Chapter 603: Strategically brilliant
Big Ears and his elite zombie squad came charging in like a tidal wave, crashing into the battlefield with brutal force.
The Canadian zombies were already in bad shapeâmissing limbs, broken legsâand Genesis Biotechâs cyborgs werenât faring much better. Their numbers had been whittled down to almost nothing.
Ethanâs forces steamrolled through them, wiping out the remaining enemies with ruthless efficiency.
âWeâve been played!â
The Chonk Zombie King realized it too late. It was a setup from the start.
Big Ears and three other zombies lunged at him, slamming him to the ground. Already badly wounded and drained of energy, Chonk had no strength left to fight back.
One zombie wrapped around his waist, another clamped down on his throat, a third twisted his headâeach move perfectly coordinated.
âWerenât you chasing us just a minute ago? What happened, huh?â
âTime to show you what weâre really made of!â
âLetâs end this bastardâŠâ
ââŠâ
Chonk Zombie King screamed in agony, begging for mercy. His already broken body was torn apart by the four zombies. It didnât take long before his cries faded, his breath grew shallow, and finallyâhe was dead.
Another Genesis Biotech outpost had been wiped off the map, and a good chunk of the Canadian zombie horde was taken down with it.
But the chaos in Canada was far from over. The real troublemaker? That would be Lilâ Shroom.
She was a master of deception, using her mimic creations to lure Canadian zombies into trapsâor even disguising herself as one of them to stir up trouble right under the enemy Zombie Kingsâ noses.
Her antics kept the war between Genesis Biotech and the Canadian zombies burning hot, with both sides taking heavy losses.
And the skies werenât any calmer.
Swarms of drones zipped overhead, scanning the terrain for a Zombie King known as Snowy Owl. But then, from the distance, a black cloud rolled inâtens of thousands of red-eyed crows, shrieking as they dove in like missiles.
Their razor-sharp beaks tore through the drones, ripping them apart mid-air. The battle for air superiority had begun.
In short, Canada was a warzoneâchaos everywhere, bloodshed around every corner. The tension was thick, like a storm about to break. All-out war was just one spark away.
Meanwhile, Malcolm of the Vampire Race was fuming.
âWhat the hell is this? The American Zombie King and Genesis Biotech are going at it, and somehow my guys are the ones getting dragged in as cannon fodder? Those two must be in on it together!â
Lately, it looked like the conflict was just between Ethan and Genesis Biotech, but in reality, the Canadian zombie horde had taken the hardest hit.
Just then, one of Malcolmâs underlings came running up.
âBoss! A message from Lord Crimson Count!â
âOh?â Malcolmâs expression shifted instantly, turning serious. He held deep respect for the Crimson Count.
âWhat did my father say?â
âHe said itâs time to launch a full-scale assault. This back-and-forth harassment isnât working. If we want to win, we need to crush them with overwhelming numbers.â
Malcolmâs eyes lit up, a dangerous energy radiating from him. His adoptive father was right. While Genesis Biotech and the American zombies were busy tearing at each other, his own forces had lost over a hundred thousand zombies.
âThose bastards⊠playing dirty! Fine. Letâs settle this once and for all!â
âHold up!â A calm voice called out from the distance. Sophia stepped forward, her tone cool and confident.
âDid you forget? I used to be a high-ranking officer at Genesis Biotech. When it comes to guerrilla tactics, Iâm just as goodâif not betterâthan they are.â
âOh? So youâre saying youâre just as dirty?â Malcolm raised an eyebrow.
âExcuse me???â
Sophia shot him a glare, clearly not thrilled with the word âdirty.â She preferred âstrategically brilliant.â
Realizing his slip, Malcolm gave an awkward chuckle and quickly changed the subject. âAlright, then whatâs your plan?â
âFrom what I know about the American zombie nest, the reason theyâve been able to stir up so much trouble between us and Genesis Biotech is because of one Zombie KingâLilâ Shroom. Sheâs a shapeshifter, incredibly deceptive.â
âAhhâŠâ Malcolm nodded, the pieces falling into place.
No wonder she used to be a top exec at Genesis Biotechâshe really knew her stuff when it came to the American zombies.
Sophia continued, her voice cold and sharp: âThat Lilâ Shroom⊠sheâs definitely one of the top enforcers under the Zombie King from Los Angeles. If we want to win this war, we need to take her out firstâthen we launch the final assault.â
âMakes sense,â Malcolm nodded, clearly on board.
Taking out a major player before the big showdown? That could seriously tip the scales, save them a ton of casualties.
Sophiaâs eyes gleamed with a vicious light. She sneered, âIf theyâve got the nerve to reach into our territory, then we cut off one of their fingers before they reach any further.â
âŠ
Meanwhile, Lilâ Shroom was wandering across a wide, open plain, her eyes darting around mischievously, scanning the area like a kid looking for trouble.
And trouble was exactly what she wanted.
She thrived on chaos, stirring up conflict wherever she went.
It didnât take long before she spotted a patrolâdozens of Canadian zombies roaming the area, keeping watch over their turf.
Without hesitation, she released a cloud of fungal spores, launching a stealth attack.
The spores drifted through the air like mist, carried by the wind across the field. As soon as they landed on the zombies, they burrowed into their flesh, embedding deep into muscle and tissue.
âGRAAAHHâ!â
The zombies screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground as their bodies twisted and convulsed violently.
Then came the tumorsâbulbous, red growths erupting across their skin, layer upon layer, until their bodies were covered in grotesque, pulsing masses. It was enough to trigger anyoneâs fear of clusters.
The commotion didnât go unnoticed.
From deep within the zombie nest, a thunderous roar echoed across the plainsâa signal that an intruder had been spotted.
Within moments, a swarm of zombies began pouring out, a black tide of bodies surging toward the site of the infection.
Lilâ Shroom didnât flinch. This was exactly what she wanted.
The red tumors on the ground began to shift and morph, reshaping themselves into perfect replicas of Canadian zombies. They rose slowly, one by one, indistinguishable from the real thing.
At the same time, Lilâ Shroom transformed herself into the image of a mid-level zombie commanderâjust another face in the crowd.
The real Canadian zombie horde was closing in fast, their bloodlust thick in the air. They were furious, ready to tear apart whatever dared to invade their territory.
âWhereâs the intruder?!â
âLet me see whoâs got the balls to mess with us!â
âWhoever it is, theyâre dead meat!â
Lilâ Shroom blended in seamlessly, and before the moment passed, she jumped in to fan the flames.
âI saw a group of humans sneak in and attack. They ran off that way!â
âHumans?!â
The hordeâs fury exploded. The idea that prey would dare to strike first sent them into a frenzy. Driven by rage and hunger, they didnât stop to question itâthey were ready to charge.
âHold it!â
A sudden shout cut through the chaos, halting the stampede.
A tall, muscular figure stepped forward. His skin was pale, veins bulging across his face, and two sharp fangs gleamed under the light. Clearly, he was one of the Vampire Raceâand not just any grunt.
This was Darius, one of Malcolmâs most trusted lieutenants. He held a position of power similar to Gunner, the infamous executioner once under Monroeâs command.
âYou might be able to fool the others,â Darius growled, eyes narrowing as he scanned the crowd. âBut tricking me? Thatâs not gonna happen.â
