Daniel really had to admit that what this guy Lioran had done was truly worthy of admiration.
Even though Serys hadnât fully explained everythingâand maybe she herself hadnât realized what was really going onâDaniel could see the true goal behind all of Lioranâs actions.
Lioran hadnât just managed to kill everyone who had mocked him in a mysterious way no one could understand, but he had also turned Serysâthe only other candidate for inheritanceâinto a publicly hated figure.
As the apprentice of the Tower Master of the Central Magic Tower, Serys was naturally one of the main successors, right alongside the Tower Masterâs daughter.
And Lioran? That guy had been nothing but trash before his talents awakened. But once he suddenly gained his legendary talent, everything changed.
He even managed to gain the support of the Grand Elders of the tower... But so what? No matter how talented he had become, time wasnât on his side.
He had only been at the tower for two years. Despite his talent, he hadnât achieved anything significant yet and wasnât as popular or well-known as Serys or the Tower Masterâs daughter.
So what did he do? He killed the Tower Masterâs daughter and turned Serys into a public villainâDaniel had no doubt that Lioran had intentionally let Serys witness one of the murders.
By doing all that, he didnât just create an invisible atmosphere of fear inside the tower, but also boosted his own reputation while discrediting Serys.
That kind of plan could only come from a genius. Daniel had to admit itâLioran truly deserved some praise. Honestly, if someone like that became the next Tower Master, it might even be better than Serys leading.
"Maybe I should pay a visit to the Magic Tower," Daniel said with a smile, glancing at Serys. He lifted his hands and wiped her tears away.
"What do you mean? Why would you come?" Serys asked with suspicion, her cheeks reddening from the gesture.
"Well, this Lioran guy just tried to have me killed. I canât exactly let that slide, right?"
"Youâre really coming? But going to the Central Magic Tower isnât easy." A spark of happiness flashed in Serysâs eyes.
In fact, that was exactly why she had wanted Danielâs helpânot to fight or beat up Lioran, but because there was still one way to stop him from becoming the heir. But she couldnât do it alone. With Danielâs help, she might be able to pull it off.
"Of course, but for now we have more important things to do." Daniel nodded. He didnât really care about the assassination attempt.
After all, Lioran didnât even know someone like him existed, and his presence here had been completely random.
The real reason he wanted to visit the Magic Tower was his curiosity about Lioranâand a bit of ambition.
The stronger he got, the more enemies heâd gain. Having powerful allies wouldnât hurt. If he could help Serys become the Towerâs heir and support his friend from the Lionheart family to take control of that house, heâd gain some serious backing.
"As for you guys..." He turned his eyes to the Wanderers.
"We told you everything you wanted! Pleaseâ" Before they could even finish, the Death Beam embedded in their bodies suddenly activated and consumed their souls on the spot.
"Itâs time to move," Daniel said, lifting off and flying into the sky. He hovered high above and looked into the distance.
Serys followed him and floated beside him in the air.
"How far do you think we are from Crystalgard?"
"Shouldnât be too far. If we fly, weâll probably get there in a few more hours," she answered.
Daniel nodded, and Serys led the way. Minutes turned to hours as they flew silently through the sky.
Night was falling and the sun had already set, but they had covered a lot of ground and were almost there.
To stay hidden, they were flying above the clouds with their auras completely concealed and muted.
"So many flying carriages," Daniel remarked as they neared the city. They could see numerous carriages descending toward Crystalgard from all directions.
"A lot of rich people are coming here. Itâs not just because of the black market auction. The Ten Thousand Treasures Auction is happening soon too, and itâs going to be held nearby."
Daniel nodded, and suddenly a black energy wrapped around his face, forming a mask that only showed his eyes.
Serys tried to peer through the mask, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldnât see through it. That mask didnât just hide his faceâit altered his entire aura. Daniel now radiated the essence of death.
She also pulled a mask from her inventory and put it on. In an instant, her entire appearance transformed into a completely different beautiful woman.
Her face was strikingly beautiful and gracefulâeven though Serys herself was incredibly attractive, she lacked the dignity and nobility this one had.
Her skin was so smooth and fair that it gleamed like flawless porcelain. Her high cheekbones and slender nose were shaped with such precision that they looked sculpted by an artistâs hand.
Her long, wavy hair was a light golden blonde, like strands of gold carefully draped over her shoulders. Always well-groomed and elegantly dressed, even her simplest outfits carried traces of luxuryâas if wealth was a part of her being, not something she needed to show off. Her smile, slightly exaggerated and proud, made it clear she took pride in her money and status.
She looked exactly like a wealthy lady who was in love with spending extravagantly.
"Oh, a face-changing mask? Not bad. Even your aura completely changed," Daniel said with admiration.
While the mask he made with death energy could conceal his aura pretty well, her mask worked on another level. His mask only suppressed his real auraâan expert might still sense it. But Serysâs mask completely changed her aura to that of a different person. Even her clothes had changed to an aristocratic outfit.
"Thanks. Itâs a gift from my master," she replied with a charming smile.
"So, whoâs the woman you turned into? I doubt someone with that kind of noble aura and beauty is just a random person."
"Oh? Sheâs the owner of the carriage weâre going to steal."
"...?"
