"I think I remember now,"
"This Wyatt Jacobs youâre talking about, is he from Team Kaelon?"
Chester Pearson asked.
"Yes, weâre all from Kaelon!"
"Heâs the captain now, but he doesnât treat us like human beings at all!"
"A few of us have no experience killing zombies,"
"but he insists on luring Mutated Zombies for us to kill, saying itâs for âtrainingâ..."
the man in the overcoat accused.
Many Superpower User teams donât accept inexperienced members.
So, they were all thrilled to join Team Kaelon and willing to go out for training.
"Over a dozen Superpower Users from Team Kaelon have died in the past few days. If we hadnât run into you today, weâd be dead for sure!"
"I understand your situation."
"Donât worry, the base wonât ignore this."
Chester Pearson felt he should pay Nina Jacobs a visit.
He had heard that this Wyatt Jacobs was related to Nina Jacobs, but the matter would definitely have to be reported regardless.
"We wonât disturb your business any longer."
"By the way, do you sell any gift boxes with cookies or pastries?"
As Chester Pearson was about to leave, something suddenly occurred to him.
"We do."
Claire Warner took out a box of almond crisps and a gift bag of snacks from her dimensional space.
ăThat evening.ă
When Nina Jacobs went to the hospital to see Vera Coleman, she found the box of almond crisps and the snack gift bag in Veraâs room.
"Chester Pearson was here?"
Nina Jacobs asked casually.
"He came and left already. But how did you know?"
Leo Hale asked.
"...I just ran into Pascal Paige..."
Nina Jacobs casually made up an excuse to brush it off.
She had almost blown her cover.
Thankfully, Leo Hale didnât think much of it.
"Oh, right, Nina, come help Mom decide. Which names sound better for your two little sisters?"
Vera Coleman had been mulling over names for the two little sisters with Daniel Hale all day.
They just couldnât quite make a decision.
Nina Jacobs looked at the sheet of paper filled with various names for twins and pointed to one pair, saying, "These two are good."
"Sabrina Hale and Leontine Hale?"
"I knew it! We were thinking the same thing!"
Daniel Hale chuckled.
He hadnât been sure before, but now that Nina Jacobs had said so, he was even more convinced that these two names were the best.
"Whatâs wrong with Melisande Hale and Tiana Hale? Theyâre so cute."
Leo Hale said, pointing to the names he had thought of.
But his words were ignored as two cries rang out one after another.
Merrick Stone and Lucy Lynch didnât panic, immediately finding warm water to prepare formula.
Watching her two little sisters drink their formula with such contentment, Nina Jacobs found she couldnât look away.
"So cute..."
Nina Jacobs couldnât resist giving one a gentle poke with her finger.
The next second, as if sensing something, Sabrina Hale gripped Nina Jacobsâs finger tightly with her tiny hand.
"Looks like she really likes you."
Lucy Lynch said with a smile upon seeing this.
"Babies have an unconscious grasping reflex, but I think itâs also an instinctive reaction."
"She probably senses your closeness."
Seeing Nina Jacobsâs surprise, Lucy Lynch explained further.
"Oh, so thatâs how it is."
Only after her two little sisters had finished their milk and fallen quietly back to sleep did Nina Jacobs dare to gently pull her hand away.
"Walsh has already delivered four meals today."
"When you go back later, tell him not to bring any more. I really canât eat another bite."
Vera Coleman instructed Nina Jacobs before she left.
Walsh had heard that one should eat small, frequent meals during the postpartum confinement period, which was why he had delivered four meals in just half a day.
âHeâs quite dedicated.â
Nina Jacobs decided to give Walsh a bonus this month.
âHiring him as the family chef was definitely the right decision.â
âHowever...â
Thinking about what needed to be done tonight, Nina Jacobs sent Walsh home early.
ăBefore dawn the next morning.ă
A slender girl walked alone on a road that was still under construction.
She seemed a little worried, glancing around as she walked.
She continued until she reached a perimeter wall.
"Is that you?"
The girl seemed to see a figure up ahead.
The figure hesitated for a moment before stepping out from the shadows.
"Can I really join the team?"
"Iâve never killed a zombie before."
The girl could vaguely make out the personâs silhouette and immediately asked in an expectant tone.
"What a waste."
The man opposite her was not particularly tall.
"What? Whatâs a waste?"
the girl asked.
"Nothing. Letâs test your skills!"
Without any warning, the man swung his weapon directly at the girlâs head!
"AH! What are you doing?"
The girl fell to the ground, dodging the attack.
"See? I told you you wastes of space are completely useless."
"Heaven should never have given you people the chance!"
After speaking, the man lunged at the girl again.
"Are you trying to kill me?"
The girl dodged repeatedly. The man was fast, and she was nearly cut several times.
"Have you heard of the conservation of energy?"
"Only by killing you all do I get a chance."
"There are too many living wastes like you, stealing my opportunities!"
the man threatened in a low voice.
His every move was lethal, and in his hand was a Gold Spike.
"Stop!"
An Ice Spike shot through the dawn, knocking the Gold Spike from the manâs hand to the ground.
"So it really is you."
Sherry Renner had appeared from behind a nearby sand pile at some point.
Immediately after, a group of people emerged from behind the wall and surrounded the man.
"Sherry, why did you come out so early?"
"I hadnât even gotten him to finish talking yet."
The girl on the ground stood up, dusted herself off, and complained with some dissatisfaction.
"Donât worry. I have my ways of making him talk."
At that moment, Sherry Renner only wanted to tell Nina Jacobs the news.
Nina Jacobsâs suspicions had been correct.
The man before them was indeed Wyatt Jacobs.
"I was just bringing her for an interview, to test her Superpower level."
"Why are you arresting me?"
Wyatt Jacobs looked bewildered, as if he didnât understand why so many people were surrounding him.
"Stop pretending. That Gold Spike in your hand is the proof."
"Youâre the one who killed all those Superpower Users before, arenât you?"
Looking at the deceptively harmless-looking Wyatt Jacobs, Sherry Renner couldnât help but admire his acting.
"This? This is my weapon."
"Which one of your eyes saw me kill someone?"
"I was just recruiting Superpower Users for our team and testing their skills here."
Wyatt Jacobs replied.
"You just said you had to kill me to get your chance! We all heard you!"
The girl was Sherry Rennerâs colleague. Seeing Wyatt Jacobs refuse to admit it, she grew anxious.
They had caught him red-handed.
Sherry Renner sneered. "With your abilities? You want to test the skills of Superpower Users?"
"Who do you think you are? You donât even have a Superpower."
"You probably even stole that Gold Spike in your hand."
"Youâre so weak itâs pathetic."
Sure enough, after Sherry Renner finished speaking in that sharp, sarcastic tone, Wyatt Jacobs was pushed to the height of his fury.
His eyes were bloodshot as he took an attack stance, glaring fiercely at Sherry Renner.
"What do you know! I am the strongest Gold Element user!"
"All those Superpower Users who awakened were still easily killed by me! Theyâre not worthy..."
"You all are the real weaklings!"
Wyatt Jacobs roared, and the scene instantly fell silent.
"There it is. Youâve admitted it."
Sherry Renner said with a smile.
Although Nina Jacobs wasnât involved in the operation, she had predicted that Wyatt Jacobs wouldnât confess. Nina had told her that if they mentioned his weak spot, he would surely expose himself.
And Wyatt Jacobsâs weak spot was, as expected, awakening a Superpower.
