Chapter 617: Born to Act

Sylvia stared at the young girl in front of her, both shocked and bewildered. She had considered the possibility that her own knowledge was lacking, that she simply didn’t recognize this pet.

She had also thought that perhaps the pet was too rare, so rare that it wasn’t even known in the general market. But she had never imagined that both the pet and the girl herself weren’t even from Chaosu Star.

“I have a request.” The director said.

“Would you be willing to let your pet make a cameo in my film?”

She didn’t want to agree, not because she didn’t want Yabao to experience something new, but because the college entrance exams were coming up soon. She simply couldn’t spare the time to take on an acting role.

But if she refused, what if the director got upset and decided not to help her with the Dream Projection?

The director, being experienced in reading people, immediately noticed Qiao Sang’s hesitation and quickly added, “The role is very small, just two scenes. If you’re short on time, we can start filming right now! I guarantee we’ll finish within an hour. After the shoot, besides helping you with Dream Projection, I’ll also pay you a small appearance fee.”

He looked at her expectantly, waiting for her answer.

The assistant director beside him was just as eager. He already knew exactly which role the director had in mind.

The role had originally been assigned to another pet, but this Blue Star pet was clearly a better fit.

Two short scenes, finished within an hour… that didn’t sound too bad

Yabao wagged his tail, looking excited and ready to go.

Although he usually watched battles, Little Treasure often watched all kinds of TV dramas and movies. The thought of getting his own epic entrance scene, maybe breathing fire and wiping out enemies in one go, made Yabao quite enthusiastic about the idea.

The director smiled and explained, “The role is of a pet that makes a stunning first impression on the protagonist. When the protagonist was still an ordinary person, he accidentally caught a glimpse of this pet, and the sight of it left a lasting mark on his memory. Later, he researched extensively but never found any information about the pet. The first scene is simply this pet appearing in front of the protagonist for a moment.”

“And the second scene?” Qiao Sang asked.

The director cleared his throat.

“The second scene is when the protagonist encounters the pet again. By then, the protagonist has already become a B-rank Beast Tamer and has kept an empty contract page, hoping to tame this very pet. But when they finally reunite, the protagonist sees it losing a battle to a wild pet. Feeling that the pet is too weak, the protagonist gives up on contracting it and chooses another pet instead.”

“Yap yap!”

Yabao’s tail drooped as he let out a dissatisfied whine.

He did not want to play such a weak role.

“Xun Xun!”

Before Qiao Sang could even try to diplomatically translate Yabao’s reluctance, Little Treasure suddenly revealed himself, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he eagerly raised a paw.

If Big Bro Yabao didn’t want to act, je was more than happy to take the role!

The director flinched at the sudden appearance of the ghost-type pet but quickly regained his composure.

“Is this your pet?” He asked, noticing the identification bracelet on Little Treasure.

Qiao Sang hummed in confirmation.

“Also from Blue Star?” The director pressed further.

“Yes.” Qiao Sang nodded.

The director’s eyes lit up as he carefully examined the unique ghost-type pet.

Qiao Sang took the opportunity to say, “Director, could we swap the role for my Ghost Ring Phantom? He’s more interested in acting.”

“Xun Xun!"

Little Treasure nodded enthusiastically.

The director hesitated for only a moment before making a decisive call.

“That’s fine!”

The character was meant to be a rare and unseen pet, one that the protagonist could never find in any records. And wasn’t a Blue Star pet exactly that, something completely foreign and unknown to Chaosu Star?

“Xun Xun~”

Little Treasure happily floated in a circle, clearly thrilled.

Then, he suddenly paused and looked at the director with curiosity.

“Xun Xun?”

When will this movie be released? When can it see itself on TV?

Qiao Sang held back a laugh and translated.

The director pondered for a moment and replied, “If everything goes smoothly, it should be out in about six months. Since you’re friends with Sylvia, she’ll definitely notify you when it’s released.”

“Of course.” Sylvia said with a smile.

Looks like I should exchange contact information with her after this

With everything settled, the director eagerly set up the first scene.

The first shot was simple, Little Treasure just had to float past the protagonist and turn his head to show his face.

“Action!” The director called.

Little Treasure slowly drifted forward. As he passed by the lead actor, he gracefully turned his head and… winked.

Turning his head was fine, but why did he wink?

Qiao Sang covered her face, feeling second-hand embarrassment.

To her surprise, the director exclaimed, “Perfect!”

“Yap yap…”

Yabao sighed in relief. Good thing he hadn’t taken this role, there was no way he could’ve pulled that off.

The first scene was completed in one take.

The second scene was the battle sequence.

Of course, the fight was staged. Having watched plenty of dramas, Little Treasure instinctively knew how to act, when hit by a fake Leaf Blade attack, he dramatically fell to the ground.

Then, he spotted the protagonist.

“Xun Xun…”

Little Treasure lay trembling, reaching out a paw toward the protagonist. Before the protagonist could step closer, he let out a final shudder, closed his eyes, and let his paw drop limply.

“Fantastic!” The director clapped enthusiastically.

“That was brilliant acting!”

The lead actor quietly stepped aside, knowing full well that the praise wasn’t directed at him.

“Xun Xun~”

Little Treasure floated over to his Beast Tamer, looking smug as if to say, That

was just average for me.

The director turned to Qiao Sang and said with admiration, “Your Ghost Ring Phantom is born to be an actor.”

He’s also born to be a student…

Qiao Sang chuckled.

“He just really enjoys watching TV shows and movies.”

“Liking shows and being able to act are two different things.” The director replied cheerfully.

“No amount of watching can help a pet without talent. Anyway, let’s go. You’re still waiting for the Dream Projection, right?”

Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up.

Finally, the moment had arrived!

They moved to a spacious, empty office.

Sylvia followed them in.

Qiao Sang placed Yabao on the floor, then turned to Little Treasure with a serious expression.

“Take out the Dream Enlightenment Stone.”

“Xun Xun~”

Little Treasure chirped in understanding, then reached into his ghostly ring and rummaged around.

A moment later, he pulled out a small, square, blue box.

“Yap yap…”

Yabao was both nervous and excited.

He knew just how important this was.

His Beast Tamer had worked so hard to earn points, all for this moment.
