"Tranquilor..."
Inside the office, Myra Lawson said in a low voice.
"Iâve never heard of that place. It shouldnât be within City Dâs borders."
Adrian Shaw said with certainty.
Nina Jacobs had mentioned the place when she reported the incident.
Apparently, she overheard their conversation while looking for Holden Shaw.
The Tranquilor they mentioned seems to be a type of reward from some organization.
"What Iâm concerned about is that they also have an Ice Ability User. This organization is highly suspicious."
With the world in chaos, it wasnât surprising for all sorts of unusual people to appear.
She was worried that, besides zombies, there might be other hostile forces.
Myra Lawson decided to investigate Tranquilor first and see which organization it belonged to.
"Indeed. Could it be that someone in this organization has precognitive dreams like Liam Grant?"
Adrian Shaw suddenly considered a possibility.
"Thereâs no way to know, but this incident does show that their stance is different from ours. Weâll need to be wary of them from now on."
It was hard to imagine what their objective could be, for someone to dare to impersonate Warren Rhodesâs granddaughter.
ăTwo days later.ă
The plane escorting Samson Thorne was once again preparing for departure.
This time, however, the base had urgently set up a temporary landing and takeoff point within its walls.
Myra Lawson would personally lead a team to escort Samson Thorne back to the City A command headquarters.
Before leaving, Myra Lawson entrusted a mission to Nina Jacobs, promising to reward her with Crystal Cores whether she succeeded or not.
The mission was to continue moving forward with the collection of solar panels.
She gave Nina Jacobs full command of the operation.
In Myra Lawsonâs opinion, no one was better suited to lead this operation than Nina Jacobs.
Of course, Nina Jacobs accepted.
Upon completion, she would receive a reward of 10,000 Crystal Cores.
"Nina, letâs get going too."
Ian Chandler was ready.
He had been participating in this mission all along, and now that Myra Lawson was gone, he had no intention of quitting halfway.
"Right."
Nina Jacobs gazed in the direction the plane had disappeared.
âThis time, Samson Thorne should be able to return to City A safely.â
Because Nina Jacobs had taken on the mission at the last minute, Daniel Hale couldnât help but worry.
"Iâm going with them. What are you worried about, Hale?"
At the baseâs main gate, Chester Pearson patted Daniel Haleâs shoulder.
This was an outing for familiar faces, after all.
"Uncle Hale, weâll be back the same day. Iâll watch over Leo."
Nina Jacobs added.
Other than Holden Shaw, Leo Hale and Chase Gallagher were also going.
"Thatâs not..."
"Just... be careful. Try to finish up early this afternoon."
Daniel Hale had wanted to say that he didnât mean for Nina Jacobs to look after Leo Hale, but he held his tongue.
"I know, Dad. You should head back now."
Leo Hale turned and walked toward the vehicles waiting outside the base gate.
Watching the groupâs retreating backs, Daniel Hale could only try to think positive thoughts.
Chester Pearson had brought 150 rescue team members on this trip.
Nina Jacobs walked beside him and Ian Chandler, while Wayne Warner followed silently behind them as usual.
Just then, a convoy of vehicles pulled up outside the walls of the City D Base.
A man in a sharp suit and leather shoes stepped out of a luxury car.
He looked toward Nina Jacobs, who was approaching.
However, Nina walked straight ahead, seemingly not noticing him.
"Mr. Hughes, feel free to park the vehicles in the baseâs parking lot."
Dawn Donovan said with a smile.
"Mm, no problem."
Tyson Hughes gave instructions to the people beside him, but his gaze fell back on the group of rescue team members.
âWhatâs he doing here?â
A look of confusion crossed Tyson Hughesâs face.
He saw Wayne Warner, the mute who had been captured by Dylan Quinn.
He remembered that after the explosion inside the Quinn Group, Wayne Warner had vanished without a trace.
He hadnât paid it much mind at the time, assuming heâd been killed in the blast.
He never expected him to turn up perfectly fine at the City D Base.
Although Dylan Quinn didnât tell him many things, he believed Dylan would never have let Wayne Warner go so easily.
"Mr. Hughes? Mr. Hughes, is something wrong?"
Dawn Donovan asked.
"Itâs nothing. Thank you for your help today, Miss Donovan."
Tyson Hughes watched as Nina Jacobs and Wayne Warner got into a vehicle together, along with the rest of the rescue team members.
âIs she working for the base now?â
Recalling this opponent he had crossed paths with before, a hint of amusement appeared on Tyson Hughesâs face.
"So this is the Superpower User Alliance."
When Pascal Paige heard that Nina Jacobs would be leading a base mission, he had eagerly volunteered to join.
Each rescue team would take one or two Healers with them on missions to handle emergencies.
Seeing so many unfamiliar vehicles and people suddenly appear outside the base, the group couldnât help but be a little curious.
"Yeah, thatâs them."
Nina Jacobs had seen Tyson Hughes from the very beginning.
But they had never interacted directly, and she had no interest in him whatsoever.
"If you ask me, the base shouldnât have taken them in. Arenât they supposed to be so powerful? Let them fend for themselves."
Leo Hale still remembered when they had abducted Wayne Warner.
When Nina Jacobs returned later, she only said the matter had been resolved, without going into detail.
He guessed that Nina had secretly rescued Wayne Warner herself.
He just wondered if they would cause trouble now that theyâd seen Wayne Warner.
"Donât worry. Since the base agreed to take them in, theyâve already made preparations. They have to obey the baseâs regulations. If they ever violate the rules or harm others, theyâll be expelled immediately."
Chester Pearson scoffed.
The Quinn Group had already suffered several zombie sieges.
Heâd heard that the Superpower User Alliance originally wanted to hold out for a while longer, but Mutated Zombies had already breached the groupâs compound multiple times and eaten quite a few people.
"The Superpower User Alliance headquarters in City A is also based inside Arisdale Base."
Chase Gallagher said.
The leader of the Superpower User Alliance headquarters is also named Hughes, and heâs quite wealthy and powerful.
"If things keep developing like this, who knows what will happen."
Chester Pearson felt the base could be tougher and just disband The Alliance, saving them future trouble.
"The City A command headquarters allows various smaller factions to flourish for the overall benefit of Drakonia. As long as they register, report their activities, and abide by the baseâs rules, they generally wonât be forcibly disbanded."
Chase Gallagher was from Arisdale Base, so he was very familiar with the situation there.
Managing them was a better method of control than outright banning them.
He believed the decision-makers at the City D Base felt the same way.
Nina Jacobs couldnât agree more.
In an apocalypse where information no longer flowed freely, nothing was more important than unified management.
"Thatâs true. It saves us the trouble of having to dig for intelligence on them," Chester Pearson said.
Shirley Lucas had only been back for a few days before being summoned away again.
With the Superpower User Alliance officially moving into the base, maybe Shirley Lucas could finally catch a break...
It had been a long time since Nina Jacobs had done one of the systemâs "free shopping" missions. Unexpectedly, a new mission refreshed just as she was heading out.
