Abyssion wasnât the least bit surprised by Bloodveilâs arrivalâheâd seen it coming from a mile away.
His crew of Zombie Kings, on the other hand, were visibly impressed.
"No wonder heâs the bossâdudeâs practically psychic!"
"Hmph! Doesnât matter who shows up today."
"Coming to Frostmere? Thatâs a death wish."
"..."
Unfazed, Abyssionâs Zombie Kings led their undead hordes forward, launching another wave of relentless assault.
Abyssionâs psychic energy surged like a tidal wave, radiating outward. The very air around him began to thicken, space itself warping under the pressure.
Still, one thing didnât sit right with himâwhy would Bloodveil, the Overlord of Eastreach, risk everything to help Wraithshade by stepping into enemy territory?
He figured Bloodveil mustâve been dupedâprobably fell for Wraithshadeâs lies, thinking he could score an easy win. That kind of thinking? Pure idiocy. Clearly, this Eastreach Overlord wasnât exactly working with a full deck.
"Trying to beat me with some low-IQ Zombie King? What a joke."
"Huh???" Bloodveilâs brow twitched at that. Who the hell was he calling low-IQ?
But before he could respond, the undead tide surged againâferal, frenzied, and utterly fearless as they charged straight at him.
Bloodveilâs blood-forged chains snapped through the air like twin crimson ribbons, slicing and twirling with an eerie grace. There was something almost elegant about the way he moved.
Before the zombies could even get close, they were shreddedâtorn apart mid-charge.
But for every wave he cut down, another rose to take its place. It was like trying to empty the ocean with a spoon. Against a million-strong horde, he could fight for a day and night and still not make a dent.
"Iâll make you regret ever stepping foot in Frostmere!" Abyssion snarled, eyes gleaming with menace. He was confidentâbecause Nyssara of Heartland was still lying in wait, ready to strike from the shadows.
As Bloodveil carved his way through the undead, Nyssara was poised to deliver a fatal blow at just the right moment.
But thenâsomething shifted.
From the ridge behind them, a thick black fog erupted, rolling forward like a stormfront, fast and furious. It looked like smoke from a battlefield, laced with the guttural howls of the undead and a chilling aura of death.
"What the hell is that?" Abyssion narrowed his eyes, trying to make out the shapes moving within the fog.
Through the swirling darkness, he caught glimpses of agile, deadly figuresâzombies, but not like the mindless horde. These ones moved with purpose. And in their hands, beams of searing light danced like blades.
It was them.
The Saber Corps.
Three thousand elite, battle-hardened zombiesâBloodveilâs personal death squad.
Shrouded in black mist, they looked like demons unleashed, charging straight into the heart of Frostmereâs undead army.
"Kill!"
Their roar shook the battlefield.
At the same time, a distorted guitar riff ripped through the air, drowning out the chaos of war. The sound was raw, electricâalive.
"Hey-ah, hey! Hey-ah, ho!" Elegyâs voice followed, haunting and ethereal, like a sirenâs call from the underworld.
Her song wasnât just musicâit was a weapon. Her psychic energy pulsed outward in waves, infecting the Saber Corps with a manic bloodlust.
With the fog for cover and the war chant fueling their frenzy, the Saber Corps became unstoppable.
They tore through the enemy like a buzzsaw, leaving behind a trail of mangled limbs and shattered corpses. It was a massacre.
Abyssionâs eyes went wide. This wasnât part of the plan.
More reinforcements?
Under the Saber Corpsâ onslaught, his zombie horde was being decimated. They werenât even slowing the enemy down anymore.
And suddenly, it clicked.
Thatâs what happened to Razorclaw and his hundred thousand troops...
"Iâve gotta stop themânow!"
But the regular horde was useless against this kind of force. Only the S+ tier Zombie Kings had a shot at slowing them down.
Luckily, Frostmere had no shortage of heavy hitters.
Abyssion barked out orders, rallying his elite.
"Get in there! Stop themâwhatever it takes!"
"Got it!" his lieutenants roared back.
Dozens of S+ level Zombie Kings surged forward, their killing intent sharp as blades, charging straight into the black fog to meet the Saber Corps head-on.
"Die, all of you!"
The high-tier Zombie Kings Abyssion had unleashed were no pushovers. Each one boasted terrifying abilitiesâbrutal, relentless, and battle-hardened.
But the black mist ahead only thickened, like the gaping maw of some monstrous beast, swallowing them whole.
Inside, shadows flickeredâgraceful, deadly. The sound of metal scraping against bone echoed through the fog.
Even these elite Zombie Kings began to fall, one by one. Their auras blinked out like dying stars.
"What the hell is going on?!" one of them shouted, panic creeping into his voice. He could feel itâsomething was very, very wrong. A suffocating sense of danger closed in.
He turned to retreatâbut too late.
A girlâs face appeared inches from his own, her smile twisted, eyes gleaming with bloodlust and madness.
Laura.
Before he could react, her razor-sharp claws flashedâand his head went flying.
Another Zombie King, one specialized in speed, locked eyes on the ridge above. There, Elegy stood with her guitar cradled in her arms, her song rising in pitch and intensity.
He knewâshe was the key. Take her out, and the Saber Corps would lose their edge. His side might actually stand a chance.
Assassination was his specialty.
"Youâre dead!"
He darted forward, leaping from rock to rock, closing the distance in seconds. Then, with a final burst of speed, he launched himself into the air like a hawk diving for the kill, claws aimed straight at Elegyâs heart.
Thirty feet. Twenty. Tenâ
Suddenly, something yanked his ankle mid-flight.
"What theâ?!"
He looked down, eyes wide.
A metallic, biomechanical tendril had wrapped around his leg, locking him in place. At the other end stood a hulking figure, half-machine, half-monster.
Bulldozer.
The brute grinned, eyes gleaming with savage glee.
"Die, you worthless mutt!"
BOOM!
With a roar, Bulldozer whipped the Zombie King down like a ragdoll, slamming him into the ground hard enough to shake the earth. Dust exploded into the air.
Then came the stomp.
Bulldozerâs massive boot came crashing down, crushing the speedsterâs skull like a melon.
He wasnât about to waste his chance to shineânot when he finally got to fight alongside the boss.
With the assassin flattened, Bulldozer charged into the fray, tearing through the remaining high-tier zombies like a wrecking ball.
Abyssionâs plan to halt the Saber Corps? Shattered in an instant.
"This... this isnât right!"
He could feel it nowâsomething was off. Way off.
There were too many high-level enemies. And not just thatâthey had tech. Advanced tech. And Laura... she was a walking massacre.
Worse, she radiated the unmistakable aura of the Voidborn Undying.
"Another one of them..."
Abyssionâs gaze swept the battlefield. Not far off, Bloodveil was tearing through the horde like a demon unleashed, cutting a bloody path straight toward him.
"He called me low-IQ? The nerve!"
Bloodveilâs fury burned hot. That insult had struck a nerve, and now he was hellbent on making Abyssion eat those wordsâalong with his own teeth.
"..."
Abyssion clenched his jaw, tension rising. If Bloodveil and Laura closed the distanceâand Wraithshade joined inâheâd be cornered. Outmatched.
Where the hell was Nyssara?
He scanned the battlefield, desperate for backup.
But Nyssaraâs stealth was legendary. Even their own undead couldnât track her when she didnât want to be found.
Unbeknownst to him, just a short distance away, the surface of a shallow puddle began to ripple.
From beneath the water, something emergedâsilent, invisible.
Nyssara.
Her body shimmered like glass, perfectly blending into her surroundings. She had fused with a Chameleon-type strain, allowing her to merge with any surface she touched. Even her aura was completely masked.
She watched quietly, unmoving.
A true predator knew the value of patience.
Bloodveil was getting closer, his killing intent radiating like heat from a furnace. He was heading straight for the water.
Nyssaraâs eyes narrowed, locking onto her prey.
"Youâre mine..."
