The Ugly Night Flower raised its head, walking with confident strides, but the next moment, it suddenly turned around and glared, disappearing into invisibility.
Is it glaring at me? What did I do to it? Qiao Sang looked confused.
Zhang Taedong rubbed his forehead and said:
"I guess it didnât absorb genuine praise, knowing you were deceiving it."
Qiao Sang: "..."
Zhang Taedong thought of something and said seriously:
"I almost forgot to tell you, besides absorbing positive energy, Spectral-type Pet Beasts can sense whether the expressed emotions are genuine. If theyâre insincere, it seems to affect the energy previously absorbed, which is one of the reasons why I have studied for so long and yet no Spectral-type Pet Beast has officially evolved."
So the absorbed energy can be affected, how fascinating... If Little Treasure Hunter could really absorb this energy, I wonder what it is that lets it absorb it... Qiao Sang looked at the Little Treasure Hunter, already playing with the Spectral-type Pet Beasts, not knowing when it had drifted over.
"Ring Ring?"
Suddenly, a Spectral-type Pet Beast about a meter in size, purple and red in color, shaped like a wreath, floated to Yaobaoâs side, pointed at the Pet Beast Egg it was holding, and called out.
"Ya Ya!"
Yaobao protected the Pet Beast Egg, bared its teeth at the wreath-shaped Pet Beast, showing a fierce expression, and called out.
The wreath-shaped Pet Beast trembled all over, showing a scared expression, and vanished into invisibility.
"Ya Ya..."
Yaobao relaxed.
The Ring-Eating Ghost dislikes absorbing negative emotional energy and prefers eating food, even food unrelated to the Spectral Series, especially Pet Beast Eggs. Itâs said that once theyâve laid a Pet Beast Egg, breeders must immediately separate them from it to prevent them from eating it... Qiao Sangâs mind flashed with information about the wreath-shaped Pet Beast.
Good heavens, was that Ring-Eating Ghost just asking if it could eat the Pet Beast Egg...
Zhang Taedong witnessed this scene, his gaze falling on the Pet Beast Egg, and asked:
"This egg is?"
Despite his experience, he couldnât immediately recognize what creature lay inside this Pet Beast Egg.
"Itâs the championship reward from the Zhongkong Region competition." Qiao Sang replied.
Zhang Taedong showed a look of realization.
He wasnât particularly interested in Pet Beasts outside the Spectral Series; even though he didnât recognize what Pet Beast was inside the egg, he knew it wasnât a Spectral-type Pet Beast.
Then he thought of something and asked:
"Are you planning to make it your next Pet Beast?"
Qiao Sang replied honestly: "I havenât decided yet; I need to wait until it hatches and see if we click."
Zhang Taedong laughed and said:
"If you plan to contract the next Pet Beast, I do think thereâs one that suits you."
The next one... I just became a B-level Beastmaster, so who knows when Iâll contract the next... Qiao Sang asked:
"What Pet Beast?"
Zhang Taedong put away his smile, and said seriously:
"Spirit Crossing Cat."
Spirit Crossing Cat? Qiao Sang was taken aback.
She found that despite her vast knowledge, she didnât know what a Spirit Crossing Cat was.
Zhang Taedong noticed Qiao Sangâs lack of major reaction and suddenly remembered something, saying with a complex expression:
"I almost forgot you contracted the Zhongkong Regionâs legendary Pet Beast Qingyin Fairy."
What does that have to do with my contract with Qingbao? Qiao Sang looked puzzled.
Zhang Taedong continued:
"Spirit Crossing Cat, a Spectral-type Pet Beast, is said to guide souls, allowing beings to reincarnate into the desired form, with a species potential limit of Venerable Level."
"Venerable Level?" Qiao Sangâs voice suddenly rose.
Venerable Level, above the Emperor Level, second only to the Divine Level.
Now she understood why the other person mentioned Qingbao earlier.
She had to admit, after contracting Qingbao, she became much calmer about these ultra-rare Pet Beasts.
Zhang Taedong, seeing Qiao Sangâs reaction, laughed again, saying:
"Exactly, itâs Venerable Level. A Spirit Crossing Cat appeared recently in Xi Han City; quite a few Professional Beast Tamers are heading there. You could try your luck."
Xi Han City? Why does this name sound so familiar? Qiao Sang thought for a moment and exclaimed:
"That Xi Han City, one of the top ten ghost towns?"
"Yes, thatâs the place." Zhang Taedong nodded.
Qiao Sang couldnât help but say:
"Isnât it a ghost town? Arenât they afraid?"
Zhang Taedong immediately laughed:
"For people from other regions, it might be frightening, but for us in the Zitiya Region, ghost towns arenât particularly terrifying, at most, they have more Spectral-type Pet Beasts who enjoy playing pranks."
