"Master, Master... A letter from Senior Brother!"
On Blood Sin Peak of the Wandao Sect, Yu Yunwei ran into her masterās courtyard, holding a letter.
"So that brat still remembers to write to us, huh? Let me see." Blood Demon yawned and took the letter from Yu Yunwei.
"Master, what did Senior Brother write?" Yu Yunwei asked curiously.
"Your senior brother says heās doing fine and that we shouldnāt worry. He tells you to get along with Si Li and not throw little tantrums. Most importantly, he says you shouldnāt watch me all the timeāif I want to drink, you must let me. And he wants you to buy more Erotic Paintings for me to relieve my boredom."
Blood Demon spouted this nonsense with a completely straight face.
Hearing her masterās words, Yu Yunwei didnāt believe a word of it.
She snatched the letter right out of her masterās hand and read it for herself. "Youāre lying, Master! Senior Brother specifically told me to keep an eye on you, not let you drink too much, and make you read more normal books!"
"Tsk. Your senior brother really is a busybody," Blood Demon grumbled, turning her head away.
"Oh, right." As if remembering something, Blood Demon handed a scroll to Yu Yunwei. "Take a look at this. Itās the latest edition of the Hundred Affairs Scroll. Thereās news about your senior brother inside."
Hearing that the latest Hundred Affairs Scroll was out, Yu Yunwei eagerly took it and began to read intently.
The Hundred Affairs Scroll was a publication compiled by the Mountain and Sea Sect, chronicling major events throughout the Western Regions.
It was generally published once every two years.
The last time Yu Yunwei saw the Hundred Affairs Scroll, she learned that her senior brother had passed through the Chaos Secret Realm and obtained Chaos, one of the Four Ancient Fierce Beasts.
Back then, Yu Yunwei had been overjoyed for Xiao Mo for quite some time.
This time, however, the more Yu Yunwei read, the darker her expression grew, her face tinged with anger.
"These bastards! What gives them the right to say such things about my Senior Brother?! Slander! Itās all slander! Iāll kill every last one of them!"
Furious, Yu Yunwei slammed the scroll onto the table. Her chest heaved violently, and she looked for all the world like a feisty little hen.
"What news has you so worked up?"
Blood Demon took the Hundred Affairs Scroll.
As she read the extensive coverage about Xiao Mo in the Hundred Affairs Scroll, Blood Demonās eyes blinked rapidly. She seemed a bit stunnedā
"The Mad Demon of the Western Regions?"
"The foremost figure of the Western Regionsā future?"
"A fiend who kills without batting an eye and must drink the fresh blood of a hundred people daily?"
"Hahahaha..." The more she read, the harder Blood Demon laughed, until she was doubled over and tears streamed down her face. "When did his reputation get this bad? He sounds more like a demon lord than I do! Hahaha..."
"Master..." Yu Yunwei lightly bit her lip.
"Alright, alright, hold on. I havenāt finished reading yet."
Blood Demon flicked her disciple between the eyebrows and continued reading.
"Oho, the kidās not bad. To think heās already reached the Jade Realm."
"Hm? He wiped out fifty Demon Sects in two years? Not bad."
"Heās even killed five or six cultivators at the Immortal Realm? Not bad at all. Heās got some real skill."
"Spending his nights in revelry with that female monk? Now thatās interesting~"
"Thatās definitely fake!" Yu Yunwei snapped, snatching the Hundred Affairs Scroll from her masterās hand. "Senior Brother would never be like that!"
"Whatās wrong? Jealous?" Blood Demon asked, eyeing her disciple with amusement.
"No." Yu Yunwei turned her head away.
"And you say youāre not." Blood Demon poked Yu Yunwei between the eyebrows. "You got a little jealous when that young girl with the Yin-Yang Eye showed up. And when Si Li came to Blood Sin Peak and said she was here for your Senior Brother, you nearly started a fight with her."
"Master... Iām ignoring you now..." With her cheeks blushing, Yu Yunwei clutched the hem of her skirt and turned away.
"Alright, alright," Blood Demon said with a laugh. "Donāt worry. Your senior brother is clueless when it comes to women. Heās only interested in cultivating. When he gets back, how about I play matchmaker for the two of you?"
"P-Play matchmaker?" Yu Yunwei froze for a second. An image immediately flooded her mind: she was in a wedding gown, exchanging vows with her Senior Brother, and entering the bridal chamber with him.
Before she knew it, the blush on Yu Yunweiās cheeks had spread all the way to her collarbone. A few wisps of white steam even seemed to rise from the top of her head.
"Master, stop teasing... Senior Brother and I... Oh..." Yu Yunwei exclaimed bashfully and ran out of the courtyard, looking utterly delighted.
āThat pair of disciples...ā
Watching her discipleās retreating figure, Blood Demon couldnāt help but shake her head.
Still, this was nice.
At least when she was gone, they would have each other for company and wouldnāt be lonely.
Blood Demon returned her attention to the Hundred Affairs Scroll, reading about the other major events unfolding in the Western Regions.
The vast majority of events over the past two years centered on Xiao Mo.
For instance, because Xiao Mo had been so outrageously bold lately, wiping out other sects from time to time, he had made a great number of enemies.
A number of sect Cultivators had already formed an "Anti-Demon Alliance" of sorts and were plotting a campaign against Xiao Mo.
The Emperor Beast Sect had previously spearheaded an alliance to kill Xiao Mo, but the plan was temporarily abandoned because the cost was too great.
But now, the Demon Sects that had offended Xiao Mo were discovering that even if they had let the matter drop, Xiao Mo had no intention of letting *them* off the hook.
The annihilated Demon Sects were the best proof of that.
So they had decided that rather than wait for Xiao Mo to destroy them in the future, it was better to take the initiative and strike first.
Blood Demon, for her part, was unconcerned.
āAs long as no one from the Ascension Realm gets involved, that boy will be fine.ā
āBut I may need to go knock some sense into a few old fossils. Otherwise, theyāll really start to think my disciple has no one backing him.ā
Blood Demon decided she would make a trip out when the time was right.
āBesides, what kind of master would I be if I did nothing? Iād lose all credibility.ā
"Hm?"
As Blood Demon continued to read the Hundred Affairs Scroll, her brow furrowed.
Blood Demon shot to her feet, took out an ink brush, and began marking locations on the Hundred Affairs Scroll. She then pulled out previous editions of the scroll and began searching for similar reports.
āCould it be...ā
Looking at the various locations she had circled, Blood Demon grabbed the Hundred Affairs Scroll and shot out of Blood Sin Peak.
...
ćIn a courtyard of the Spirit Treasure Pavilion.ć
Qing Yuan had been toiling for a long time at the Weapon Casting Pool. After bathing in the Spiritual Spring to wash away the sweat and changing into a fresh set of clothes, she was just about to head back to her room to rest when she sensed a familiar aura flying her way.
Qing Yuan sighed and turned around in resignation. Just then, Blood Demon flew into the courtyard.
"To what do I owe the pleasure, Blood Demon Fairy?"
Qing Yuan asked, her tone clipped.
āDoes this woman have any idea how hard Iāve been working these past few years, forging her sword day and night without a momentās rest?ā
"Qing Yuan!"
Blood Demon grabbed Qing Yuanās hand, her expression alight with excitement.
"Iāve found Master!"
