Chapter 308: Chapter 307: The Secret Beneath the Swarm of Snakes (2) Chapter 308: Chapter 307: The Secret Beneath the Swarm of Snakes (2) âNot this way, take that path.â
Su Shu was wondering what the dark shadow ahead was when suddenly a voice came from her lower abdomen, startling her.
She looked down and realized the Little Snake King had woken up, and she was overjoyed.
âYouâre awake?â
âMhm, Iâm awake. Is it almost dawn?â
âAlmost, thereâs a glimmer of light on the horizon already. How about you, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?â
âIâm fine. You should go that way, this path is blocked.â Little Snake King poked its head out of the opening, looked around for a moment, slithered up Su Shuâs arm, and eventually climbed onto her neck and shoulders to settle down, finding it much more comfortable than being inside the waist bag.
Su Shu already felt the chill of the night, and now it was acting like the boss climbing onto her neck. If it werenât for the danger in the mountains, she definitely wouldnât pamper it so much.
Following Little Snake Kingâs direction, Su Shu chose another path.
Along the way, Su Shu was curious about its intermittent consciousness and asked several times if it really wasnât feeling unwell, only to be met with the Little Snake Kingâs contemptuous gaze.
âYou think Iâm as frail as you humans?â
But it didnât fully explain the reason, only simply accounted for the blood-red eyes the night before.
âThe moon turned red last night, so I guessed something nearby must be off. Didnât I tell you to inquire if thereâs anything special around here, last time?â
âYou did mention it, but no one around here knows anything. Prior to the Apocalypse, no one lived in the safe area; it was a natural zone. If the Apocalypse hadnât happened, people wouldnât have gathered around here. Nobody heard of anything special.â
Crossing a deep pit, Su Shu asked, âWhat do you mean by âspecialâ?â
Little Snake King didnât answer. Perhaps it too thought it was unreliable to let an ordinary person handle this.
âGo to the left.â
âCircle around that big tree.â
âWait a second.â
âŠ
âWeâre here!â
Under Little Snake Kingâs sporadic commands, by the time it was light, Su Shu finally reached a protruding grave.
In front of the grave stood a Wordless Stele.
Su Shu was shocked. All the trouble of going up the mountain at night was just to find a grave?
A grave?! Whose?
Exhausted, Su Shu slumped to the ground, staring at the eerie grave deep in the mountains. She felt sheâd been acting like a fool all night, led in circles by this damned snake.
After catching her breath, her voice turned cold.
âDonât tell me, you had me climb over hill and dale in the middle of the night just to find a tomb. Where the hell is the snake swarm?!â
The Little Snake King slithered off her neck, raised half of its body, and surveyed the grave, equally puzzled.
âThis isnât rightâŠâ
Irritated, Su Shu threw what was at hand onto its body, âItâs not right! In the dead of night, are you playing me?! Wasnât it about finding a snake swarm? Does your snake swarm look like this?!â
Do you know how terrified I was all night, almost scaring myself to death? Iâve never trekked through the woods in the dark, let alone gone this deep. How am I supposed to get back, lying here paralyzed? Am I supposed to crawl back?
Now, not only was the snake swarm nowhere to be found, but an Unnamed Tombstone was discovered deep in the mountains where hardly anybody goes.
The more I think about it, the more unsettling it seems. Watching the snake head that kept moving around, Iâm getting a little worried.
This damned snake probably hasnât been locked up in space for so long that it has lost its manaâŠ
Little Snake King turned its head and glared at Su Shu: âThere must be something strange about this!â
Su Shu sneered thrice, âStrange, my foot!â
