“Do we stay in the same room or keep it separate?” Yu Bing asked, not acknowledging his mocking tone.

He didn’t want to fight with Yu Shan about the small stuff- there really wasn’t much to talk to him about in the first place, since the guy had always gone against him and his sister since they were kids. If it weren’t for the sake of their house, he would’ve fought with him a long time ago!

But thinking about it, Yu Shan was always trying to provoke him just to get him to fight with him- if he had won, he would say that the older brother was bullying the younger one, and if he lost he could say that he, as the little brother, was stronger than the older one. Yu Bing wouldn’t fall for that.

“You’re the son of the eldest, the heir of the house! This little brother wouldn’t dare live with someone that powerful, what if people say that I don’t have manners?” Yu Shan said normally, “I’ll have my own room!”

“Do what you want,” Yu Bing left it at that and walked over into the inn, opening a room- 203, beside Lin Yi’s. There weren’t yet a lot of people living here at the moment, so he could choose his room freely.

And at this time Qikun and Qijiu had heard the commotion as well- they both walked out and down the stairs, acting as if they were just going out.

The first person they met was Yu Bing, who had just finished moving into his room.

“Downstairs, coming up soon,” Yu Bing naturally knew his intention- Qikun would be with Yu Shan, naturally, since these were both children of non- eldest sons. They all had the mentality of taking over the heirship of their own houses.

“Let me treat you to dinner tonight? Let’s all have a feast?” Qikun knew that Yu Bing wouldn’t go for sure, but the invitation had to be made for manner’s sake.

“It’s fine, I’ve got an appointment with my friend,” Yu Bing smiled, “You guys can go with Yu Shan- he probably has time…”

“Alright, let’s meet sometime else then,” Qikun had already expected this, but when he saw Yu Bing walk up to room 201 and knock on the door he couldn’t help but frown!

Could it be that this ‘friend’ of his was Ling Yi? Then it would get really complicated- they had already just established a pretty nice friendship, too, so if Yu Bing really was friends with Ling Yi then that would mean that he wouldn’t join their alliance!

Yu Shan and Yu Bing, after all, couldn’t exist together!

“Master Kun, Yu Bing knows Ling Yi?” Qijiu had seen the scene unfolding before them as well, and was feeling uncomfortable.

“From the looks of it, I think so,” Qikun was annoyed as well, “We’ve wasted all our time with him, I didn’t think he would know Yu Bing!”

“Fine, we can’t force these things anyway, it’s not your fault, Master Kun. That’s what we get when the brothers of House Yu are at odds with each other,” Qijiu consoled.

“Yeah, I suppose so. Let’s go see Yu Shan,” Qijun nodded, putting the unhappy thoughts aside and exiting with Qijiu.

Yu Shan was just coming up as well, and waved passionately to Qikun once he saw him, “Cousin Qikun, you came already!”

“Yeah, I saw Yu Bing, so I thought you must be here as well and came out to meet you!” Qikun was evidently much more passionate when it came to this guy- this was someone he felt that he could become allies with, after all.

“Seriously? Cousin Qikun, himself, coming to greet me!” Yu Shan said insincerely.

What followed behind Yu Shan were the people from hidden House Pi, hidden House Yu, and the other sects- though Qikun didn’t know them, nor did Yu Shan. They had all just met in a nearby town and happened to go together, so there was no need to make alliances yet.

Lin Yi opened the door and saw Yu Bing, “All done? That was fast?”

“Not much to do in the first place, we’re not here for fun. No luggage,” Yu Bing smiled, “Can I come in?”

“Of course,” Lin Yi made a gesture.

Whether or not Qikun saw this, however, didn’t matter to Lin Yi- if they were trying to make alliances, why couldn’t he? It was normal for him to be more generous and open here, otherwise it would seem suspicious.

“I really didn’t think you would be here for the test- I would’ve asked my father to let Ning come if I had known!” Yu Bing said regrettably.

“She’s not even a practitioner, why would she come?” Lin Yi kept his expression calm, “Let’s not talk about that for now- you’re here for the test too?”

“What a weird question- why else would all of us come here for?” Yu Bing paused, evidently confused.

“Well, I didn’t come here for that,” Lin Yi didn’t hide anything, “I just happened to be here on another errand, and got tangled in with this whole test thing…”

“Happened to be here, what do you mean?” Yu Bing was confused, “Seriously? You didn’t come here for the test?”

“I came here to look for a certain type of medicine, to save my friend…” Lin Yi felt more secure talking to him, so he told his entire story.

“So you’re here for the Fire spirit’s fruit! But this entire area is under the jurisdiction of the Ice Palace, so if it’s something you want, I’m afraid they have already gotten their hands on it,” Yu Bing said, sighing, “Everything north of this town belongs to Ice Palace territory, so without their permission, we can’t enter. It’d just bring unnecessary trouble otherwise.”

“I’ve thought about that too, so I decided to stay here and haven’t moved until now,” Lin Yi smiled bitterly, “If I join this test, will I have the chance to get the fruit?”

“Not too sure…” Yu Bing frowned, “If the fruit really is on the mountain of the place where the test takes place, then you can try and pick it, though it would be recorded and added to your scores. In the end, everything will have to be given back to the Ice Palace anyway and can’t be kept by the individual who picked it.”

“What do you mean?” Lin Yi paused- it seemed that Yu Bing knew much more than those Zhao’s, “How much do you know about the test- can you tell me about it?”
