Daniel stood in the sky above his home, quietly staring at the young woman in front of him. He had no idea why this girl had come here in the middle of the night.
And more importantly, how did she even find their address? Although, on second thought, it wasnât like their home address was hidden.
But the real question wasâhow did she find out his identity? Every time he had met this woman, he had always worn a mask.
So what was going on? How did this woman know who he was? Could his identity have been exposed at some point? But when? How?
No matter how he thought about it, he couldnât find an answer, and that made him feel uneasy. The only thing he could do was stay calm and, if necessary, kill this woman.
"Relax. I didnât come here as an enemy," Diana said softly, smiling at him.
She had been searching for the people her master wanted for yearsâand now, she could finally feel that she had truly found one of them.
There was no doubt about it. This man had to be one of those people. He had to be part of the family her master was looking for.
"You came to my house in the middle of the night without an invitation, so donât expect me to think youâre a friend," Daniel replied calmly, his tone indifferent.
Diana gave an awkward smile. She knew very well that she had come at a terrible time, but it couldnât be helped. It was her senior sisterâs order to confirm this manâs identity as soon as possible.
As for how she found out that this man in front of her was The Fallen... well, that wasnât exactly easy.
Actually, it was impossible without help.
It was all thanks to her senior sister. When she woke up in the hospital, she immediately called her and reported everything that had happened.
Her senior sister told her that she would find out the manâs identity and then hung up. Diana assumed it would take a few days at least.
But surprisingly, only a few hours later, her senior sister called again and said that The Fallen was most likely Daniel Noirâone of the members of the Everlight Moon Guild.
Her senior sister also ordered her to come here tonight to confirm his identity, otherwise she would have preferred to rest.
"Are you the son of Lord Henry?" Diana asked the question her senior sister had told her to ask.
She wanted to just say Henry, but her senior sister had warned her multiple times to use the title Lordâotherwise their master would beat her up later.
As soon as her words echoed, the atmosphere suddenly shifted. The air froze, the temperature dropped sharply, and a coldness wrapped around her entire body. She felt a powerful sense of danger, as if she could die at any moment.
Before she could react, she realized that the entire space around her was sealed off.
Danielâs indifferent gaze turned cold. He stretched out his hand, and a sword appeared in it.
Just looking at that sword made her feel like death itself was standing before her. The scent of death filled the air, and she truly thought she might die here.
"Who are you?" Daniel asked in a chilling voice, his eyes glowing with killing intent.
It was clear that if Diana didnât give a proper answer right now, she would be killed on the spot. In fact, if she hadnât used the word Lord when saying his fatherâs name, she probably would already be dead.
Thatâs rightâHenry was his fatherâs name. But it had been a long time since Daniel had heard it. What was strange was that no one besides his mother and sister should have known that name.
Even in his identification records, where a fatherâs name was required, they used a fake name instead. Before he learned the truth, his mother always told him that his father had two namesâthe official one used in documents, and Henry, the name people called him by.
But once he learned the truth from his mother, he found out that the name on the records was fake, and Henry was actually his fatherâs real name.
Still, no one besides him and his mother should know that. Especially not a woman he had never met before yesterday.
What was more concerning was that his fatherâs identity was a sensitive one. What if this woman had been sent by his fatherâs enemies to confirm his identity?
It sounded ridiculous, but it was still a possibility.
"Wait! Calm down! Iâm not your enemy! I was actually sent by one of your fatherâs friends!" Diana said quickly, raising both hands in surrender.
She was genuinely terrified. And even she found that ridiculous. She, one of the top geniuses of the Central Continent, was afraid of a genius from a third-rate country?
She didnât know whether to laugh or cry. If her old rivals ever found out about this, she would become a joke. Just thinking about it made her angry.
But she didnât dare to show even the slightest bit of that anger.
"My fatherâs friend?" Daniel frowned. He didnât believe that right away. He didnât know any of his fatherâs associates, and he couldnât confirm if this was true.
"Do you have any proof?"
Diana nodded and stretched out her hand. A white paper appeared in it.
The paper floated toward him. He took it and looked at itâit was covered in writing. Just a simple sheet of paper.
He began reading it, and with every line, his expression changedâfrom cold, to frowning, to sighing.
Seeing the killing intent fade away and the tense atmosphere return to normal, Diana let out a breath of relief. Thankfully, it seemed her masterâs letter had worked.
Otherwise, she might have ended up in serious danger. Though even if she had been attacked, she was confident that she could survive, even if she couldnât win.
"My apologies for my behavior," Daniel said, the letter burning to ash in his hand. He looked at her calmly.
"Itâs fine. I donât know all the details, but Iâve heard some things," Diana said with a nod. Her senior sister had already warned her about some of this.
"Where can I meet your master?"
"Youâll have to come with me to the Central Continent."
"The Central Continent? Not now," Daniel shook his head. He had too many things to deal with, and besides, he didnât plan to go there until he was strong enough.
Even though this womanâs master was supposedly one of his fatherâs alliesâor even a subordinateâit was still dangerous to go there.
The Central Continent was where all of his fatherâs enemies lived. It was home to the most powerful beings in the worldâa place full of danger, but also of opportunity.
If he went there now with his current strength, it probably wouldnât be an issue. But if his fatherâs enemies realized that he, his mother, and his sister were alive and had returned after all these years, it could turn into a disaster.
Most likely, those enemies already knew about themâbut since they were too weak to matter, they simply ignored them.
That wouldnât be the case once he returned to the Central Continent.
Still, he really did need to talk to this womanâs master. Only then could he get answers to many of his questions.
"Well... thereâs another way," Diana suddenly said.
