenched in cold sweat, his face turning pale like a dying toad, his mouth twitching.
He admitted to hiding some food, never revealing it even when these people were most desperate for food, directly urging several students unable to bear hunger to find food themselves. Naturally, they never returned.
Remorse?
What is there to feel remorseful about? As a board member, he deserved respect. Besides, managing othersā living conditions, if not meritorious, thereās toil involved; whatās wrong with extra rations?
What was wrong with it!
This action must be stopped; squinting, Ding Liang decided, addressing the crowd behind him, "Wei Xun has gone mad! Heās banding together to suppress us; Yuan Wen already died by his hand. Can we endure? We should..."
Before finishing, a sudden pain struck Ding Liangās chest; a scaly arm pierced through, leaving him speechless, unable to utter a single note.
Wei Xun stepped forward, glaring into Ding Liangās eyes, grimly stating, "Damn you!"
Splat!
With force, Ding Liangās organs ruptured, and life abruptly ceased.
In contrast, Wei Xunās mouth curled into a cruel yet maniacal smirk, filled with indescribable thrill, an ineffable excitement.
It was then he realized that killing people was even more exhilarating than killing monsters!
Chen Feng gazed at Wei Xun; his emotions seemed unstable. Having just killed two people, he became a bit manic. Without correction, he could become a bloodthirsty fiend one day.
The future felt distant; Chen Feng couldnāt foresee what might unfold.
However, Chen Feng now needed a more ruthless agent. Compared to cowardly and impotent individuals, Wei Xunās manic, runaway nature received Chen Fengās approval.
As for the future, if Wei Xun truly lost control and became a mere murderer impeding my plans, he would be discarded easily; itās not a problem.
Itās about time.
Chen Feng stepped forward, scanning the crowd speechless from shock, loudly declaring, "From now on, the rules here change. Those who labor and contribute will eat; those seeking handouts face one outcomeābeing thrown outside to feed the bugs."
"Men aged fifteen to fifty must accompany Wei Xun in seeking food. Women handle medical supplies, ensuring immediate treatment; children and the elderly clean the bunker to prevent trash accumulation."
The bunker was a central hub. Chen Feng aimed to radiate his will outward from here.
A barrage of orders, listened to dumfoundedly by onlookers. After a moment, one of Ding Liangās cronies reacted loudly, "What nonsense are you saying? Who are you? And Wei Xun, are you really mad? Even if the board member embezzled food, you shouldnāt act like thisābesides, you have no proof!"
"Kill him."
Chen Feng withdrew his mind and calmly commanded Wei Xun.
Wei Xun took strides, still caught in his craziness, swiftly arriving in front of the man and delivering a punch, bursting the big head open.
The crowd collectively gasped, beginning to truly scrutinize Chen Feng. If Wei Xun were a rabid dog, then what kind of being was this man who could command him?
In such circumstances, apart from some women sobbing in fear, no one dared raise objections.
Without rules, chaos ensues.
Chen Feng looked around once more, his cold voice resonating in everyoneās ears: "I dislike being interrupted when speaking. Iāll only say this onceāanyone failing or neglecting will meet their end..."
