The three men and one dog, led by Sun Ruixing, dashed off into the distance.
"Old Sun, fill us in on the strength of those Cannibals!"
This was Wen Yuâs habit. The more he knew about the enemyâs strength before a fight, the greater his chances of victory.
Sun Ruixing recalled for a moment before speaking.
"When they kidnapped me a few days ago, there were four of them. Last night, five came after me! And three of them were the same people both times!"
"I didnât see exactly how many were in their camp, so I can only estimate their numbers based on our two encounters. There arenât many of them!"
"Theyâre all Level 1, with the strongest at Peak Level 1. The others vary in strength. But whatâs strange is that I noticed they donât use any skills in combat!"
"Hmm." Wen Yu mused for a moment before asking again.
"Do they have any distinctive features?"
Sun Ruixingâs expression turned grim. He hesitated for a long moment before answering, "Their complexions are much paler than ordinary people! They give off a sinister, gloomy vibe. And..."
"And what?"
Wen Yu had already sensed Sun Ruixing was hiding something. Hearing his tone now, Wen Yu became even more certain.
"Come on, Old Sun. Just spit it out. You know the one thing I hate most is being lied to!"
Wen Yu began with a hint of a smile in his voice, but by the end, it had turned chillingly sinister.
After a long pause, Sun Ruixing finally told the truth.
"Itâs Li Quanâan. Heâs also become a Cannibal, but I know it wasnât voluntary! So, Brother Wen Yu, I hope you can spare his life later!"
"Oh, so thatâs how it is!"
Wen Yu gave Sun Ruixing a peculiar look. His next words, however, left Sun Ruixing with a bitter expression.
"Why are you all so afraid of me? Iâm actually quite easy to talk to. Besides, Iâm only checking out these Cannibals to satisfy my own curiosity. I want to uncover some of their secrets. As long as they tell me what I want to know, I couldnât be bothered to kill them!"
"Do you really think Iâm some kind of justice-obsessed crusader?"
Sun Ruixing could only respond with a bitter smile and a shake of his head.
Sun Aotian, however, was indignant. Clenching his fists, he yelled at Wen Yu, "If you wonât kill them, I will! These scumbags deserve to die!"
Without turning his head, Wen Yu retorted with a threat, "Kill them if you want. Just make sure to leave a few alive for me. If you impulsively slaughter them all, donât blame me for killing you!"
Cyclops promptly opened his massive jaws and let out a supportive growl.
Sun Aotian fell silent.
"Weâre here."
It wasnât long before Sun Ruixing suddenly stopped and pointed ahead to a low-rise residential building.
"Theyâre in there. From what Iâve observed, these guys donât usually post sentries; they act like this whole place is their territory!"
"Mm."
Wen Yu responded lightly and pulled out a pack of Great China cigarettes from his space ring, offering one to Sun Ruixing.
"Want one?"
Then he gestured towards Sun Aotian with the pack.
Sun Aotianâs eyes lit up. Just as he was about to take the offered cigarette, Wen Yu snatched his hand back and put the cigarette into his own mouth.
He lit it and exhaled a satisfied smoke ring, then said teasingly to Sun Aotian, "Whatâs a little brat like you doing smoking? I have candy here, want some of that instead?"
Seeing Sun Aotianâs embarrassed expression, Wen Yu chuckled contentedly and added, "Since you donât smoke, you go on ahead. Iâll back you up as soon as I finish this cigarette!"
Sun Aotian glanced at Wen Yu, then at Sun Ruixing. He yanked the steel saber from his back and shouted indignantly, "Fine, Iâll go! Whatâs there to be afraid of?"
With that, he dashed straight towards the dilapidated building.
Wen Yuâs voice drifted to him from behind, "Donât forget to leave a few alive. Iâm not joking. And I hope you remember what I look like when Iâm not joking."
"Can he handle it by himself?"
Sun Ruixing was a bit worried about Sun Aotianâs safety.
Wen Yu, however, looked relaxed. "A Level 2 Professionist with over ten physique pointsâif he canât even handle something like this, then all his strength has truly gone to the dogs!"
Cyclops chimed in with a couple of barks.
"I wasnât talking about you; itâs just a figure of speech."
Wen Yu chuckled and lightly kicked Cyclops.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
While Wen Yu and Sun Ruixing were chatting, gunfire suddenly erupted from the building.
"Damn it! They have guns!"
Sun Ruixing immediately threw down his cigarette butt and rushed forward, weapon in hand.
"Mm."
Wen Yu carefully listened, trying to distinguish the sounds of gunfire from within the building, then calmly blew a smoke ring.
"A 5.56mm caliber automatic rifle and police handguns... The danger level is practically nil!"
This insight stemmed from Wen Yuâs past life experiences. In the hands of a Level 2 Archer, such weapons could pose a certain threat to Wen Yu. But when wielded by non-professionals without skill enhancements against an opponent equivalent to a superhuman wearing an E-Class protective suit, weapons of this caliber were almost laughable!
As it turned out, Wen Yuâs judgment was correct.
The gunfire inside the building grew more intense, but Sun Aotianâs intermittent roars assured them he hadnât taken a fatal hit.
For a Level 2 Professionist, as long as a bullet of this caliber didnât directly hit an unprotected area, they could withstand the impact.
Before long, by the time Wen Yu had finished his cigarette, the sounds from inside the building had mostly died down.
Tossing aside his cigarette butt, Wen Yu nonchalantly strolled into the Cannibalsâ hideout with Cyclops.
Inside the small building, they occasionally came across headless corpsesâvictims of Sun Aotianâs violent attacks. Hot bullet casings were scattered on the ground.
It was only when he reached the fourth floor that Wen Yu finally saw living people.
Sun Aotian was sprawled on a large chair. Beside him, Sun Ruixing used a steel saber to continuously dig out bullets lodged in Sun Aotianâs muscles.
There were many bullet wounds, but Sun Aotian had taken them all head-on.
The biggest difference between police and military firearms is that police firearms emphasize stopping power rather than lethality.
While effective against ordinary thugs, this stopping power and lethality barely fazed Sun Aotian. The bullets had only managed to penetrate his E-Class protective suit and lodge themselves in his muscles.
"Tsk tsk, not bad, kid! Taking bullets head-on like thatâyouâve got the makings of a superhero!"
Hearing Wen Yuâs teasing, Sun Aotian looked somewhat sheepish.
"Actually, I really didnât expect these guns to be so weak! When the first bullet hit me, I thought I was a goner. But then, I just felt around, and I could just dig the bullet out..."
