As they rummaged, they were still cursing. "Damn that fucking bitch, looking down on us brothers."
"Sooner or later, weâll make her regret it."
"Exactly. Sheâs only acting tough because she has a gun. Without it, sheâd be ours to do with as we please. What gives her the right to be so arrogant in front of us!"
"Itâs just because she has powerful backers. She just got lucky, but a personâs luck canât last forever."
"Girls like her used to throw themselves at us back in the day."
"Iâve memorized the faces of those people just now. How dare they treat us like that. If we get the chance, weâll get our revenge and show them the price of underestimating us."
The two of them rummaged through the bodies for anything useful, all while hurling curses at Stella Sterling.
People are strange. The ones from Sanctyr Base had captured them and nearly turned them into food.
Yet in front of their captors, these two were meek and subservient, not daring to make a peep. They practically prayed to be ignored, to be forgotten, not daring to utter a single harsh word.
But Stella Sterling had saved them. Although she hadnât given them food or taken them with her,
she had still helped them escape the jaws of death and had done them no harm.
Yet for this alone, they came to resent Stella Sterling, as if she were their greatest enemy.
Not only did they harbor hatred for Stella, but they also cursed her relentlessly...
Setting off once more, there were now six more people on the boat.
Stella Sterling told them to find a place for themselves, then ordered Shane Lawrence, "Take care of those two."
Shane Lawrence froze for a second, but he didnât ask any questions. He immediately went to carry out Stella Sterlingâs command.
BANG, BANG.
The people on the boat heard two gunshots!
The two men who had been left behind thought everyone had already gone. They never expected them to pull something like this.
Before the two could even react, the resentful expressions still on their faces and their mouths half-open in a curse, they collapsed to the ground, all signs of life gone.
Hearing the gunshots, the people on the boat exchanged confused glances. They didnât understand what had happened. Had there been another sudden danger?
The two researcher brothers ran out onto the deck and saw the other two men who had been captured with them lying on the ground.
The boat had already started moving, and the scene slowly receded into the distance.
The brothers looked at each other. The gunshots had come from their boat, so they knew exactly who was responsible.
Everyone on the boat followed Sterlingâs commands, which meant Sterling had ordered those two men killed.
The two looked at each other again. The older one said, "Sterling may be young, but her mind is hard to read. She can be kind, but sheâs also ruthless. We need to change our ways from now on and just focus on our work."
They didnât know why Sterling had suddenly decided to kill those two men, but they felt no sympathy for their deaths.
Those two were hardly good people. They had all been captured together. The people from Sanctyr Base had bullied them, but instead of blaming Sanctyr Base or trying to escape together, those two had found every opportunity to bully the researchers instead.
This end... they completely deserved it.
The two returned inside the boat in silence, saying and asking nothing.
The little boy also ran out to look, then came back and asked, "Sterling, did you kill those two men?"
Hearing his question, Stella Sterling glanced at him and nodded curtly. "Yes."
From the very beginning, those two men had reacted differently from everyone else when the little girl was nearly thrown into the pot; they were full of schadenfreude.
Afterward, when the others were thanking her, those two had worn expressions of disdain.
Later, when the old man was distributing food, he gave some to the two researcher brothers but not to those two men. It was clear they were very unpopular.
At the very least, the others didnât like them.
But none of that really mattered. Everyone makes their own choices, and she wasnât one to meddle in othersâ affairs.
Whether those two were good or bad, or whatever they had done before, had nothing to do with her.
But they had sealed their fates the moment they opened their mouths to curse her.
Those two thought that once she was on the boat, she wouldnât be able to hear them. So they started cursing her without restraint, each insult uglier than the last.
But Stella Sterlingâs senses, both sight and hearing, were now incredibly sharp.
And they had shouted their curses so loudly to vent their dissatisfaction that she had heard every single word.
âSo, youâre not happy with me, huh? Calling me a fucking bitch, are you? Planning to get revenge on me later, is that it?â
âIf thatâs the case, then Iâll just send you to hell first.â
âThey might just be two ants who could never hurt me.â
âBut why should I let people who want me dead remain in this world?â
âPotential threats should be eliminated early, lest they grow into major disasters.â
âCrush them before they have a chance to grow, before they have the power to deal with meâthat is my rule of survival.â
âI can kill them right now, so why would I let them live, only to solve the problem when they become a real threat in the future?â
âIf they had to blame someone, they should blame themselves for not holding their tongues a little longer. If they had just waited until I was truly gone, I wouldnât have heard them.â
âSo now, their fate... they can only blame themselves. They deserved it.â
âWhy on earth should I spare someone Iâd saved, only for them to resent me for it? The very thought is infuriating.â
âRather than let that annoyance fester, itâs better to just get rid of it.â
Hearing Stella Sterling admit it so readily, the others were a little confused.
It was clear from the start that Sterling didnât seem to like those two men. Otherwise, she wouldnât have taken all six of them and left just the two behind without a second thought.
But it didnât seem like the two men had done anything to Sterling, so why did she make such a decision?
Besides, in their eyes, the fact that Sterling was willing to take them in meant she was a kind person, not someone who would slaughter the innocent.
Had they been enemies before this?
However, these people knew their place and didnât ask any questions. In fact, they felt a sense of satisfaction.
Those two deserved it!!!
But while they were overthinking it, the little girlâs thoughts were much simpler. She spoke up directly: "Big sister, those two were bad guys. They always bullied us. Iâm glad you killed them!"
The little girl in front of her had wide eyes and messy black hair. Her gaze held an innocence that adults no longer possessed.
At this moment, she was looking up at her, her eyes blinking with excitement.
Stella Sterling reached out and stroked her head. "Yes. Big sister got revenge for you."
