"Greg Unger, come back."
Trevor had hunted black bears before. He was a Dual Element Superpower User and was more familiar with them than Greg Unger.
"Four of us will go together. Holden Shaw and Chase Gallagher, youâll provide support as needed. Everyone, put these on just in case."
Nina Jacobs took out several sets of Golden Silk Armor from the car.
She chose Trevor, Wayne Warner, Adrian Shaw, and herself.
"Why just four people?"
Leo Hale couldnât help but ask. With so many of them, they could have all attacked at once.
"Itâs smart. It knows it can attack a group of four, like Beaumont Wallaceâs group just now."
"If we all rush in, thereâs a good chance it will just run away," Nina Jacobs said.
âTo kill this black bear, we canât let it get too wary.â
"No problem. Weâll jump in if anything happens."
Holden Shaw and Chase Gallagher both put on the Golden Silk Armor.
Wayne Warner walked at the very front.
The four of them hadnât gone far when the black bear, just as expected, charged back at them!
The black bear looked to be more than twice Wayne Warnerâs size.
But its movements were surprisingly agile. It dodged Adrian Shawâs Thunder Element Superpower twice.
Two Ice Spikes shot toward it, but they couldnât pierce its thick, mutated hide.
The black bear roared and lunged for Nina Jacobs, but Wayne Warner caught its attack with both hands.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Wayne Warner kicked it in the abdomen, one blow after another, and the black bear howled in pain.
"Itâs working!"
Adrian Shaw could see the black bear already wanted to escape, but Wayne Warner refused to let go.
THUD!
The black bear opened its massive jaws to bite Wayne Warner, but a vine wrapped tightly around them.
"Its strength... is immense." Trevor strained to pull the vine taut.
"Now!"
At Nina Jacobsâs command, Wayne Warner spun around, grabbed the black bearâs paw, and with sheer force, hoisted it up and executed a shoulder throw!
SLAM!
Sharp Stone Spikes erupted from the ground. With the added force of its own weight, the bearâs entire body was impaled on them!
ROAR!
Even so, the black bear still tried to struggle to its feet, but a net of lightning quickly paralyzed it on the ground.
A moment later, the black bear finally fell silent.
"This black bearâs hide should be very useful. I wonder what the meat is like, though."
Nina Jacobs hadnât used her Fire Element Superpower because she was worried about ruining the hide.
The black bearâs hide and claws could both be made into useful defensive gear.
Just as everyone was breathing a sigh of relief, a loud crash came from behind them.
It was an even larger brown bear. White steam puffed from its nostrils as it glared furiously at the humans before it.
"So there is another one!"
Adrian Shaw had already summoned arcs of lightning, but the brown bear turned and fled with surprising speed!
"Stop it!"
Before Nina Jacobs could finish speaking, two incredibly fast figures were already charging toward the brown bear!
CRACK!
Chase Gallagher relentlessly attacked the brown bear with Wind Blades, while Holden Shaw had already managed to land two slashes.
Although their attacks werenât fatal, they successfully intercepted the brown bear.
SWOOSH!
Trevorâs vine had wrapped around the brown bearâs ankle.
But the brown bear snapped the vine with a single swipe of its paw!
"Weâre coming to help!"
Seeing there was only one brown bear left, Leo Hale led the rest of the group down to join the fight.
Nina Jacobs seized the opportunity to block the brown bearâs escape route with her Earth Element Superpower.
No matter how powerful a Mutated brown bear was, it was helpless against dozens of Superpower Users.
In the end, with Wayne Warner pinning it down with his strength, Holden Shaw plunged his blade into the brown bearâs open mouth.
The earth-shaking roar of the bear instantly stopped.
"Itâs so huge..."
Even Greg Unger and the others, who were used to seeing bears, were shocked by the sight of the brown bearâs carcass on the ground.
"Itâs eaten quite a few people. Sigh."
Shirley Lucas had just checked the area. Judging from the wrecked cars and the general chaos, at least thirty people had been eaten or mauled to death by these two mutated bears.
[Detected that the hostâs actions will save 271 humans in the coming days. Triggering the "Selfless Savior" title. Reward: 271 vials of "Healing Potion."]
âSo hunting Mutated Animals with everyone can also trigger the Savior title?â
Shirley Lucas stored the carcasses of both mutated bears in her space.
Perhaps because of the Mutated Animals, the further they traveled, the fewer zombies they encountered.
There were, however, plenty of zombie corpses on the ground.
"Could we use Mutated Animals to kill zombies? I think thatâs a good idea," Leo Hale said from his seat in the car.
"No."
Nina Jacobs shot down his idea without hesitation.
"Mutated Animals only eat humans and other Mutated Animals."
âAny thought of raising or controlling Mutated Animals is just naive.â
"I also think itâs impossible. That thing was too strong, and its ferocity was no less than a zombieâs."
Holden Shaw still remembered the brown bearâs furious gaze.
It was a creature beyond humanityâs current ability to control.
"Right. I heard that bear meat tastes a lot like beef. I just wonder if it would be good in a hot pot."
As soon as Leo Hale finished speaking, a rumbling sound echoed inside the car.
Wayne Warner looked down at his stomach. The sound was coming from him.
"My bad, my bad. Wayne just used up a lot of energy, after all."
Shirley Lucas first took out some bread and canned ham for Wayne Warner to tide himself over.
At their current pace, they would soon reach the foot of Mornfell.
It was already afternoon. According to Trevor and his group, they had to enter the Bishop Tribeâs territory before 4 p.m.
After four, even they might not be able to find the correct entrance.
This was also the first time Nina Jacobs had heard of such a place.
After Shirley Lucas stored the three vehicles and everyone followed Trevorâs group into a grove of dead trees, Nina Jacobs noticed that something was indeed strange about the place.
No matter where they walked, they seemed to end up back where they started.
Only Trevor stood silently in one spot, observing the shadows of the dead trees.
As time ticked by, Lana tossed a few dead branches to the side.
A gentle breeze drifted by, and Trevor and his companions closed their eyes to listen.
The others could only watch in silence, not daring to make a sound.
Nina Jacobs watched the time. Just as her watch hands hit 4 oâclock, Trevorâs group all looked in the same direction at once.
"Everyone, please follow us," Lana said.
After confirming no one was following them from the sides or behind, Nina Jacobs and her group gradually followed.
After following Trevorâs group for nearly an hour, everyone except for the members of the Bishop Clan had completely lost their bearings.
Especially after killing a few Mutated Animals, even Shirley Lucas, who had a keen sense of direction, couldnât find north anymore.
"Even the compass has stopped working. Are we really going to make it?" Shirley Lucas muttered under her breath.
"It looks like weâll be fine."
Nina Jacobs noticed that Trevor and his group had determined gazes; they didnât look lost at all.
âNot only that, I set our destination on the system map when we got out of the car. And right now, weâre definitely following the route shown on the system map. It seems my system map can show the way to the Bishop Clan.â
By the time the group had passed through a long, winding cave, the sky had gradually darkened.
"Everyone, weâre almost there," Greg Unger called out.
Just as they were about to exit the cave, Trevor, who was leading the way, came to a stop.
He walked to the wall and turned a stone.
To everyoneâs astonishment, another exit appeared on the right-hand wall, which had been completely solid just a moment before!
