"The leader is a young girl? Why? Shouldnât it be the old General Chu or the major general?" Mu Nan was confused about this.
Leadership wasnât easy, so, shouldnât the most capable be appointed leader?
"First of all, donât make the mistake of looking down on her because she is young. She is the strongest person in the team, followed by the major general.
She is also the Major Generalâs girlfriend and her family spoils her rotten. Even if she wasnât the strongest and wanted the leadership, they would definitely give it to her.
But from what I know, the leadership was forced upon her because of her abilities even though she doesnât like it. You canât blame her though, sheâs still a teenager who should be enjoying life but she is now given the duty of leading more than a hundred people to survive the apocalypse.
And there will be more in the future. Who wants that? So, she hides when she can and lets others take charge. I am a victim of that. But we do everything we can to make our team stronger." Yang Leo explained all these details to his student because he assumed that he would choose to stay in the team.
Thus, it was better if he knew what to expect.
"Are they that impressive?" Mu Nan was surprised by this. But since he had been out of touch with the outside world, he didnât know what to expect.
"Well, do you know anyone who can stop a rain of bullets barehanded?" Yang Leo suddenly asked.
"Of course not. Is there a human being who can do that?" He asked with bewilderment.
"Yes. That little girl can stop bullets with her bare hands. Thatâs how she saved the more than a hundred soldiers who joined the team recently from certain execution.
So, donât make the mistake of looking down on her just because she is young. And I heard that she is going into seclusion to cultivate her superpowers again. When she comes out, she will definitely have advanced again. So, she will be even stronger." Yang Leo felt that he had to warn his student so that he doesnât make a mistake like some of the people in their building.
"Thatâs indeed impressive. I wish I had a superpower too. I didnât awaken any ability." Mu Nan suddenly became sad.
"Donât worry about that. Just focus on recovery first. Itâs not like you canât awaken later.
Yesterday an ordinary soldier went out on a mission with Chu Miao and brother Ye and came back awakened. I was there too, so I saw everything.
Itâs just that, you practically have to brush shoulders with death for that to happen. But it happens." Yang Leo thought of talking about this to encourage his student so that he doesnât give up, not expecting that he had just created a battle maniac.
In the future, he will worry constantly because his student had made it his mission to fight zombies and mutated animals like crazy just to awaken.
And even after gaining an ability, he would not stop and kept going out to fight.
But this is a story for the future.
When Mother Chu finished treating Mu Nan and went back, she found everyone sitting in the living room talking while waiting for her to come back.
Even Ye Xuan had joined them. Today was the day they were going into seclusion and cultivate in that energy pool.
Chu Hao was excited because he could finally become stronger. He was aware of how incredible that spiritual energy pool was. Just dipping a hand there for a short while had almost made him advance, he couldnât wait to experience the whole thing.
"Everyone is here. Bunny, letâs go. I hope that when we come out the rain would have stopped." Grandfather Chu said while looking outside through the window although it was already covered by a curtain to prevent anyone from outside seeing what was happening inside.
"Alright, grandpa." Chu Miao replied before closing her eyes and the next second, everyone appeared in the living room inside the courtyard in the soul ring.
The others didnât have a reaction but this was Ye Xuanâs second time here. His first visit was brief, but he was still amazed when he came in again.
Like always, Chu Hao didnât forget to throw a jab at him.
"My Chu family ancestors were pretty impressive, right? Who else could create such a livable independent space for their descendants? You wouldnât experience this if not for our ancestors." While Chu Hao was busy bragging, a shoe came flying towards his head.
"Why donât I send you to meet those ancestors first. Are you trying to make Xiao Xuan uncomfortable?" It was Grandpa Chu who threw the shoe and said those words.
Just as Chu Hao dodged to the side, a thin vine came towards his shoulder and hit him.
"Ouch! That hurt. Mom, how could you hit your son? Am I your biological son?" Chu Hao jumped and cried in mock pain.
"Who told you that you were my biological son? I clearly picked you up in a dumpster near a mental hospital." Mother Chu fires back at her son.
The other people in the room, including Ye Xuan and Chu Miao, doubled over in laughter.
"Serves you right for being such a show off." Chu Miao rubbed salt to injury while Chu Hao kept quiet as he sulked.
In fact, itâs not that Chu Hao was mocking Ye Xuan, he was just trying to create a lively and casual atmosphere so that Ye Xuan doesnât feel pressured and can relax.
Everyone else in the room understood that, which was why they played along and soon the living room was filled with idle chatter about the facilities of the space and the history of the Chu family.
From this conversation, Ye Xuan got to understand the Chu family better and gained a new respect for their ancestors.
It was not easy for someone who knew they could live for thousands of years to cut short their lives in sacrifice so that their future descendants could survive.
