Daniel and Rynor quietly landed in front of the entrance of the Violet Lake City, and after paying the fee, they went inside. He looked around.
It looked exactly like an ordinary city. It wasnât that luxurious and high-class, nor poor and shabby. A truly average city with people who, well, at least didnât seem unhappy.
His attention then went to the pretty bird sitting on his shoulder. Fortunately, it seemed dragons had far more abilities than one could imagine.
Fino had managed to alter its body to some extent and turn into a beautiful bird. Of course, it still didnât look completely ordinary and was definitely one of the most beautiful bird species in the whole world.
Still, at least this was better than being a baby dragon that could attract the attention of the entire world and bring him endless trouble.
âOf course, I shouldnât forget that even though itâs still a baby, its power matches rank A. So body alteration shouldnât really be that difficult for it.â
After that, he contacted Andreas again and told him that he had arrived in this city. Andreas replied that he should stay where he was, they were coming right away.
Fortunately, he wasnât lying, and it only took a few minutes until Andreas, Ilaris, and a middle-aged man arrived.
"Thank god youâre alive," Andreas sighed and gave Daniel a brotherly hug.
Ilaris hugged him after that as well, and then Danielâs attention shifted to the middle-aged man.
"You must be Mr. Daniel, right? The young master speaks a lot about you. Itâs a pleasure to meet you." The middle-aged man reached out his hand to greet him.
"Nice to meet you too." Daniel also reached out and shook his hand.
The man then glanced at the one standing behind him. There wasnât really anything strange about him, only his rank left a slight impression. That was all. After that, he stepped back a few paces to give them space to talk.
"What happened after we left?"
"A dragon appeared and killed all the Heavenly Kings, and it took that dragon egg with it," Daniel sighed, not forgetting to show a trace of fear on his face so his words would sound more believable.
"A real dragon appeared? My god!" Andreas exclaimed in awe, now almost regretting why he hadnât stayed with his friend.
"Are dragons really as terrifying as they say?" Ilaris asked with a mix of curiosity and shock.
"Even more terrifying than what they say."
The two swallowed hard.
"Sorry for interrupting your conversation, but... did that dragon kill all the Heavenly Kings? Even the Heavenly King from our family?" the middle-aged man suddenly asked with a frown.
Hearing his words, Andreas suddenly realized he had completely forgotten about his grandfather! That man was one of the few ancestors who supported him.
"Well, their spiritual bodies were destroyed, but I donât know what exactly happened to their real bodies," Daniel paused for a moment and then answered.
"We need to return to the Lionheart family as soon as possible."
Andreas nodded and then looked at Daniel, waiting for an answer if he would come as well.
"If itâs not a problem, Iâll come with you." Daniel also nodded and replied.
"Perfect! Then letâs get moving as soon as possible." Andreas smiled and said, and then all of them headed toward the area outside the city where many flying ships were stationed.
Without delay, they boarded a flying ship belonging to the Lionheart family and set off toward their destination.
Time passed slowly, and the sun gave way to the moon. After eating dinner, Daniel stood at the helm of the ship, gazing into the distance.
"Is this your first time riding a flying ship?" Andreas approached him from behind.
"Yeah."
"How is it?"
"Itâs an interesting experience." Daniel nodded. This thing was even better than flying carriages â it had more space and even greater speed.
"At this pace, we should arrive by morning. Iâm kind of excited to have you come to the place where I live," Andreas chuckled.
"I want to see what the estate of one of the top families on the continent looks like."
"If you mean the palaces and all that, theyâre very beautiful. But thereâs no such thing as family love. All of my brothers and sisters are fighting for succession, and my parents are neutral and indifferent." He sighed.
"Youâre also after succession." Daniel glanced at him.
"Thatâs right. Only because itâs the only path in front of me. If I lose, Iâll be forced to serve under my siblings, and I donât want that. Besides, maybe this way Iâll finally be acknowledged by my father." Andreas paused for a moment before answering.
"If your goal really is to become the heir of your family, Iâll help you. You donât need to worry." Daniel said calmly, indifferently.
"With your help, Iâm not worried. I doubt any of my siblings could beat you. But well, the succession process isnât that simple. Itâs not like I just go and defeat them and then become the heir. I have to prove my worth, and for that, I need achievements." Andreas gave a bitter smile.
Luckily, getting help from outsiders wasnât a problem. Of course, outsiders couldnât interfere with the familyâs politics.
But for them to become part of his team and help him â that was allowed. In fact, if he managed to recruit a monster like Daniel into his team, that would itself count as an achievement.
"You donât need to worry about your siblings. Even if we donât do anything, I have no doubt theyâll be removed sooner or later. The only one you really need to worry about is Lioran." Daniel replied with a faint smile.
"You said this before, but what exactly do you mean? And no, I donât want to figure it out myself. Please explain." Andreas looked at him with some confusion and asked.
"Youâll find out soon" Daniel said mockingly.
