âThis power...â Clovis was dumbstruck. He never thought Iskandar would release this power. After the four bursts, there was another eruption. It wasnât as powerful as the four bursts, but it was still another boost.
And that burst was trying to disperse Clovisâ power. Without this one last burst, Clovis should have no problem in cutting his hand like earlier, rendering both hands useless.
However, this last burst actually dispersed enough power to stop Clovis from cutting through his gauntlet. He still won the exchange, though.
Clovis started sweating. âThis guy... Did he do it because he knew he couldnât stop my attack with just four bursts? Itâs not enough to call it 5 bursts, but it might be fine to call it 4.5 bursts.â
Clovis used three days to practice his coating power, but Iskandar actually used this match to create a half burst.
Even though his character was questionable, Iskandar was still a genius. Not only his strength, but also his growth speed was at an insane level.
If they prolonged the battle, there was no telling whether Clovis or Iskandar would take the victory.
Still, Clovis subconsciously smiled, not because he was mocking Iskandar, but because he was actually impressed by him. If their circumstances were a bit different, they might become rivals. They could push each other to their limits.
Unfortunately, Clovis was determined to win this battle. If Iskandar won, he might be able to clear his name in one way or another. Even if he couldnât, the damage might be minimal.
That was why Clovis had to win.
Clovis knocked down Iskandarâs gauntlet before swinging the sword up, but Iskandar managed to stop him with the part of the gauntlet that was still intact by raising the other arm. With that half a burst, it was basically impossible for Clovis to gain the upper hand.
All he could do was push Iskandar back.
Clovis suddenly dropped his short sword and held his long sword with both hands.
Every person who wielded a weapon might have wanted the same thing. It was a picture that would flash in their minds every once in a while. Just thinking about it, they could feel good and could continue moving forward no matter how hard it was.
It wasnât a miracle swing or anything. It was just another swing that they had made in their entire career, using everything they had.
Clovis inhaled deeply. He directed all that killing intent into two parts, his sword and his eye.
He still couldnât do it yet, but he had no choice but to forcefully use the power that made Mara the strongest.
Clovis stepped forward and swung his blade horizontally. "This is the end."
Beast Manifestation Technique, Overlord Slayer.
Iskandar noticed that this power was no different from the previous Overlord Slayer. Even if Clovis swung it with both hands, he simply raised both arms while producing his 4.5 bursts to counter that power. Even if Clovis won, he wouldnât be able to cut through his gauntlets.
That was what everyone thought except for two people, Clovis and General Halcom.
General Halcom had raised his guard to the limit, knowing that one mistake would result in something undesirable. That was why he was able to notice the killing intent that was directed at Clovisâ eyes.
This whole time, Clovis had been using his killing intent on his sword, feet, and hands, but he had never directed that power to his eyes.
He thought Clovis was planning to do something.
When Clovis made his swing, General Halcom couldnât help but see a shadow. That horizontal slash was definitely something he had seen before.
It was as if Mara was standing before him, swinging her glaive horizontally. But when Mara did it, half the town might end up getting cut.
But that was all from the video that had spread all around the Skynet. When Clovis activated the killing intent in his eyes, he finally experienced what kind of slash Maraâs opponents had taken from her.
All of a sudden, the killing intent overwhelmed his brain, causing him to hallucinate. If Maraâs killing intent was like a dragon, Clovisâ power was only at the level of a chicken. However, this was enough to disrupt his current opponent.
The smell of blood abruptly crept into his nose, and the sunlight gradually turned red. It was just for a second, but this sight was also seen by Iskandar.
"!!!" Iskandarâs body shook, causing his burst to get disrupted.
Bam!
The clash was swift and deadly. The bursts exploded to disperse Clovisâ power, but it was even more surprising that General Halcom suddenly moved next to Iskandar, catching Clovisâ blade with his left hand.
Iskandar didnât manage to disperse that power enough to stop his hand from getting cut. General Halcom realized it and immediately intervened.
"Kh..." General Halcom bit his lip as blood flowed out of his arm. "The match is over. Clovis Hacfield won."
The people were surprised. They thought Iskandar could still go on, so they were a bit confused. Still, those who were Tier 8 could understand what was going on. They knew General Halcom had stopped the match to prevent the worst outcome. If he didnât stop that blade, Clovis would definitely have cut both of Iskandarâs hands in that attack.
The atmosphere inside the stadium was silent. They were confused and didnât know how to react, considering Clovis was a foreigner. However, they still couldnât help but cheer after witnessing such a fight. This was a battle they might not be able to forget.
Besides, they hadnât forgotten how shameless Iskandar and his family were when he first humiliated Clovis with the contract.
"NO! I HAVENâT LOST!" Iskandar roared and punched Clovis.
Clovis coated his killing intent on his left arm, since General Halcom was still holding his blade.
However, as one would expect from the general known for his achievements, his other hand suddenly caught Iskandarâs punch and withstood the bursts by himself.
It was clear that the bones in his hand were broken because of that punch, but instead of screaming, he was warning Iskandar. "You need to stop. Donât tarnish your honor even further. You still have a long way ahead of you, young man."
"..." Clovis looked at General Halcom for a moment before retracting his killing intent.
He won.
