When Xia Chuyi and Huo Shiqian arrived at the Ou Family,
the people there had already been waiting for their arrival.
Seeing his daughter and son-in-law walking in together like a perfect couple, Ou ZhenTing, who had now officially become a father-in-law, felt bittersweet yet relieved.
"Dad, Mom," Xia Chuyi called out.
"Dad, Mom," Huo Shiqian greeted.
"Good, good, itâs nice to have you back," said Mrs. Ou.
Then the two of them entered the house.
They poured tea, offered it respectfully, and shared some words of advice.
At this moment, Ou Cong suddenly spoke up.
"About changing how I address you... should I call him Brother Huo, or should I call him brother-in-law?" The Second Young Master Ou looked a bit conflicted.
Calling him âbrother-in-lawâ... after admiring and respecting Huo Shiqian for so many years, Ou Cong found it hard to do.
But calling him âBrother Huoâ didnât seem quite right either.
Hearing Ou Congâs words, Mrs. Ou and the others paused in surprise.
Indeed, it was a bit of a dilemma.
Even Xia Chuyi looked at Huo Shiqian, thinking: If I were asked to call Ou Cong the second brother... well, Xia Chuyi just couldnât imagine it.
At this moment, Ou ZhenTing said, "Whatâs there to be conflicted about? Just call each other whatever youâre used to."
"Thereâs no need to follow tradition so rigidly when it comes to addressing each other."
"If it really doesnât work, you can just call him by his rank."
Ou ZhenTing felt that as long as their precious daughter was married to Huo Shiqian, all those trivial matters didnât need to be worried about.
After hearing Ou ZhenTingâs words, Ou Cong said, "Alright then, Iâll stick with calling him Brother Huo!"
And that settled the matter of how they would address each other.
Afterward, the two stayed for a simple meal at the Ou Familyâs home, then went to the military base to see some of Huo Shiqianâs comrades and subordinates.
"Hello, Sister-in-law!"
"Hello, Sister-in-law!"
As soon as Xia Chuyi and Huo Shiqian arrived at the base, Shiqianâs subordinates immediately shouted loudly.
This enthusiasm was no less than it had been on the wedding day.
Chuyi recognized some familiar faces among themâit was Xiao Wang and the others.
"Thank you all for your hard work. In a few days, Iâll treat everyone to a meal," Xia Chuyi said.
"Thank you, Sister-in-law! Thank you, Sister-in-law!" The group immediately shouted, their voices booming with excitement.
When they returned from the base, it was already quite late. Huo Shiqian said, "Letâs head back. We can visit your uncle and aunt tomorrow."
Xia Chuyi nodded.
That was all they could do for now.
That night, as she was washing up, Xia Chuyi thought to herself: Is tonight the night for our wedding bed?
Thinking this, a blush crept up her face.
Then, Xia Chuyi snuck into the pocket space she had, using the time difference to rest fully before coming back out.
On the wedding bed, Huo Shiqian saw Xia Chuyiâs rosy cheeks and eyes full of tenderness, and his gaze deepened.
"Come here," Huo Shiqian said, stretching out a hand towards her.
Xia Chuyi walked over and nestled against his chest, her cheeks flaming, but her eyes sparkling with light.
Huo Shiqian held her and said, "Chuyi, youâre not tired today, are you?"
This question was a subtle way of asking if she was ready.
Hearing this, the heat on Xia Chuyiâs face intensified.
Even so, she gave a slight nod.
Seeing her nod, a faint smile appeared in Huo Shiqianâs eyes, and his Adamâs apple bobbed slightly.
Then, he flipped over and pressed Xia Chuyi beneath him on the bed.
Their eyes met, and desire swirled and intertwined in their gaze.
"Chuyi, today is truly our wedding night," Huo Shiqian said in a husky voice.
"Mm," Xia Chuyi responded, her voice soft and sweet, unlike her usual self.
Soon, under the semi-lit lamp on the bedside table, the figures of the couple merged into one shadow on the bed.
