Chapter 55: Your Brother I, am such a guy!
The tractor continued on its way towards J City. Yang Keâer sat behind listening to her song, and the song played beside Zhang Xiao Qiangâs ears. Somehow, it filled him with a sense of frustration.
Other than the 2 notebooks that he found in the early morning, he had also found some dried seafood. The depressing thing was that other than some unreadable map data on the notebook, there was not a single game, nor some âartistic filmsâ for men.
At that time, Zhang Xiao Qiang wanted to curse out loud, âyou donât even have porn, are you still a man or not?!â
âGrrrâ The tractor came to a stop, and Zhang Xiao Qiang read the map in his hands listlessly. J City was drawn as a small circle on the map, to get to the old highway to WH City, they had to pass by J City.
Seeing the various minuscule details on the map, Zhang Xiao Qiang started to get anxious. He wasnât familiar with J Cityâs road, who knew if they would be able to come out after going in?
Furthermore, even if J City wasnât big, it should have a dozen thousands of people! What if there happened to be some D3 or S3, then wonât they have served themselves on a platter?
Zhang Xiao Qiang hesitated in the suburban area. He wanted to discuss with Yang Keâer, but was met with a âthatâs your problemâ from her.
He was speechless then. âShould we or should we not?â he continued to be in a dilemma.
âPapapaâ Suddenly, the sounds of gunshots shocked him. The source seemed to be nearby.
âGet ready!â He shouted at Yang Keâer, pulling out his handgun from his waist. Yang Keâer also armed herself with the sniper crossbow and began to take aim.
The music of the notebook was already shut off, and both of them scanned their surroundings with alertness. The mood was tense and silent, and Zhang Xiao Qiang could even hear Yang Keâerâs rough breathing.
âPapapaâ Another 3 gunshots, furthermore, it was closer.
âAhâ A manâs wretched scream rang out, and the short bursts of gunshots became longer, it seemed like the situation had turned for the worse.
Zhang Xiao Qiang did not move. The best thing to do in an uncertain situation was to wait. He wasnât special forces, nor was he a trained agent. He was just an ordinary person and was contented with protecting his own life. He chose to be careful in such a situation.
The tall grass by their left side that reached obscene heights blocked their view, and they could not see what was going on. Zhang Xiao Qiangâs expression was grave, whereas Yang Keâer looked unconcerned, her sniper crossbow ready, and she had a lollipop in her mouth.
The tall grass began to move, and Zhang Xiao Qiang tensed up.
âHuala!â 4 shadows came charging out from the tall grass, not even glancing at Zhang Xiao Qiang or Yang Keâer, as they continued on their way.
Zhang Xiao Qiang looked incredulous, 4 strong burly men, 2 of them holding sharpened steel beams, one holding a Long Quan sword, and one holding something that looked like a long arch bow, although there were no arrows to be seen.
The 4 men were scurrying, looking like retreating soldiers fearful for their lives.
âMaybe they met a D2?â Zhang Xiao Qiang was alarmed, and he began to operate the tractor in a bid to escape. The previous time, he had relied on luck to finish off the D2, not capability. It was also too much of a high hope to rely on the lass.
Maybe itâs an S2? He forgot that if it was really an S2, they would not be able to even escape.
Right at this time, a man holding a .81 rifle came bursting out, raising his gun and firing behind. However, his bullets were running out, and after 3 to 5 bursts, the rifle stopped firing.
The man grabbed at his waist, only to grab thin air. He cursed out loud before throwing the rifle and running after the other men.
Shortly after, 3 S-Types came running after the man, growling as they ran.
Zhang Xiao Qiang and Yang Keâer watched all these, dumbfounded. The men and zombies had basically ignored their existence.
âUncle? Are they filming? How come those monsters didnât bother about us?â Yang Keâer was bewildered and couldnât help but ask.
Before he had the chance to reply, another 2 S-Types came out from the grass, they looked more injured, one of them with multiple gunshot wounds in its legs, looking like a Chinese vampire as it moved.
The other looked like a beehive, its entire chest to its abdomen covered with bullet holes. Whatever the damage was, it seemed incapable of running fast.
The 2 injured zombies could smell the scent of the 2 humans here, though. Zhang Xiao Qiang stopped Yang Keâer from acting, as he watched them approach.
One hopping, one shambling, moving towards the tractor.
âPa paâ With 2 gunshots, both S-Types fell to the ground.
Zhang Xiao Qiang blew the smoke from the gun, his heart excited: âWithin a 1m distance, Iâm still a sharpshooter!â
Up to this current point, it was the first time he had used the handgun to kill zombies! He caressed it and sighed!
As he eyed the .81 on the ground, he considered picking it up. Or should he wait for the zombies to be confirmed dead first? Although there were no more bullets, he still longed to own a rifle. It was a dream since young.
As for the men who were running earlier, they werenât within his consideration. They were not voluptuous women anyway, who cares if they were dead or not.
Zhang Xiao Qiang couldnât care less about others and did not stop Yang Keâer from observing. After the incident with Xie Yuan Shan, Yang Keâer had also matured a little and was more cold to strangers.
âLook look! Uncle, look at the man whoâs carrying the gun, heâs about to be caught!â
âHaha! Heâs going to get caught! So silly, just throw the gun away and youâll be faster! Right, Uncle?â
âOh, he was really caught! Oh, he got bitten! Yi? How come only one stopped to eat? The other 2 are still chasing? Maybe theyâre full?â
She used the sniper crossbow to look, her mouth full of vicious words, without a shred of sympathy.
Zhang Xiao Qiang on the other hand was ignorant of everything else except the gun on the floor. The more he looked at it, the stronger the urge to pick it up. He was, after all, a geek, and yet, a traditional Chinese male at the same time.
âTaking things without asking is theft.â
Although he had picked up countless stuff along the way, they were all without an owner!
âSo, I shall wait for you to die!â Zhang Xiao Qiang decided to be a gentleman, albeit a fake one.
âUncle! Theyâre coming towards here! They must have heard the gunshots earlier!â
Yang Keâer reminded Zhang Xiao Qiang, as she readied her spear!
âWait for them to get closer first! Donât use the Beast Horn Spear! We cannot afford to reveal our possessions!â
Zhang Xiao Qiang did not wish to save anybody, but it didnât mean he wouldnât kill the zombies. Furthermore, asking some locals for the way would not hurt.
The remaining 4 people ran like hell towards the tractor, as Zhang Xiao Qiang eyed them. He made no sound to urge or motivate them.
âHu-Ha-Hu-Ha!â
From afar, one could hear their ragged breath. Their faces were red from the exertion, and their faces contorted with their burst of strength. They looked like the lords of hell painted in front of temple gates!
The one who was wielding the Long Quan blade had reached his limit, he was struggling to breathe, his eyes wide open. He was somewhat frothing at his mouth. As he heard the steps nearing behind, he could not help but turn to take a look.
Only to see a small S-Type chasing behind him, slashing out with a claw. He could almost smell the claw on his face!
âAh!!!â
He screamed out loudly, and shook his shoulders, trying to increase his speed more.
Seemed like he forgot he had a blade in his hands, the Long Quan blade in his right hand danced as his right hand swung up and down, reflecting the sunlight!
âShuaâ A gust of wind blew past his ear and struck something behind him, followed by a âputongâ sound, it seemed like something had fallen?
He couldnât afford to care as just kept his head forward, running towards Zhang Xiao Qiang before he slowed down to catch his breath. At least there was some form of hope. He thought as he ran, not forgetting there were still 2 behind him!
One of the S-Type who had been feasting a distance away was shot in the head by an arrow fired from Yang Keâerâs sniper crossbow, leaving one S-Type still chasing the man.
Zhang Xiao Qiang pulled out the military knife and threw it towards the S-Type.
âPu!â The spinning blade lodged itself in the zombieâs head, and it slumped to the ground after stumbling a few steps!
The men had run to the tractor and wanted to get on, but they were forced to halt when they saw Yang Keâer aiming at them. They turned behind to look.
Stunned! Their faces went slack with shock. One of the zombies was on the ground with an arrow in its head, the other laid on the ground as Zhang Xiao Qiang pulled out the military blade from its head.
The men didnât move, nor make a sound. They just stood there dumbly, watching Zhang Xiao Qiang walk up to the S-Type feasting on the dead man.
The S-Type stopped eating and stood up, facing Zhang Xiao Qiang. It was obviously angry at being interrupted in the middle of its meal!
It snarled then pounced towards Zhang Xiao Qiang, who was not in the least flustered.
As though time had slowed down, he took a small step to the right, allowing the S-Type to lunge past him, and as it was in the air, he swiftly brought the knife and slashed its head from behind, lodging the blade in its brain.
Zhang Xiao Qiang then pulled out the knife, leaving the S-Type to bleed profusely, before it slumped to the ground.
Even as he walked back, the men still had not shaken out of their stupor!
âGuluâ The man with the Long Quan blade swallowed his saliva in shock.
âGuluguluâ The remaining 3 men finally reacted, each of them gulping their saliva!
âYour brother I, am such a guy!!!â Zhang Xiao Qiang had an extremely smug look.
