Chapter 324: Hoping Her Family Can Bail Her Out

“What is he even talking about?” Someone asked, confused.

“An endangered beast! Qiao Sang’s third contracted beast is actually an endangered species!” Another contestant, having just looked up the information, was visibly trembling with excitement, his face red and his voice trembling.

This exclamation was like a lit firecracker, it stunned the audience for a moment before completely igniting the excitement.

From parents to students, from officials to contestants, and from casual onlookers to beastmasters, everyone was in an uproar.

The entire venue of Huicheng Beastmaster High School erupted into deafening chaos.

“Holy crap... Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!”

“An endangered beast?! Is it really the kind I think it is?!”

“This can’t be happening!” Old Li, seated at the back of the audience, blurted out instinctively, his voice shaking.

“Whoa, dude, you scared me!” The person sitting next to him, startled, patted his chest before speaking in a more understanding tone.

“I know it’s hard to believe. I couldn’t believe it either, but I just looked it up. It really is an endangered beast, and it’s from the Ancient Guwu Region.”

A high schooler contracting an endangered beast from another region, how was that even reasonable?

Not even in his wildest dreams could Old Li have imagined such a thing. Yet, the incredulous whispers and murmurs around him told him it was the truth.

Hands trembling, he took out his phone and searched for Ice Qiya.

He found it!

Opening an image, he shakily compared the picture to the pale blue beast on the field.

But just then, the battlefield was suddenly shrouded in thick, white mist, and the pale blue creature vanished from sight.

Panic erupted once again.

“Where’s Ice Qiya?!”

“My Ice Qiya's gone!”

“Help! The endangered beast disappeared!”

“Call the authorities, quickly!”

“Relax! The information says Ice Qiya has a water melting trait, it must have blended into the water!”

“But there’s no water on the battlefield!”

“It’s a water-type beast; it can create water!”

Sure enough, as the mist cleared, traces of water could be seen on the ground, where Ice Qiya had apparently melted in and hidden.

Qiao Sang remained calm, observing the scene.

To be brutally honest, Lubao was indeed the weakest of her three beasts.

During the preliminaries, when she wasn’t sure of her opponents’ abilities, she relied on Yabao and Little Treasure for guaranteed wins.

Now, having studied the top scorers from across the province, she knew Yabao and Little Treasure could handle most of them. But Lubao was another story, she still lacked the experience.

Lubao’s Healing Light could restore her state, but it didn’t replenish her energy. A beast with no energy could only take hits.

Simply put, Healing Light wasn’t some almighty restorative skill.

It was like playing a game: Having a full health bar but no mana was no better than being a minion.

Moreover, once the mana was depleted, even the health bar couldn’t be refilled.

As the National Campus Beast Mastering League progressed from provincial to regional to national levels over three months, the opponents would only grow stronger.

Lubao desperately needed more battle experience to improve quickly.

Xu Yixuan was the perfect opponent. Though she often slacked off during training, she could quickly adapt to an opponent’s strength during matches.

Now that it was an official group match, she would undoubtedly take it seriously, just as she had promised.

Watching the battlefield, Qiao Sang suddenly called out, “Now!”

“Lu!”

From a small puddle behind the Blaze Dog, Lubao suddenly leaped out. Her water-clad tail lashed out fiercely.

Without waiting for instructions, the Blaze Dog split into two, creating a shadow clone just in time to evade the attack.

The Water Tail hit empty air.

Xu Yixuan was visibly conflicted.

On one hand, she couldn’t bring herself to harm the endangered Ice Qiya, fearing she’d end up at the police station if anything went wrong.

On the other hand, this was her final chance to compete in the National Campus Beast Mastering League. She owed it to herself and her opponent to take it seriously.

“Yap!”

The Blaze Dog barked resolutely, snapping her out of her hesitation.

Taking a deep breath, she nodded. This was why she had trained so hard.

Let’s just hope my family can bail me out later!

“Flame Charge!”

Both Blaze Dogs were suddenly engulfed in flames and charged furiously toward Ice Qiya.

As they closed in, Lubao remained unfazed. With a graceful leap, she vanished once again.

One of the Blaze Dogs crashed into a boulder, shattering it into fragments.

The scattered water left by Ice Qiya caught Xu Yixuan’s eye. She quickly issued a command:

“Fire at the ground!”

Simultaneously, Qiao Sang shouted, “The one on the left!”

It was well-known that shadow clones were fragile and would disappear upon taking damage. The left Blaze Dog, however, had just shattered a boulder without vanishing.

There were only two possibilities: It was either a substitute or the real body.

Having trained together, Qiao Sang knew Xu Yixuan’s Blaze Dog didn’t know the substitute technique. The left one was undoubtedly the real body.

“Lu!”

Lubao suddenly emerged behind the left Blaze Dog, her water-clad tail striking decisively.

The Blaze Dog, mid-attack, couldn’t dodge in time and let out a pained yelp as the tail hit home. The other Blaze Dog vanished immediately, revealing the real one’s defeat.

Having struck the Blaze Dog, Lubao’s expression subtly shifted into what could only be described as a smug grin.

This smugness threw the entire audience into chaos once again.
