Stella Sterling was quite satisfied with the outcome, especially with Julian Fletcher and Seven Lockeâs outstanding performance.
Julian Fletcher and Seven Locke were a bit younger, and Stella Sterling had taken notice of them, so they were included in the first group she trained.
In dealing with the eight enemies, the two of them took the lead, with the others providing support from the side.
Of the eight, seven were now dead and one had fled. Julian Fletcher and another person were in pursuit.
Stella Sterling wasnât surprised by this result. Although those people looked fierce, it was clear from their attacks that they relied on brute force and had no real technique.
Her people, on the other hand, had not lacked for food or drink this past year. It wasnât that they ate lavishly, but they never went hungry, and their bodies had grown incredibly strong over the year.
They had fought their way out of a crowd to be selected in the first place, so they were already strong. After more than a year of conditioning and training, if they couldnât even handle a few outsiders like this, all the food she had spent on them would have been a waste.
Stella Sterling and the others waited. A short while later, Julian Fletcher and the other person returned with the woman in black.
The woman was struggling violently. Julian Fletcher and the other man were both injured, but they held her down firmly.
"Who the hell are you?"
The woman in black with the high ponytail, pinned to the ground, glared viciously at Stella Sterling.
"You donât even know who we are, yet you charged in so bravely. No wonder you lost."
Stella Sterling watched her with a faint smile.
She sized up the woman. Sheâd observed earlier that this womanâs skills were quite formidable, and she was also smarter than the others, having been the first to run the moment she sensed something was wrong.
"You won, so of course, whatever you say goes. I have nothing to say."
The woman in black snorted coldly and turned her head away.
Her escape had failed, so she could already imagine her fate. The others were all dead; she held no hope of surviving.
"Sterling, what should we do with this one? Sheâs incredibly cunning and despicable. I suggest we kill her now to prevent future trouble!"
Julian Fletcher said, looking at Stella Sterling.
It was a good thing he had brought someone with him, otherwise he might have died at her hands and she would have escaped.
Hearing this, the womanâs reaction was calm; she showed no fear at the mention of death.
This, however, piqued Stella Sterlingâs interest. She even felt a little impressed.
She leaned down, drew closer, and lifted the womanâs chin, looking into her eyes. "Tsk, tsk. This defiant look... itâs just my type. How about you consider following me?"
Stella Sterlingâs face suddenly moved close to the woman in black. Although she had smudged her own face with dirt, her underlying features were still there, and her eyes were very beautiful.
Now, those eyes were right in front of her, gazing at her with a faint, smiling expression. The woman in blackâs heart skipped a beat.
Her eyes widened slightly!
âSuch an intimate gesture, and such suggestive words... Donât tell me this woman is interested in me?â
She hesitated for a moment, thinking that being alive was actually quite nice. With some embarrassment, she began, "If... if youâre into women, I suppose it wouldnât be impossible for me to follow you..."
Stella Sterling was stunned for a second or two, then she understood what the other woman meant.
She also realized the woman had completely misinterpreted her words.
At the side, Caeluna and the others stared wide-eyed when they heard the womanâs words.
âHow dare this woman have ideas about our Sterlingââ
âOur Sterling is so beautiful, so powerful, and so capable. How could this woman possibly be worthy of her? She should take a good look in the mirror.â
Seven Locke glanced hesitantly at Stella Sterling. âSterling couldnât possibly have... that kind of hobby, could she? If she does, then I... then I...â
Just then, Stella Sterling released the womanâs chin and took two steps back. "Donât. Iâm not interested in that."
The woman in black glared at her coldly. "Then what did you mean by that? Did you want me to be your subordinate?"
Seemingly embarrassed at being rejected by Stella Sterling, she too gave a cold refusal. "Hmph. You want me to work for you? Impossible."
After a momentâs thought, she felt she shouldnât be so absolute. Though she wasnât afraid of death, that didnât mean she didnât want to live.
So she continued, "Unless... unless you feed me."
"Haha!"
Stella Sterling burst out laughing. âIt really pays to get out more, you meet such interesting people and see such interesting things.â
âThis person has some skill and some brains, so Iâll give her a chance to live. But itâs up to her whether she can seize it.â
She watched the womanâs eyes darting back and forth and knew that although she verbally agreed to submit, her heart wasnât in it. She was probably already scheming, and might even try to backstab her at the first opportunity.
Julian Fletcher grew anxious at the side. "Sterling, donât trust her! Sheâs incredibly cunning." When he had fought her just now, she had pretended to surrender upon seeing she was outmatched. The moment he let his guard down, she seized the chance to try and kill him. If he hadnât reacted quickly and had a partner by his side, he might have died at her hands.
âThereâs no way I believe sheâs truly surrendered. Sheâs definitely plotting something!â
Hearing this, the woman shot Julian Fletcher a glare. Then she sneered, "I already said it. As long as youâre willing to feed me, Iâll submit to you and work for you. Believe it or donât, I donât care. If you donât, the worst you can do is kill me."
Stella Sterling raised an eyebrow. Of course, she didnât believe a word the woman said.
âThese people were well-equipped, and they even managed to get a boat. That means they werenât doing too badly in this apocalypse. Their skills were lacking, but they must have had some good opportunities.â
âShe estimated they probably had a good amount of supplies on them. Thereâs no way someone like that would submit just because I can offer her a meal.â
âBut it doesnât matter...â
Stella Sterling smiled, took a pill out of her bag, and held it out to the woman. "Eat this, and Iâll believe you truly want to submit. As long as you eat it, you can keep your life."
Staring at the pill in Stella Sterlingâs hand, a flicker of conflict crossed the woman in blackâs eyes. She didnât know what it was or what would happen if she ate it.
But one thing she was sure of now was that if she didnât eat it, she would die right here, right now.
In other words, this was her only chance.
So, after looking up at Stella Sterling one last time, she said nothing more, took the pill from her hand, and swallowed it.
However, being forced to eat this unknown object left a foul taste in her mouth, and her face was a mask of defiance.
"Haha! Very good! Youâve got guts!"
Stella Sterling said with a laugh, then applauded for the woman.
