"Ah?!"
Lin Feng was a little embarrassed; after all, he was the one without any clothes on. But when he saw Sister-in-law Yurouâs charming smile and alluring expression, his embarrassment was tinged with a flutter of his heart.
So he turned back around and stammered out a noncommittal "Mm."
A triumphant smile touched Zhang Yurouâs lips. She walked up behind Lin Feng, slowly crouched down, picked up a towel, lathered it with soap, and began to scrub his back.
Lin Feng swallowed hard, his body starting to feel a certain itch.
This was the first time he had ever been in such close, intimate contact with a woman.
The real sensation of her smooth, soft, and supple skin was truly sublime.
A scene he had once only fantasized about was now a reality.
As he enjoyed the moment, Sister-in-law Yurouâs sweet, soft voice drifted to his ear. She pressed close to his ear, and her warm breath brushed across his face as she spoke, as fragrant as an orchid:
"Xiaofeng, do you like your sister-in-law?"
A tremor ran through Lin Feng. Not knowing how to answer, he just kept his head down and gave a slight nod.
Zhang Yurouâs laughter followed from behind him:
"Actually, your big sister feels the same way."
"That son of a bitch Lin Youzhi hasnât touched me in years. Iâve been bringing you dinner every night. How have you not gotten the hint yet?"
The situation was developing far beyond Lin Fengâs expectations. He had planned to take things step-by-step to fulfill his big brotherâs last words, but he never thought his widowed sister-in-law would be the one to make a move on him...
Now that Sister-in-law Yurou had opened up to him...
Lin Feng was both shocked and delighted.
However, before Lin Feng could respond, Sister-in-law Yurou reached out and wrapped her arms around the big boy in front of her. Her tone was teasing and full of temptation:
"So... how are you going to âlikeâ your big sister?"
Lin Feng turned his head, his lips meeting his sister-in-lawâs. As she took the lead, he raised his head to embrace her in a kiss.
...
...
An hour later, Lin Feng, wearing a pair of baggy shorts, walked out of the bathroom feeling refreshed. Following behind him, Zhang Yurou, wrapped only in a white bath towel, blushed as she scurried into the bedroom.
Lin Feng walked to the dining table, picked up a half-full bucket of water from the floor, and guzzled it down to quench his thirst. Then, he glanced over at Chen Yanyan, who was getting up from the sofa.
Having waited for a long time, she revealed a meaningful smile. She then unzipped her jacket and took off her tight-fitting top and athletic pants, one by one.
âFinally, my turn to wash up.â
Dressed only in her underwear, Chen Yanyanâs exquisite and tall figure was on full display.
You can get surgery for your looks, but body proportions are natural. The Chen Yanyan before him undoubtedly possessed the perfect upper-to-lower body ratio. Her two round, slender legs were longer than her entire upper body, even when she was barefoot...
As she walked over lightly on her tiptoes, Lin Feng felt as if he were watching a top model on a runway.
âItâs just a pity her upper body is too slender; she doesnât possess the same proud assets as my sister-in-law.â
âBut with those perfect long legs and her beautiful, youthful face alone, Chen Yanyan could definitely be considered a top-tier beauty.â
Seeing Lin Feng staring at her intently, Chen Yanyan revealed a smug smile, her confidence growing.
She slowly walked up to the man and tutted twice.
"I really didnât expect this. Your sister-in-law just became a widow today, and General Manager Linâs body is barely cold downstairs... Youâre in no position to criticize me anymore..."
Lin Feng cleared his throat, his expression serious.
"I promised my big brother that I would take good care of his wife. Naturally, I must pay close attention to her physical and mental well-being. I canât break my promise."
Hearing this, Chen Yanyan snorted with laughter, unable to hold it in any longer. She then leaned in, pressing herself halfway against Lin Fengâs chest, and spoke in a gentle voice:
"Well then, Brother Xiaofeng, do you want to take care of your âsecond sister-in-lawâ too?"
Lin Feng rolled his eyes and dodged to the side.
"Alright, go take a shower. You stink of sweat. Thereâs only enough water left for one person to get clean..."
"Iâm not going to join in on the fun."
With that, he strode toward the bedroom.
His sister-in-law was waiting for him in there, ready to pour out her heart through tears.
Chen Yanyan huffed and stomped her foot in anger. She walked to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. âThis pretty face, five or six years younger than Zhang Yurouâs, and this perfect body... How am I any worse than her?â
âExcept for my chest being a little flat, but thatâs only because my family was poor when I was a child and I didnât get enough nutrition.â
Chen Yanyan sized herself up. âAs long as I work at it, I still have a good chance of winning over Lin Feng.â
âAfter all, itâs impossible that heâll only have his sister-in-law by his side.â
By the time Chen Yanyan finished her shower and came out of the bathroom, the sky outside was completely dark.
Wearing the white shirt from her uniform, she lay on the sofa with her bare legs, putting on headphones to listen to music for comfort as she began the long nightâs watch.
From the next room came the sound of her sister-in-lawâs muffled, trembling sobs. âShe must be heartbroken tonight after losing her husband.â Chen Yanyan felt a sense of empathy and couldnât help but sigh repeatedly.
Time passed, second by second...
Near midnight, all was silent.
Chen Yanyan heard snoring from inside the bedroom. She took off her headphones and started looking for a power bank.
Meanwhile, out in the hallway on the sixth-floor landing, the other six survivors of Building Six were struggling through the long night.
They were hungry and thirsty, and a cold wind whistled through the corridor.
The middle-aged woman who had spoken up earlier complained resentfully:
"This isnât a solution. We have to escape and find help. If we just keep waiting, weâll starve to death."
A well-informed old man beside her, shivering, had a look of sorrow in his eyes.
"If itâs really like the news on the phones said, there wonât be any rescue. Since the bugs could attack the land from the sea, it means the navies of every country have already been wiped out. And the Federation Army has been downsized for years..."
"Even if a million troops were all mobilized to come here, spread out over a coastline thousands of miles long, Hai City would get thirty or forty thousand at most..."
"We... can only save ourselves."
The middle-aged woman nodded, agreeing completely.
"Weiguo used to be a soldier, heâs right. We have to find a way to save ourselves, not just fantasize about being rescued."
A young woman beside them pushed up her glasses.
"That group on the third floor isnât just relying on guns."
"Today I was hiding on the fourth-floor landing and heard them talking outside Room 201..."
"It seems... you get stronger by killing those giant bugs. The more you kill, the stronger you get. You all saw that crimson shield they have. It was stripped from a giant bugâs body. If we have one, we wonât have to worry about being attacked by the bugs either."
"Judging by their tone and attitude, even if they escape, they wonât take us with them..."
"Today, they were in Room 201, frantically killing bugs. If we want to save ourselves, we have to do the same thing: kill bugs, Upgrade and get stronger, and then... escape!"
The middle-aged womanâs eyes lit up.
"Kid, youâve got good eyes and ears. Tell us, about how many bugs did they kill today?"
The young woman estimated.
"All the giant bugs downstairs that were originally attracted by the gunshots were killed by them. They killed at least five..."
The middle-aged woman snickered under her breath.
"There are only three of them, so theyâd only need three shields at most, right? They couldnât carry any more than that..."
"In that case, there should be two more giant bug carapaces in Room 201 downstairs."
"There are six of us. Even if weâre not as young as them, more hands can help, right? Iâve already brought a kitchen knife and scissors from my kitchen..."
"While that group is asleep, letâs go downstairs and see if we can pick up the scraps. If weâre lucky, we might even be able to kill one!"
"If we wait until morning when they wake up, we wonât even get the dregs..."
The other five looked at each other, then nodded in unison.
...
...
Around midnight, Chen Yanyan was feeling a bit drowsy and wanted to find a power bank to charge her phone.
After taking off her headphones, she suddenly heard waves of miserable screams from downstairs.
Perhaps because of the distance and the several floors of walls in between, the sounds werenât very loud, but they were exceptionally shrill.
âThey probably went downstairs on their own and ran into the giant bugs.â Chen Yanyanâs first thought was of the survivors from upstairs.
After hesitating for a moment, Chen Yanyan put on her clothes and jacket, picked up the Red Armor Shield and Long Saber, and prepared to go out and check on the situation. If she was lucky, she might even be able to kill a few more giant bugs.
But just as she mustered her courage and stood in the entryway, ready to open the door, a low voice interrupted her.
"What do you think youâre doing?"
Chen Yanyan slowly turned around and saw a slender figure standing outside the master bedroom door. It was her sister-in-law, Zhang Yurou. She spoke again:
"Going to save people who have nothing to do with you?"
Chen Yanyan swallowed, her back breaking out in a sweat. She walked back and lowered her head, admitting her mistake.
"Iâm sorry. I shouldnât have acted on my own."
"I was just thinking, maybe I could use the chaos and use them to kill a few more bugs."
Zhang Yurou didnât respond. She turned and walked to the balcony.
In the moonlight, she wore a sheer nightgown, her graceful figure underneath faintly visible.
Her sister-in-lawâs face was rosy, her expression calm.
Chen Yanyan put down the shield and the Long Saber. Like a child who had done something wrong, she walked over to Zhang Yurou. She knew very well that from this night on, her fate was in Yurouâs hands.
Zhang Yurou took a pack of cigarettes out of a cabinet, pulled out a slim cigarette, and lit it for herself. Then, she offered one to Chen Yanyan.
"No, I donât smoke..."
Chen Yanyan replied hastily, twisting the corner of her clothes.
Zhang Yurou pulled the pack back. After taking a deep drag, she exhaled a puff of faint white smoke. She then looked down out the window. Outside, by the newly bought Mercedes-Benz, Lin Youzhiâs corpse had been gnawed beyond recognition by the Red-Armored Beetles.
"How long were you with him..."
Chen Yanyan froze for a moment, but she quickly realized what was being asked. She frantically waved her hands and shook her head, desperately trying to explain.
"No, Sister-in-law, Iâm sorry, I was wrong..."
"Itâs my fault, Iâm sorry..."
"But I can guarantee, there was never... that kind of thing between us! General Manager Lin promoted me, but it was just to have me accompany him to business dinners..."
Zhang Yurou flicked her ash, cutting off the rambling Chen Yanyan.
"I know..."
"I know he couldnât get it up anymore..."
With that, she took a long drag from her cigarette, staring at the woman before her with a meaningful smile. She spoke as she exhaled:
"Because... Iâm the one who did it."
In an instant, Chen Yanyanâs pupils contracted violently.
Her back went numb, and her hands and feet turned ice-cold.
The shrill screams from the distance were nothing compared to the faint crackle of the cigarette burning between Zhang Yurouâs fingers, which now sounded deafeningly loud.
