Before Lana could continue speaking, a knocking sound was heard. She stopped and gave permission to enter. The door opened, and a servant walked in holding a tray.
He calmly placed one cup of tea in front of Daniel and the other in front of Lana, then bowed respectfully and left the room. Daniel picked up the cup and glanced at its contents.
"You were saying, go on," he said, then fixed his gaze on the girl sitting across from him.
"Without me knowing, my sister secretly went to the eastern borders and joined our other forces there to fight the terrorists."
"I feel like that little girl has become a bit unpredictable over the past few months," Daniel chuckled softly, while remembering his first meeting with Lanaās sister.
It had been in front of the Awakened Association building in the city of Santcis. At that time, that girl had helped him a lot, and later, to repay the debt, he had given her a drop of his blood.
"Sheās always been like that. At least after our motherās death, she was never predictable. Like when she suddenly came to Santcis without telling anyone. Well, at least that wasnāt too bad, since it allowed our guild to recruit you," Lana smiled as she thought about her sister and explained.
"I guess youāre right. I havenāt spent much time with her to really know what kind of person she is. Anyway, whatās the problem with her? Let her play around a bit there and gain some experience."
"Thatās the problem. She was captured by the terrorists. Not just her, but an entire elite battalion of our guild has been completely captured," Lana replied with anger and killing intent.
"Thatās impossible. That girl should have a lot of trump cards and escape treasures," Daniel frowned deeply.
"Unfortunately, it seems the terrorists were fully prepared for those treasures."
"Why are you still here? Shouldnāt you be going to save your sister right now?" he said calmly, but deep in his tone, anger was clearly present.
"Do you think I didnāt want to go? The moment the terrorists sent their letter, I wanted to go there immediately! But unfortunately, I canāt do anything. The guild is in a very bad state, and with my father gone, Iām the only one who can lead this place."
"All of our elites have been sent to the eastern borders. None of our experts are here. The guild is basically just an empty shell right now," Lana said with sadness and anger.
The situation of the guild had become so strangely severe that it felt as if some hidden force was behind all of this. How could their guild suddenly fall into such a terrible state?
"On top of that, the terrorists made demands in exchange for her and the rest of the battalion. They gave me a specific deadline to bring them what they want, or theyāll kill all of them," she added at the end.
"What did they ask for?" Daniel asked.
"The same weapon you saved. The guildās ultimate weapon."
"I thought that was a secret project, but it seems a lot of people know about it."
Lana sighed, unsure of what to think anymore. After that incident, they had carried out a purge inside the guild and captured several spies.
But it clearly hadnāt been enough. Especially after realizing that the terrorists had been prepared for her sisterās hidden and defensive treasuresāit meant they knew everything about her sister in advance, and likely even knew that she was going to the eastern borders.
"I wanted to go myself, but now that youāre here... can you help me?" Lana then turned her attention back to Daniel and pleaded with the most respectful tone she could manage.
Daniel sighed and took a sip of his tea. He felt like he had done far too many heroic things lately.
Still, could he really refuse?
"No problem."
"Thank you so much! I promise Iāll make it up to you! You can even use the guildās best treasures and items to make sure nothing goes wrong!" A few tears of joy fell from Lanaās eyes as she thanked him happily.
"Thereās no need. Iāll depart for there in two days. Also, donāt worry. Not only will I save your sister, Iāll make sure to completely wipe out the terrorists. I think itās time I personally fix the guildās situation," Daniel nodded.
He had also realized that the guildās situation likely had external culprits. Until now, he hadnāt interfered because he thought the guild leader and Lana could handle it.
But clearly, intervention was necessary. Everything had to be fixed with absolute force. Besides, he owed this guild far too much, and now it was time to repay them properly.
"Are you sure? It wonāt be easy," Lana asked worriedly. Even though they were just a terrorist group, they possessed considerable power.
Enough to seize large portions of the land they wanted.
"Donāt worry," Daniel finished his tea and placed the cup on the table.
No matter how powerful a terrorist group might be, they had no chance against him. He wasnāt being arrogant or self-satisfiedāthis was simply the truth.
His current level of power was far beyond rank S, to the point that even he himself didnāt know how strong he really was.
Perhaps he had already become unbeatable below the Heavenly Kings, and even using those two skills, he was confident he could defeat them.
Then he stood up.
"If thereās nothing else, itās time for me to go."
"Of course. And once again, thank you. Ah... I donāt know how Iāll ever repay all of this in the future," Lana stood up as well to see him off.
"As I said, thereās no need. All of this is because of that time you stood behind me and protected me. I think now itās my turn to do the same," Daniel laughed, then said goodbye and left.
He also told her that he was busy tomorrow, but he would definitely inform her before heading to the eastern borders.
After he left, Lana sighed, and a smile appeared on her face.
"Who would have thought weād reach a point this soon, where the boy who once needed our help to protect himself... is now the one we need to protect us?" she said, feeling a hint of irony.
But from the bottom of her heart, she was truly glad to have Daniel on their side.
