Chapter 374: Chapter 374: She Cares About Them?
Nina Jacobs was sitting beside Cordelia, intently watching Lexy fill the water tank from above.
"Is this really okay?"
Cordelia asked uneasily after stowing the water tank.
"Mm. A well-fed dog wonât stand guard. I think itâs time they got a little exercise."
Nina Jacobs replied.
More and more zombies swarmed outside the vehicle, forcing Tristan Lynch to make the rest of his people join the fight.
"Damn it, how is their vehicle so tough?"
The Gold Element Superpower User, Shane Shepherd, stood on the roof of their vehicle.
A ring of metal platforms rose around the roofâs edgeâa custom-made railing. Not only could they stand on it to kill zombies, but it also prevented the surrounding horde from climbing up.
He glanced at the dark green RV behind them, which hadnât budged an inch since the fighting started.
"Do this."
Tristan Lynch said to Shane Shepherd, turning his back to the fight for a moment.
"Got it. Iâll coordinate."
A strange smile touched the corners of Shane Shepherdâs lips.
Several zombies were quickly swept up by two of Tristan Lynchâs Wind Dragon Vortexes.
Shane Shepherd, in turn, conjured a volley of Gold Spikes.
The Gold Spikes shot straight toward the zombies that were about to fall from mid-air.
"Watch out, those zombies are headed our way!"
Reginald Sutton yelled.
The force from the Wind Dragon Vortexes and Gold Spikes sent the scattered zombies hurtling toward the RV.
Many of the zombies had already been pierced through by the Gold Spikes, and the cold, glinting tips were about to smash into the windshield!
BANG!
A Diamond Sand Wall blocked the zombies and Gold Spikes as they crashed down one after another.
âWhat is that? A transparent earth wall?â
Shane Shepherd was stunned. âI used my full strength, and I still couldnât force them out?â
ROAR!
Several Mutated Zombies unleashed their Superpowers at him simultaneously, and Shane Shepherd had no choice but to drop everything and defend himself.
Nina Jacobs closed the sunroof and continued to watch the people outside.
Corisande was now whipping around a Metal Whip covered in barbs. Everywhere it swept, it took several zombie heads with it.
Tristan Lynchâs Wind Element Superpower was also not to be underestimated, useful for both offense and defense.
Lachlanâs wood thorns erupted from the ground like bamboo shoots after rain, quickly pinning a number of zombies to the earth.
"Are you saying they were trying to force our hand just now?"
Cordelia asked.
"Mm, these people are very good at keeping up appearances. But in some ways, thatâs not a bad thing."
âAll the better to make use of them.â
Nina Jacobs waited until Tristan Lynch and his group were on the verge of exhaustion before she went up to the roof of the RV alone.
Lachlan was panting heavily. His Superpower was depleted, and now he could only rely on the weapon in his hands to fight off the surrounding zombies.
But there were too many zombies, and Tristan Lynchâs group could barely fend for themselves.
SNAP!
A thick vine snaked out from behind and wrapped around Lachlanâs ankle.
âDamn it!â
Lachlan frantically tried to sever the vine with his weapon, but it had already turned to wood and couldnât be easily cut.
"Tristan, save me!"
Lachlan screamed.
Tristan Lynch, however, was currently facing off against a Thunder Zombie. He was more worried about getting injured himself than he was about Lachlan.
Just as the vine was about to yank Lachlan off his feet, a Fire Blade flew by and sliced through it.
"Itâs her..."
Lachlan broke out in a cold sweat. He looked at the figure standing on the roof behind him, and his eyes widened.
Dozens of Stone Spikes, each wreathed in flames, hovered in the air above Nina Jacobs.
The Stone Spikes reflected a golden light in the flames before shooting out in a WHOOSH to impale the surrounding zombies!
And with Nina Jacobs standing at the center of it all, two Fire Serpents roared past on either side of the RV.
Raging flames erupted in the Fire Serpentsâ wake, making it seem as if the RV beneath her feet was driving through a baptism of fire.
And yet, the vehicleâs body was firmly protected by a sand wall, completely shielded from the flames.
The Wood Element zombie that had tried to ambush Lachlan had long since been burned to a crisp.
Seeing their surroundings instantly clear, Tristan Lynch, Corisande, and the others stared at Nina Jacobs in shock.
"Have you all gotten so useless you canât even handle this small number of zombies?"
Nina Jacobs said, her words merciless.
But none of them could refute her.
They watched as Nina Jacobs simply lifted a hand, and dozens of Fireballs instantly rained down from the sky.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The surrounding ground trembled from the impact of the Fireballs.
The desiccated zombies were instantly ignited, and flames spread across the ground.
Lachlan swallowed hard.
His heart was pounding in his chest.
Tristan Lynch and the others had also stopped moving.
"Iâve seen Magnus York. Heâs not even one percent of her."
"I canât believe thereâs someone this incredible in the Association..."
Tristan Lynch said.
"Then, are we..."
Corisande felt their assessment had been wrong.
This Zephyra before them might be impossible to kill.
"If sheâs this strong, weâre guaranteed to get our share by following her."
Tristan Lynch finished, his eyes glowing with fervor.
Nina Jacobs, however, didnât hear their murmuring.
She only knew that Tristan Lynchâs group had exhausted their Superpowers.
After clearing out the surrounding zombies, Nina Jacobs gave them a cool glance and said,
"Since youâre all in this state, letâs find a place up ahead to rest."
"Yes... Yes!"
Tristan Lynch immediately agreed.
Lachlan was also quite excited.
"Sheâs worried about us! She was afraid weâd get hurt!"
Corisande watched Nina Jacobs walk back into the RV. âIs that really it?â she wondered.
"Tristan, my actions just now... she didnât see through them, did she?"
After they collected the Crystal Cores and the convoy was on the move again, Shane Shepherd asked nervously.
Lachlan shot him a sympathetic glance.
âGood thing I didnât try to be clever just now.â
âI must have left a decent impression, right? After all, she went out of her way to save me.â
Back inside the vehicle, Nina Jacobs began studying a map with Tobin.
"Stopping here should be best."
"If we get too close, theyâre bound to notice our movements."
Tobin suggested, pointing to an abandoned factory.
"Alright, here it is."
Nina Jacobs was completely unfamiliar with the roads in Keldorn, so she decided to let Tobin make the call.
Tobin was delighted to be trusted so completely. It had been a long time since anyone had listened to him like this.
Nina Jacobs noticed that Felix Finch had been staring at her ever since she came back inside.
"How are you feeling?" Nina Jacobs asked.
She had given Felix Finch a Healing Potion diluted by 50%; his injuries were simply too severe.
"Much better. Who on earth are you?"
Felix Finch asked.
"That has nothing to do with you. You should worry about yourself first."
Nina Jacobs replied.
Felix Finch gave a weak smile.
Before they got out of the vehicle, Wayne Warner stowed Felix Finch away again.
Tristan Lynch and his group were completely unaware of this.
The moment Nina Jacobs stepped out of the vehicle, Tristan Lynch and his group immediately surrounded her.
"Damian is a Space Superpower User and also knows a bit of medicine. I was wondering, was Miss Zephyra injured just now?"
Tristan Lynch asked solicitously.
"No."
Nina Jacobs replied while surveying the abandoned factory before them.
The outer walls of the factory were scorched beyond recognition, and parts of them had collapsed.
Nina Jacobs activated her Earth Element Superpower, and the walls were instantly repaired.
Seeing this, the groupâs eyes lit up again.
âTo think that even after a battle like that, this Zephyra still has so much Superpower left.â
"Everyone, be careful. Thereâs something inside."
Nina Jacobs said, staring at the rusted iron gate secured with several locks.
At a signal from Nina Jacobs, Reginald Sutton used his Gold Element Superpower to slowly open the gate.
ROAR!
Along with a foul stench, a massive, four-legged zombie beast lunged at them!
BANG!
Wayne Warner sent it flying backward with a single kick.
SQUELCH!
A Stone Spike that had already protruded from the wall pierced right through the zombie beastâs head.
