"Looks like you had a good time." Orsius laughed and said with a rough tone.
He stood behind the bars of the cell. His eyes locked onto Daniel as if no one else in the room existed. Without saying anything, he took one step forward and let his shadow fall through the bars over all three of them.
He paused for a moment, as if examining something.
And thenâ
He released his aura. The air inside the prison suddenly became heavy. The walls shook under the pressure. Kayn and Melia collapsed like dry leaves and couldnât even breathe.
Daniel only blinked. He didnât resist... he didnât react. Right now, this Demon thought he had lost his power, and if Daniel so much as resisted a little, Orsius would realize it wasnât true.
Daniel still needed to act weak for his plans, and he wasnât going to ruin all their effort just to protect a bit of pride.
"Before you die... you need to answer a few questions." Orsius said with a voice like a volcano rumbling.
Then he suddenly increased his aura ten times over. The floor under Danielâs feet cracked. The metal bars of the cell screamed. Kayn panicked, and Melia was crying from fear.
"How did you use demonic energy, human?" Orsius asked.
Daniel gritted his teeth. His eyes turned cold. He didnât answer.
Orsius laughed loudly. He raised his hand, and the cell door flew open with a loud crash.
He stepped inside. He punched Daniel in the chest, slamming him into the wall. Then he grabbed his neck and lifted him up like he weighed nothing.
"You pathetic human. Donât waste my time. Answer me... or youâll experience hell right here."
"Whoever told you I can use demonic energy... lied." Daniel said with a rough, strained voice mixed with a bit of fear.
He wasnât lying either. He really couldnât use demonic energy, and the skill he used only contained demonic energy.
If he wanted to use real demonic energy, he would need far more than a single skill. He would need a source inside his body that could convert mana into demonic energy.
And when he thought about it now, it wasnât a bad idea to get a demonic source. After all, demonic energy had a lot of power and abilities.
Orsiusâs eyebrows lowered. Even he couldnât believe a human could do something like that. Demonic energy wasnât something low creatures like humans could use.
To use demonic energy, you needed a Demon Heart, something that could convert the energy of the heavens and earth, or mana, into demonic energy. Only Demons possessed it.
So how could a human use demonic energy? It wasnât like you could kill a Demon, take its Demon Heart, and simply use it.
But... he had seen the memories of the Demons who fought Daniel. They confirmed it. Daniel could use demonic energy.
It didnât matter how. He needed to find the method and destroy it. No being except Demons should be able to use demonic energy.
He had personally been ordered by the prince to find out , no matter what , how a human had managed to use demonic energy.
At first glance, it might not seem like a big deal, but demonic energy is extremely valuable and unique to the demon race, and they cannot allow any other race to gain access to it.
If, by any means, the other races , especially humans , discovered how to use demonic energy, the demons could even face extinction.
Their enemies would easily learn their weaknesses and might even discover a way to break their semi-immortality.
And that was something they could never allow to happen.
His aura grew heavier again. His fingers tightened around Danielâs neck.
"Lying wonât help you. We have many ways to make humans like you talk."
"I really donât know! I canât use demonic energy!" Daniel said with a trembling but annoyed voice.
Orsius ignored him like an emotionless monster. He grabbed Daniel by his collar, dragged him across the floor, and pulled him out of the cell.
"Enjoy the last moments of your life." He said, looking at Kayn and Melia with a hateful smile.
He shut the cell door.
"Iâm taking you to the torture room. Youâll open your mouth there, even if I have to break your bones one by one." he said to Daniel.
They walked down the hallway. The further they went, the darker the walls became. The smell of hot metal and dried blood grew stronger.
Daniel looked around with a cold expression. The deeper they went, the fewer guards there were.
Now there was no one... only darkness and silence.
Orsius glanced at him.
"Are you scared?"
He let out a low laugh.
"This is my favorite area. No one dares to come close. Down here... itâs only me."
To avoid any interference during his torture sessions, this place was kept completely free of demon soldiers or any other disturbances.
There was another reason as well: when torturing someone, he liked to toy with his targets and inflict the worst kinds of pain, which created a lot of noise, noise so unbearable that even other demons couldnât stand hearing it.
They reached a huge iron door. Orsius opened it using his aura.
The room smelled like burning, wounds, pain, and death. Torture tools hung from chains... blades, hooks, spikes, a stone table... and dried blood stains showing that hundreds of people had died here.
Orsius threw Daniel onto the ground.
"Well... itâs time to start the torture."
He stepped forward. His aura twisted like a vortex of darkness.
But to his surprise, Daniel gave him a cold, mocking smile, like he was looking at a brainless idiot.
"I didnât think you were this stupid... to make my job easier." Daniel said.
A moment of silence filled the room.
Orsiusâs eyes narrowed. And right then he realized his aura was completely suppressed.
He couldnât release energy at all. As if someone, something, had locked all his power inside the room.
Orsiusâs breath stopped for a moment..
