After that, they discussed the rest of the details of the weapon recovery plan. There were still a few important points about the Golden Tooth Bandits that Daniel needed to know.
Once the preparations were complete, the two of them said goodbye to Lana and boarded a carriage.
However, it wasnāt an ordinary carriage ā the horse pulling it had wings and could fly.
To Daniel, who had never seen anything like that before, it was quite fascinating.
"Never seen a flying carriage before?" Serys asked with a laugh as she noticed Danielās gaze.
"Not really. In my world, something like this doesnāt exist, and even in this world, I havenāt had the time," Daniel replied simply, not making a big deal out of it.
He looked out the carriage window. They were thousands of meters above the ground, flying through the sky.
Actually, the speed was impressive. He even considered getting one, but on second thought, dismissed the idea. While it could be helpful, it would just be an unnecessary expense.
He could easily use teleportation portals, and once he reached S-rank, he could just break through the void and teleport anywhere.
"I really wish I could see your world... too bad thereās no way to get there," Serys sighed.
"Thereās nothing special about it."
"Maybe not for you, but for the people of my world, seeing and experiencing a new world would definitely be exciting."
"Thatās a good point," Daniel nodded. Just like the Celestial Domain fascinated people from his world, their world could be fascinating for people here.
They spent the rest of the time chatting about random, unimportant topics. Most of the conversation was driven by Serys, asking questions about Danielās life and his world.
At first, Daniel didnāt really care. To keep things from getting too dull, he shared a few of his adventures in the Celestial Domain.
Of course, he heavily censored things. He avoided mentioning anything dangerous or sensitive.
But the more time passed, the more personal Serysās questions became. That surprised and slightly unsettled him.
Clearly, she was trying to get to know Daniel in every possible way. And Daniel noticed.
But why? Why did she seem so intent on learning everything about his personality, background, and talents? He wasnāt stupid enough to think she had a crush on him.
Rather, his cautious nature made him wonder if she had an ulterior motive.
"Alright, now itās your turn to tell me about the Central Magic Tower," Daniel said, changing the topic.
"The Central Magic Tower? Thereās nothing really special. Itās a boring and annoying place... but if you love magic, youāll love it there," Serys said lazily after a brief pause.
"Boring? Iāve been to a magic tower once, and thinking about it now... yeah, it was boring for someone like me."
"Oh, youāve been to one? Still, the Central Magic Tower is different from ordinary towers. It covers a massive island, and that island is only for mages. Some even call it the Mageās Paradise."
"I see. If itās that good, why do you find it boring?" Daniel asked with a smile.
"Well... it comes down to interests. I like excitement. But in the Central Magic Tower, thereās none of that. Mages spend their whole lives on theory, research, expanding magic, and uncovering the secrets of the world. We donāt get involved in things unless someone messes with us first," Serys explained after a short pause.
"Me being sent on this kind of mission is a once-in-a-century kind of thing. It might be another hundred years before the Tower intervenes in worldly matters againāat least, thatās what my master said."
"I see. With all that, yeah, I probably couldnāt stand it either," Daniel nodded.
He also loved excitement. A quiet life just wasnāt for him. Sure, he liked the idea of peace, but if he had to live without adrenaline for too long, heād probably go crazy.
"Although... in the past month or two, the Tower hasnāt been all that peaceful," Serys said suddenly.
"Oh? Because of the weapon?"
"No... the weapon is serious, but not enough to shake the whole Tower. That only concerns the higher-ups. What really caused a stir happened about two months ago."
"I donāt know the full details, but... you probably donāt know this, but to become a member of the Magic Tower, you have to understand the inscriptions on a special tablet. Thereās something called a comprehension percentageāthe more you understand, the better the Tower treats you," Serys explained.
Daniel frowned and felt a sense of déjà vu. He could already predict what she was about to say.
"Apparently, someone managed to fully comprehend the tabletāand that shocked the entire Central Magic Tower."
"Is that really such a big deal?" Daniel asked, playing dumb.
"Of course! Fully understanding the tablet means having a talent straight out of legend. That kind of person has the potential to reach the peak of magic," Serys said, her face lighting up.
Reaching the peak of magicāthat was every mageās dream. Unfortunately, throughout history, only a handful had ever shown that level of talent.
Even she had that same ambition. That was actually why she wanted help from this boyāif she couldnāt reach her goal through the Magic Tower, sheād never achieve her true dream.
"So, did you find out who did it? Did you locate them?"
"Unfortunately, no. My master assigned a lot of people to look for them. Some were even sent to the Magic Tower in the Elthanor Empireāthatās where the genius appeared. But because of the current situation in the empire, they couldnāt find them," Serys sighed.
"What happened in the empire?" Daniel asked with a frown. He hadnāt heard anything from there in a while.
"Oh? You donāt know? Actuallyā" Before she could finish her sentence, the entire carriage suddenly shook as a powerful force slammed into them, smashing the flying carriage down toward the ground.
