Ning Ge was wholeheartedly against being forced into an arranged marriage. What age are we living in? When it comes to dating, of course you should find someone yourself. However, seeing how everyone around him is paired up, and he himself wasnât getting any younger, he felt a pang of guilt when faced with the hopeful gaze of his father.
So, he went along with his familyâs wishes and came to this western restaurant.
Oh dear, just because they came back from abroad, do they think theyâre so grand? Meeting in a western restaurant.
"Fourth, over here."
By the window, his third sister waved Ning Ge over. Ning Ge walked over and sitting opposite his sister was a woman with long hair falling over her shoulders, looking dignified and ladylike from behind.
"Third Sister." Ning Ge greeted as he approached, then glanced at the woman seated there.
"Itâs you?"
"Why is it you!"
When their eyes met, both were a bit surprised.
"Whoa, you two know each other? Great! Saves me the effort of making introductions!" Ning Zhen said cheerfully, holding her son.
"Of course I know her, Doctor Song!" Ning Ge gritted his teeth looking at the woman.
Indeed, the one he was set up with today was the female doctor who had taken his cigarettes when he was recuperating at the Army General Hospital. It was Song Jiaying.
Song Jiaying, a remarkably outstanding surgeon at Army General Hospital. Apparently, sheâs even got some doctorate or something. As for her age, sheâs probably similar to Ning Ge.
During his recovery, Ning Ge had clashed with her a few times. This woman, sheâs an ice-cold beauty, unaffected by anything, always cold and distant, and never smiling with anyone. Really makes you wonder how someone like her could become a doctor, wouldnât she terrify the kids?
But wait, sheâs a surgeon. Naturally, she deals mostly with the likes of damaged limbs and such, so definitely no pushover.
Song Jiaying furrowed her delicate brows and looked at Ning Zhen, asking, "Didnât you say your brother was in business? Wounds like that arenât from business dealings."
"Right! Seems like heâs into... jam making or something? Partnering with others, isnât that right, Fourth?" Ning Zhen glanced at her younger brother and then exclaimed as she grabbed her sonâs hand, "Oh my darling, you mustnât eat that jam!"
The little guy, having been stopped by his mother, pouted and began to cry, his voice echoing loudly.
Suddenly, all eyes turned their way. The restaurant prides itself on its tranquility, even the waitstaff approached them.
Ning Zhen blushed with embarrassment and said, "The little guyâs throwing a tantrum. Since you two know each other, I wonât stick around. You guys chat by yourselves. Iâll take him out now!" As she spoke, she was already standing with her son in her arms, grabbing her bag to make a hasty exit from the restaurant.
Once his third sister left, Ning Ge also stood to leave.
"Where are you going?" Song Jiaying frowned at him.
"Leaving, of course. My sisterâs gone, no point in staying here!" Ning Ge laughed seeing her furrow her brow deeply, "Doctor Song, you wouldnât actually want to go on this blind date, right? I can see youâre less than thrilled; letâs just call it off. Besides, youâre not my type anyway. So, goodbye!"
He had absolutely no interest in clinging to such an icy demeanor. He might freeze to death!
Women should be fiery and passionate to be interesting.
"Sit down!" Song Jiaying spoke coldly, "Itâs already mealtime. Leaving your date and walking out, are you trying to put me, Song Jiaying, in a difficult spot?"
Ning Ge was taken aback.
"Iâm not interested in you either, but sit down," Song Jiaying said, "At least have a meal before leaving!"
As she spoke, she unintentionally glanced at a spot not far to his left rear side, where someone was hiding behind a newspaper, with only a pair of eyes visible, watching them. She was somewhat resigned.
Ning Ge followed her gaze and looked over, slightly squinting his eyes, but then he sat back down, raising an eyebrow, "Doctor Song, you owe me one!"
