Suddenly, Nariokās voice echoed in his ear.
āMy lord, some of the pilgrims have suddenly started attacking the others for no reason and are killing them.ā
āWhat? When did this happen?ā Daniel frowned.
Could it be that the group responsible for the fire on the first night had finally revealed themselves?
Either way, this was the perfect moment. Because of the demon attack, all order had broken down and everything was in complete chaos.
"I donāt know, but about ten of the pilgrims suddenly summoned their weapons and started killing the others. I think they, like us, arenāt native to the tower."
"Stop them until I get there." Daniel nodded, then left Azrak to watch over the demons and flew off toward the pilgrims.
The killings werenāt happening in just one area, so it wasnāt something he could resolve quickly.
He rose into the air and immediately activated his spiritual senses. From above, he could see everything.
The pilgrims were being slaughtered. Blades of all kinds were cutting into them, tearing their bodies apart.
He could even hear several explosions going off in different spots.
"Itās more than ten... there must be around seventeen of them." Daniel thought to himself.
About seven had already been captured by Nariok and Worak. That meant ten were still left.
"Seven have been caught, so thereās no need for the rest." He raised his hand, and the sky turned red.
[Crimson Judgment]
Blood-forged swords appeared in the sky. Without hesitation, he directed them toward the remaining ten.
Screams and cries of pain rang out immediatelyāthey clearly hadnāt expected to be attacked so suddenly.
But there was nothing they could do. Blood splashed everywhere, and the terrified cries of the pilgrims echoed.
Daniel ignored all of it and focused on the notifications popping up before him.
[You have successfully killed a C-rank player and gained 2700 EXP]
[You have successfully killed a C-rank player and gained 1990 EXP]
[You have...]
Ten similar notifications appeared, listing the players he killed and the EXP earned from each.
"So they really were players..." Daniel frowned for a moment, then the frown faded.
Without wasting time, he flew toward Nariok and Worak, who had tied up the remaining seven players.
"Tell meāare you players too?"
The seven exchanged confused glances.
"Youāre a player too, arenāt you? So why are you stopping us, dammit?"
"Yeah, seriously! Arenāt you supposed to help us? Why are you turning on your own?"
"What was your mission? Was it to kill the pilgrims?" Daniel asked calmly. Thankfully, it didnāt look like he needed to threaten or torture them to get answers.
"Kill the pilgrims? No, nothing like that. That wasnāt our mission." They laughed as if it were a joke.
"Then why did you attack the pilgrims?" Daniel frowned.
"Our mission was to assist and follow the orders of one of the real pilgrims. He was the one who ordered us to attack the others."
Danielās frown deepened. Why would a pilgrim want the others killed? Could it be that the person wasnāt really a pilgrim at all? Maybe one of the anti-Zirhamism infiltrators?
"Thatās very likely... but to be sure, I need to know who it is." He thought to himself, then looked back at the seven players.
"Who is that pilgrim?"
"That pilgrim? We thought you already knew. Heās the oneā"
But before the player could finish his sentence, his head suddenly exploded.
"What the hell just happened?!" the other players screamed. Daniel tried to intervene, but it was already too late.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions went off one after another. The heads of the remaining players exploded one by one until all of them were dead.
Blood splattered everywhere, even staining Danielās clothes, Nariok, and Worakās skin.
"Fuck! Who did this?! Which bastard set this up?" Daniel growled as he activated his spiritual senses to locate the attacker.
Unfortunately, no matter how hard he searched, it was useless. He couldnāt find anyone who looked like the culprit.
The remaining pilgrims were busy collecting the bodies of those who had been killed by the players.
Daniel angrily returned to the bodies of the dead players. He calmed himself down and sighed.
"It couldāve been that same person they mentioned... or maybe another player. Or maybe it was just some kind of mission failure mechanism." He muttered to himself.
Either way, it didnāt matter who it wasāthere was nothing he could do right now. Besides, he still had someone else to deal with.
"Clean this up. Iām going back to the demons." Then he stepped forward and used [Fallen Step] to appear back beside the demons.
First, he looked at them. Their bodies were regenerating, and even though they had been torn to pieces, they were still alive.
But that wasnāt important right now. What mattered to Daniel was their strengthāand all of them had power equal to B-rank Awakened.
Currently, he only had two B-rank Fallen: Nariok and Zargorth. Though Azrak and Velmord were both close to B-rank, they hadnāt fully reached it.
But once he turned these five into Fallen, heād gain five new B-rank Fallen and drastically increase the strength of his Fallen army.
With seven B-rank Fallen, clearing B-rank dungeons would be as easy as drinking water.
Even though he didnāt like dungeons much himself, clearing them brought in good money. He could just enter, let his Fallen do all the work, and make a lot of profit from it.
Without wasting time, he approached their bodies and dripped a drop of his blood onto each one.
[You have successfully created five new Fallen]
[You have acquired 10% of their stats]
Daniel suddenly felt a surge of new power flow through his body. It felt so good he was starting to think he might get addicted to it.
Becoming the strongest felt incredible.
[Please choose a name for them]
Daniel thought for a moment, then picked some random names for them.
[Confirmed]
[You can copy one of their skills or gain 10% of their EXP]
He closed the notifications and decided to make a decision about that later when he had more time. Especially since heād need to check their panels, and that could take a while.
Right now, he was in a critical situation and needed to protect the remaining pilgrims.
After that, he returned to them.
