Atticus made his way through the hallways of the willhall, lost in his thoughts.
Heād just spoken to Masner about what had been troubling him, and he couldnāt help but admit, it was truly troublesome.
āThey took precautions.ā His mind had begun piecing together everything, using the info from Masner.
According to him, the reason he hadnāt felt Kaleās world despite killing and absorbing his will was because of the precautions most factions had put in place to prevent something like this from happening.
Pride was a difficult thing to control, and gods, especially newly emerging ones, had a lot of it. The factions had experienced far too many losses because of this.
There had been instances of gods blatantly challenging their peers and then losing their worlds in the process.
Each world lost was a loss to the faction. Therefore, the faction made it so that lower ranked gods didnāt have the authority to wager their worlds.
To do that, they needed to take permission from at least a Count. Even a Viscount couldnāt.
āI should have made it clear.ā
That was where Atticus had messed up. He couldnāt help but blame his lack of information. If he had made it clear from the outset that he wanted Kaleās world, then this probably wouldnāt have happened.
Instead, the wager had been solely focused on their lives.
āLesson learned.ā
Though he had taken it as an experience, Atticus still couldnāt help but feel a pang of regret.
The furry creature that presided over their match had called Kale a Baron. From the information heād gotten from the library, it meant he had at least five worlds under his belt.
āEldoralth is about one and a half.ā
Atticus had checked the dimensions for how the sizes of worlds were measured, and after comparing them with Eldoralthās measurements, he was able to determine that they were just above one Baron ranked world.
Which meant, for him to reach the Baron rank, he needed to absorb at least three and a half more Baron sized worlds.
Atticus soon had to clear his thoughts when it was time for his next class of the day. It was his only other class, in fact.
He had used the free time he had to think about all that was occurring. The Redflameās sudden hostility, the precautions of the major factions.
Now that heād shown himself capable to the other gods, he had no more power of surprise. They would see him coming, and higher ranked gods would seldom want to agree to their peers wagering their worlds.
Reaching and entering the class, Atticus was met with a more spacious room.
The chairs were arranged the same way, with rows ascending the further one was from the front. But each row had far more space from each other, and the platform in front was also more spacious.
Atticus wasnāt shocked to see the classroom more packed than the last class. The major reason being what the class was about.
āWillarts.ā
In the past, Eldoralthās bloodline and arts had been the peopleās lifeblood. With a powerful bloodline and art, one would be able to achieve the impossible.
Such was the same with the middle planes, except rather than bloodline, there was will path, and rather than normal arts, there were Willarts.
With powerful Willarts, one could defeat another with a stronger will. There were obviously a lot of technicalities to this, but it didnāt change the fact that it was possible.
Because of this, Willarts class was one that the gods, especially the new, seldom missed.
Atticus took in the eyes of most of the gods. They had turned towards him the instant he entered. This time around, there were no posters, nor had anyone set up any trap for him.
He felt a familiar intense stare on him and he turned, meeting eyes with a Redflame woman sitting at the front row seat. Compared to the other periods, there was a small smile on her face.
āShe didnāt use it this time.ā Atticus thought coldly.
Immediately after his fight with Kale, this same woman had used some art against him. Though with Omnicognition heād already seen that it was set to stop before it reached him, he had still gone ahead to copy and attack back.
To him, it had been a warning. He wasnāt one who took tricks. Attack him, regardless of reason, and heād attack back.
āSheās strong.ā That brief moment was all it took him to discover this. But it wasnāt only her. The Redflames seated on the second row also gave off more heat than Kale could ever dream of giving.
āEspecially him.ā
Atticusās eyes focused on a man directly behind the woman. His half closed eyes were also fixed on him, silent. Of all the Redflames, minus the woman on the front row, he gave off the most pressure.
Atticus made his way towards his seat without preamble. He chose the same sitting arrangement, far back, close to the window.
Though he wanted to avoid backing potential enemies, there was another reason he sat at the back today.
āI can see the whole class.ā
This was the Willart class. There was never an opportunity to observe and copy the arts of other factions than now.
Time passed, and to Atticusās satisfaction, no one approached or tried to talk to him.
A figure soon entered the classroom, a woman. She looked young, far too young considering who heād met so far, Masner and the other teacher.
The hall fell silent as she reached the podium. Though the gods disdained showing respect to another, the Willart class wasnāt one any could slack on.
As she swept her gaze across the hall, Atticus didnāt miss the brief pause when she got to him.
"My name is Laramie. You may only refer to me by such, without any suffix nor prefixes." She glanced around the room.
"I am in charge of the Willart class. We will begin now."
