They headed toward Augustâs room in the Awakened Association building. Without hesitation, they stepped inside, and the president walked straight to his desk.
He placed the palm of his hand in the middle of the desk and pushed down. To Danielâs surprise, the desk suddenly opened, and a spherical object rose from within.
The spherical shape was an exact replica of their planet. It looked identical, though much smallerâjust a bit bigger than the size of an adult human head.
"This is an item I got after clearing the sixth floor of the Tower. Itâs actually a tracker. Its range depends on the strength of the person using it. In fact, if youâre strong enough, you can even locate souls in the world of the dead," August said as he looked at the small orb.
"Why did you hide it here?" Daniel asked.
"This item has many uses. With it, you can locate treasures and extremely valuable items all across the worldâsorry, across both worlds. I hid it here so that no one could ever find it."
"Itâs pretty easy to use. You just need to place a piece of something related to whatever youâre searching for onto this needle. For example, if youâre looking for a treasure, you only need to place something thatâs been in contact with that treasure, and itâll show you its location."
"Thatâs... way too powerful," Daniel said, shaking his head.
"Thatâs not all. Once you reach the national-rank level as an Awakened, you can even manifest memories. You can project your memory of any treasure youâve seen and place it onto this orbâitâll show you where it is."
"Isnât that kind of terrifying? Having an item like this usable by national-rank Awakened or demi-gods... Iâm honestly a bit shocked you showed it to me," Daniel admitted, stunned. He could fully grasp the value of such an item.
Just imagine being able to find all S-rank, SS-rank, and even SSS-rank treasures with ease. Even he felt tempted to steal it for himself.
"Haha, donât worry. I was planning to give you this item sooner or later anyway. Doesnât matter whether you see it now or later," August chuckled and nodded.
"Give it to me? But why?" Daniel raised his eyebrows in curiosity.
"Iâm getting old, and I donât have much time left. Iâve given up on reaching higher ranks. Besides, I donât have a child to inherit anything. So wouldnât it be better to give this to someone who deserves it?"
"I donât even know what to say," a genuine smile formed on Danielâs face. He truly hadnât expected this.
For a brief moment, a warm feeling rose in his chest. Still, he was more excited than touched.
With this item, he could basically launch a glorious business and make money by the boatload. He could easily build a legendary fortune.
He could obtain the best treasures and gear himself up with them. More importantly, he could locate the remaining six Pagodas.
He could also confirm whether Evangelin had really been struck down or notâand above all, gather the wealth needed to rebuild the Church of Eternity.
After all, you canât build a religion without money.
"Thereâs no need to say anything. Iâm not giving it to you yetâI still need it... Anyway, come closer and place your hand on the orb," August said with a smile.
Daniel nodded, walked over, and placed his hand on the orb just like August instructed.
"Have you ever used this item to find specific treasures?" Daniel asked.
"Of course. Iâm one of the biggest treasure and item collectors in the countryâand maybe even the world. But I canât show off too much, or it could get dangerous," August replied.
Daniel nodded. If August showed off too much with his treasure collection, people would definitely get suspicious. That could be dangerous.
This item in front of him was so unique, Daniel had no doubt even demi-gods would come looking for it.
Suddenly, the orb began to glow and emitted a bright light.
"Take your hand off it," August instructed.
Daniel quickly lifted his hand.
And then he saw a red circular marker appear where his hand had just been. The marker started movingâfirst zooming into their country on the map, then heading toward the city of Sentkis. It finally stopped at a specific point within the city.
"Here...? Isnât that the church?" Daniel asked when he saw where the red marker on the orb had stopped.
But then he turned and saw Augustâs expression darkenâhis face had turned serious.
"Is something wrong?"
"That place has fallen into the hands of the Corruption Beasts. More specifically, itâs currently under absolute protection by them," the President of the Awakened Association said with a frown.
"....."
"Theyâre protecting it? Why would they do that? Thereâs only one reason I can think ofâit must mean the Boss is there, right?" Daniel was silent for a moment before speaking.
"Thatâs what we suspect, but weâre not sure. We tried measuring the energy levels thereâit barely reaches mid B-rank. We doubt the Boss would be that weak."
"Then it must hold some other importance to the Corruption Beasts," Daniel nodded, once again glancing at the orbâand then at the severed hand of his Fallen.
Thankfully, it seemed the body of his Fallen still existed and was inside that church.
"Looks like Iâll have to save the city sooner than I expected," a tired smile appeared on his face. But unfortunately, he had no other choice.
If his Fallenâs body was inside that churchâwhich, according to August, was being heavily protected by the Corruption Beastsâthen there was no other way but to fight his way through.
Well, at least he could get a few new Fallen out of it. From that angle, it wasnât so bad.
"If youâre planning to enter that church, youâd better learn a bit about those Corruption Beasts first. We donât know much either, but itâs better than nothing," August said, looking at him.
"Yeah, I guess so," Daniel nodded, and then placed the severed hand into his inventory.
After that, the old man hid the orb again, and they exited the room, heading back down to the underground.
"Itâs time for you to meet with the city officials."
Daniel sighed and nodded. Who wouldâve thought that just two months after awakening, heâd be meeting with the cityâs top authorities?
Though technically, this wasnât the first time. A few minutes ago, he had barged into their meeting like a tyrant anyway.
He followed August into the meeting room once more. It was time for the meeting between the authorities to resumeâwith him now fully involved.
