"Brother Su, Iâll go deal with the zombies!"
Lu Yubo saw Tan Huajun lying on the ground with her eyes rolled back, probably needing a moment to recover. He grabbed the food sampler and strode towards the zombies, looking every bit like someone ready to give his all.
"Xiaoshan, you take care of Old Tan! Xinyu, are you hurt?"
Zhang Su picked up the large caliper that belonged to Tan Huajun from the ground and headed towards the zombies, asking along the way.
Zheng Xinyu hefted her baseball bat and followed Zhang Su, shaking her head and saying, "Iâm tough, donât worry!"
Four zombies, but not coming all at once. Zhang Su and the others easily dealt with them, while Lu Yubo, using the food sampler for the first time, managed to kill two in a single breath!
Lu Yuboâs face was full of excitement. He swung the food sampler in his hand, saying, "Brother Su, this thing is amazing!"
Just now, he felt like he only gently pushed forward, and the food sampler smoothly pierced through the zombieâs eye socket into its brain, and the zombie fell lifelessly to the ground. The killing efficiency was simply phenomenal!
He felt that if it came to a one-man defense situation, killing a hundred zombies would not be a problem.
"Stop swinging that! Itâs covered in blood, clean it up and store it properly!"
Zhang Su instructed, turning back to see Tan Huajun already standing up with Zhong Xiaoshanâs support, her face pale, with drool at the corner of her mouth, but she could still walk and move her limbs without any issues.
"Iâve already seasoned your weapon for you, itâs really useful!"
Saying this, he handed the heavy caliper to Tan Huajun.
Tan Huajun accepted the blood-stained and sticky caliper, her expression complex as she thanked him.
"Old Tan, once you get over this wall, youâre truly entering a new world. Donât harbor any wishful thinking, and donât indulge in unrealistic mercy. You might have no plans, but you must follow orders, understand?"
Zhang Su said seriously, still unsure if he could successfully incorporate her into the team, so he didnât use the [Insight Label] on Tan Huajun, knowing very little about her, he took extra time to explain.
Tan Huajun seriously nodded, her bun hair humorously fluffing up as gray dust fell from her head.
Zhang Su, while picking up his bag and putting it on his back, examined the alley seriously. This alley usually wasnât frequented by many people, surprisingly clean on its cobblestone path, with no other bodies besides the four zombies they had disposed of!
He pointed to the depths of the alley and said, "Head to the back door!"
He learned from Tan Huajun that the Phoenix International District has three entrances and exits. The main street gate allows vehicles, the side street gate only allows vehicles and pedestrians, and the back door adjoining other districts is pedestrian-only.
The group moved along the districtâs wall quickly arriving at the end of the alley.
"Stop, stop, stop!"
Zhang Su spread his arms, calling softly.
Now, before the group lay a road barely wide enough for two cars, but the situation on this road was far worse than the alley!
A dozen or so zombies were wandering on the road towards the Phoenix International back door at the left, and the situation on the right side was no better; there were four or five zombies nearby, along with a patch of unknown use corrugated iron huts!
Meanwhile, opposite them was another districtâs wall, and not far away was also a back door. However, due to the angle, they couldnât see what was inside, but it seemed likely that zombies were present.
Zhang Su was well aware that if they went left to kill zombies, the zombies on the right would definitely be alerted, totaling up to about twenty zombies, which posed considerable pressure.
Even if they managed to use various techniques to deal with the zombies, they couldnât ensure more wouldnât be drawn during the process. If another batch came from the two districts, there would be no way out afterward!
"Brother Su, Iâll lead the charge!"
Lu Yubo, with his new gear, was brimming with confidence, volunteering to fight.
"No way! Itâs too risky, we canât be reckless."
Zhang Su immediately stopped Lu Yubo, as the decision-makers shouldered the fate of the entire team, and couldnât take uncalculated risks when there was a choice!
He explained his assessment to the group, and even Lu Yubo had to concede, realizing he hadnât considered much, only thinking that with his powerful weapon, a few zombies werenât worth mentioning.
"Climb the wall! Climbing the wall is the safest."
Zhang Su pondered and decided on scaling the wall to enter the district.
"Climb, climb the wall?"
Tan Huajun wasnât questioning the feasibility of the decision but doubting her own ability.
However, the situation offered no time for Tan Huajun to doubt!
Just then, three zombies wearing construction helmets suddenly emerged from the iron huts on the right side of the road, marking only the beginning, as twenty more quickly followed.
It turned out to be a temporary dwelling for construction workers!
As if sensing Zhang Su and the others crouched at the alley entrance discussing, the worker zombies headed straight toward them.
When Zhang Su saw this, his hair stood on end. He waved his hand and lowered his voice: "Run! The zombies are coming!"
The others instinctively followed Zhang Suâs gaze, seeing thirty or so worker zombies in work uniforms and helmets advancing rapidly with unrecognizable strides, full of pressure!
In a rush, the five of them dashed back to the alley.
Phoenix Internationalâs wall was much lower than the gas stationâs, only about two meters. People like Zhang Su and Lu Yubo could reach the edge on tiptoe, and the half-meter anti-climb spikes were merely decorative, unable to deter thieves.
Running about thirty meters into the alley, Zhang Su, amidst his pace, tossed his bag into the district regardless of the situation, took a running start, and effortlessly climbed the wall, looking inside to find, to his delight, far fewer zombies in the district compared to Sheng Qin International!
"Quick, get up here!"
The zombies were getting closer, driving everyone to unleash unprecedented potential, plus Zhang Su was already up helping the others. Soon, everyone but Tan Huajun was atop the wall.
With the worker zombies getting closer, Tan Huajun was now panic-stricken, but her plump body just wouldnât allow an easy climb.
"Old Tan, push with your feet, hurry!"
Zhang Su knew that relying solely on Tan Huajun was hopeless. He and Lu Yubo each grabbed one of Tan Huajunâs arms, Zheng Xinyu, holding onto the anti-climb spikes, bent down to grasp Tan Huajunâs collar.
Awoo.
The zombies charged with their foul stench, reaching out, but ultimately their attempts were futile. They failed to grab onto Tan Huajunâs pants, leaving only scratch marks on the wall.
With Zhang Su and the othersâ collective efforts, they finally managed to pull Tan Huajun onto the wall at the very last moment.
"Youâre impossible, Old Tan! You need to lose weight! What are you, over two hundred pounds?"
Zhang Su grumbled, irritated.
Tan Huajun, pale-faced, looked at the zombies below, gasping, "No, not that heavy, one hundredâabout one hundred sixty-seven, maybe I am wearing too much."
