Chapter 1312: Magnificent
Now, both Thickness and Vastness each have set ranks for gods of the middle planes. This didnāt mean that gods were equal, no, far from that.
But a god has the collective wills of all their inhabitants. That alone was enough to boost their wills up the ranks, in both Thickness and Vastness.
For gods in the middle planes, the Dreadcore rank for Thickness and Veinbound rank for Vastness was the set standard.
A Dreadcore rank had enough Thickness to crush worlds and remain unshaken. A Veinbound Vastness had enough will to engulf a whole world.
However, it was when Whisker got to this stage that he explained that the ranking system had been made specifically for non gods.
Especially considering the fact that becoming a god automatically boosts you to the top of the ranking.
Regardless, measuring a godās power from there would depend on numerous things.
The most important were, firstly, of course, the god themselves. Boosts from the world could only go so far, real thickness came from the gods themselves and the quality of their wills.
The next was the godās reach and influence. How big was the world under them? The number of people under them? The number of their followers? The number of worlds under them?
All of these went hand in hand in influencing a godās power. And it was all of these that Atticus pondered as he meditated.
Eldoralth was undoubtedly big, but it still wasnāt as big as the worlds in the middle plane.
Some had reached such size that merging more worlds was impractical. So they chose to rule multiple worlds separately.
This was where the problem came in, there were beings whose reach extended past these multiple worlds. Atticus could only imagine how powerful their wills would be.
Regardless, gods had come up with a different rank to classify themselves. They were:
Baron. Viscount. Count/Countess. Marquis. Duke.
A Baron has a small world under them. For reference, Eldoralth was considered small.
Viscount had a mid sized world under them, while Count/Countess had the largest world under them.
A Marquis had multiple worlds under them, while a Duke controlled multiple Marquises. Their reach spanned across multiple worlds, controlling regions in the Verge.
These classifications were general for all middle planners, but usually, the different factions had titles for each of them.
While Atticus meditated and absorbed all of this information, the warriors of Kariot werenāt sure what to do. So, they decided to simply settle down and wait for their new god to finish whatever he was doing.
As all of this occurred, the space where the Great Verge and Dravek was remained utterly silent.
Dravek stared at the blank screen with disbelief, eyes slightly wide.
In the millennia heād been alive, he could count the number of times heād been shocked. And for one of them to be because of a child far less than a century old was unbelievable.
Still, Dravek didnāt seem to care. What he had just watched had been far too insane not to react. Far too absurd.
āHm. It was even more satisfying than I anticipated,ā the Great Verge suddenly spoke, and Dravek suddenly remembered that he was still in his boundless presence.
āSave the formalities. Refrain from letting me repeat myself, child.ā
Dravek, who was about to knee, froze and clenched his fists. That was a direct jab.
The Great Verge was known for his eccentric nature. Heād been known for making fun of people, the sort of thing a being of his magnitude shouldnāt be doing. Regardless, there was a hint of humor in the Great Vergeās tone.
āā¦yeah, Great Verge.ā
āYou were just completely outdone by an infant below two decades, the least I can do is offer you a reality check.ā The Great Vergeās amusement was audible in his tone.
āTell me, child, how does it feel to be slapped around by fate and then spanked by a child?ā
Dravekās jaw tightened, but he didnāt respond.
āOh, donāt sulk,ā the Verge continued. āItās not every day a millennium old relic like you gets outshone by someone who still hasnāt grown all their teeth.ā
Dravekās fists clenched harder, his pride stinging. āGreat Vergeāā
āI mean, truly,ā the Verge interrupted, amused. āYou strut around like a lion, but letās be honest, youāve become a house cat. A fat, lazy one that eats the scraps of children more deserving.ā
āGreat Verge,ā Dravek said, gritting his teeth, āIāā
āQuiet. Youāll speak when you grow a spine again.ā He said, shaking his head.
āItās not all bad, you know. Youāve got that charming ādisappointed uncleā vibe going. Very inspiring. If I were weaker, I might actually cry for you.ā
At this point, Dravekās face had flushed an intense red. All the insults burrowed deep into his bones. Still, he didnāt dare interrupt the Great Verge.
But it would seem as though he was finished.
āSoā¦ā the Great Verge said. āWhat do you have to say about this loss?ā He asked.
Dravek clenched his fists. āHis power was unexpected, and I was caught off guard. But it wonāt happen again. Iāll repay him for this in the Verge.ā
āSpoken like a true loser.ā
Dravek didnāt miss the amusement in the Great Vergeās voice. But before he could say anything, the Great Verge suddenly waved his hand, and he was gone.
The Great Verge stared at where the video footage had been, his six eyes glinting. It had been ages since he felt this excited for something.
He turned and vanished after a moment.
To the people of Eldoralth, new and old, it took ages for the ascension to be completed. The main reason being the fact that no one slept during the ascension, barely anyone blinked.
The world was crimson, the temperature warm. And even a fool could tell that there was something seriously going on, but the people were kept in the dark.
Regardless, through perseverance, through grit, and through determination, the world of Eldoralth finally reached its destination.
The people suddenly felt a shift in the air, followed by a heavy weight on their minds and bodies. Atticusās eyes snapped open at that moment, the crimson glow around him intense.
āWeāre here.ā
The warriors of Kariot were on their feet the moment he spoke, their shock evident. It seemed like a dream.
Since they were banished in the crucible, never in their wildest dreams would they have thought they would make it to the middle planes.
Atticus felt the presences of the Eldorians just outside the dome enveloping the continent. With a blip, he transported himself and the warriors towards them.
āSupreme ruler,ā Oberon began, but they soon discovered that Atticusās eyes werenāt on them. They were fixed towards the skies, beyond their world.
And as each of them turned to look, they were met with a sight that could only be described as magnificent.
Hey yāall. Iāll first like to apologize for the erratic uploads of July. Iām determined to make sure it doesnāt happen again. August should be free of that. Thank you all for your understanding and love. Btw, weāre dangerously below in the golden tickets ranking, letās keep the tickets flowing and rank high. Thank you!
Ps, the bonus chapter incentive for last months still holds. Rank 10 and above for extra chapters. I know Iām still owing a few, ill work on repaying them. Cheers!
