A spiritual connection was a mysterious and profound thing.
This was especially apparent when it came to perception.
Similar to quantum sensing, it could traverse vast distances, even barriers of time, allowing two life forms to resonate with each other.
Right now, this parasitic host was being remotely controlled by the Mother Empress it served. Her consciousness was projected directly into this zerg body, triggering an even more severe and grotesque mutation.
It was hard to tell if the arrival of the Mother Empressâs consciousness had intensified its deformity, or if its flesh had to swell to contain the Mother Empressâs Spiritual Energy.
In any case, even for someone as worldly as Lin Feng, witnessing this firsthand was a truly disgusting experience.
Furthermore, the mutated, humanoid zerg form that had collapsed to the ground emanated waves of Energy, triggering Lin Fengâs own Mind Sensing. It created a sudden, fleeting connection with Jiang Yunâer, thousands of miles away.
He sensed her in a villa somewhere, slumped listlessly on a sofa.
At the same time, Jiang Yunâer instantly sensed Lin Fengâs presence, empathizing with his disgust and shock.
But the connection wasnât stable.
It only lasted for a few seconds before vanishing.
Both frowned simultaneously. One, confused, rubbed her chest, while the other raised his weapon.
Faced with the "Mother Empressâs" offer, Lin Feng shook his head.
"Tiger Spine Zergs? I can kill those myself. Donât trouble yourself sending them over."
"There are so many Mother Empresses in the South. I can just fleece a dozen or so from each one. I wonât be short of Zergs to kill."
A slight smile touched Lin Fengâs lips as he spoke.
"Once Iâve killed a hundred or so Tiger Spine Zergs and reached the Tier Two Late Stage Peak, itâll be doomsday for all of you Mother Empresses."
The Mother Empress didnât refute Lin Fengâs threat. After all, the power this Human Awakener had displayed gave him the right to be arrogant.
If he were truly allowed to reach Tier Two Perfection, or even Tier Three, he would become a grave threat to the Zerg Raceâa Mother Empress killer among the Human Race.
The problem, however, was that while Lin Fengâs Upgrade speed seemed fast, that was only when compared to other humans. Against the backdrop of the global Zerg Race invasion, it was nothing.
Once the battle for Wu City was over, the Mother Empress would lead the Zerg Raceâs great army to swallow hundreds of miles of coastline in one fell swoop. The resources gathered would be enough to allow them to enter the Tier Three Late Stage, perhaps even... that final step.
Even if Lin Feng reached Tier Three by then, he would still be powerless against enemies on a completely different level.
And so, the Mother Empress, writhing incessantly on the ground, didnât argue with Lin Fengâs words, but simply continued.
"Thatâs right. But by the time youâve spent a month or more rushing about, killing enough Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs to finally achieve your Tier Three Awakening, humanity will already be without a future..."
"Of the tens of thousands of Mother Empresses who have made landfall, many have already reached the Tier Three Late Stage. The day they unite will be the day your human race goes extinct."
The cold, hoarse words made Lin Fengâs heart tighten. He remembered what Qin Hu had said...
The Federal Capital in the North was about to be invaded by more than eight Mother Empresses, forcing the recently modified Qin Hu to travel hundreds of miles to provide reinforcements.
A single Tier Three Early Stage Mother Empress could easily handle tens of thousands of human soldiers. With eight of them working together, there was bound to be a terrifying Tier Three Middle Stage presence among them...
Without two or three hundred thousand veteran soldiers and a robust logistical system, the Federal Capital probably wouldnât last more than a few days.
The Mother Empressâs meaning was perfectly clear.
Lin Fengâs rate of Upgrading couldnât keep pace with the speed of humanityâs collapse. Even if he eventually broke through to Tier Three, he would still be far weaker than most Mother Empresses by then.
He would still be utterly suppressed.
Take the Hai City Mother Empress, for example. Her power was bound to advance by leaps and bounds after the battle for Wu City. No matter how hard Lin Feng tried, he would struggle to contend with her.
He simply couldnât compensate for how fast his teammates were feeding the enemy.
But by making a deal with the Mother Empress, Lin Feng could easily obtain the Upgrade Points he needed and rise through the ranks quickly.
After all, he could only âfleeceâ each Mother Empress once. They werenât idiots; if they couldnât win, they would just hide in their Underground Nest.
If he averaged ten kills per encounter, Lin Feng would need to find at least ten Mother Empresses just to finish upgrading himself and his two pieces of equipment. That wasnât even counting his third, un-bonded piece of gear, which would only increase the number required.
Ten Mother Empresses meant ten major cities.
That was an area equivalent to two Coastal Provinces, spanning nearly a thousand kilometers from north to south. Even if Lin Feng traveled solo on his Land Patrol Battleship, it would take at least a month, all told.
By then, most of the Mother Empresses would have already ascended to a higher tier, and Lin Feng still wouldnât be able to withstand a frontal assault from several of them at once.
Lin Feng had been basing his future strategies on the Mother Empressesâ current combat power.
If he factored in the Mother Empressesâ own Upgrades and enhancements, then Lin Fengâs growth rate truly wasnât fast enough.
Even though he was already the most powerful Awakener in the Human Race...
He couldnât turn the tide by himself.
âUnless... unless he could kill a huge number of the Tier Two Zerg Race in a short amount of time, accumulate enough Upgrade Points, and successfully repel the invasion of an Early-stage Mother Empress...â
âIf he was lucky, he might even manage to kill one in the process!â
âAnd ascend directly to a Tier Three Awakener!â
âAt that point, when facing the Mother Empresses who would mostly still be in the Tier Three Early Stage, he would have the confidence to fight them any time!â
âBacked by his army of Awakeners, even challenging several Mother Empresses at once wouldnât be a problem!â
