"Come on, Feng Tumor, move this thing," urged the overseer dressed in black, holding a whip.
The thing he referred to was a pile of discarded iron chains, piled up in a narrow passage, covered in rust, and looked like it weighed at least three hundred pounds?
Two or three people couldnât fit inside together, and one person couldnât move it. Before Feng Heguang arrived, it could only be left there idly.
"Alright."
Feng Heguang nodded, not saying much, he went directly to the pile of iron chains, grabbed a corner he could hold.
"Hey!"
Feng Heguangâs face flushed red, even the tumor on his chin was a few shades redder, as he forcibly dragged the chains out.
The three hundred pounds of chains were dragged out by him alone!
"Good job!" The onlookers cheered for him.
But that was it, everyone got back to their own work.
It wasnât until night that Feng Heguang received a dozen or so rusty copper coins, no more than anyone else.
That night, on Feng Heguangâs way home.
Several figures blocked his path, each burly and with hostile expressions, some holding simple knives.
"Feng Tumor, the dues you owe us, youâve delayed until now without paying. When do you plan on paying?"
"Isnât it once a year? Why are you collecting it after just half a year?" Feng Heguang shouted angrily.
"What, are you questioning our Overlord Saber Association?" The large, fat leader sneered, "If you canât pay, then sell that tumor daughter of yours. Sheâs still young, might fetch a few taels of silver...ugh..."
Before he could finish, his throat was gripped tightly by a hand and he was lifted into the air!
The fat manâs face turned crimson, and he desperately clawed at the hand holding him, but felt as if he was clawing at an unyielding piece of iron.
"If you dare touch my daughter, Iâll kill your whole family!" Feng Heguangâs eyes were blood-red, even the tumor on his chin seemed to emit a faint, eerie glow.
Seeing the two hundred pound fat man powerless in Feng Heguangâs grip.
The others looked at each other, not daring to act rashly.
Luckily, Feng Heguang regained his senses quickly, casually threw the fat man to the ground, and silently walked away in big strides.
Tears and snot flowed from the fat man, who lay on the ground coughing and cursing, "You cowards, didnât even help me!"
"Feng Tumor is as strong as an ox. Donât be fooled by his usual docility, when pushed, he bites!"
"Letâs go back and tell the Hall Master, this guy refuses to pay silver. I donât believe our entire Overlord Saber Association canât handle just him!"
In the dark alley, only the fat manâs vicious shouts echoed.
...
The next day.
Feng Heguang dragged his weary body home, and was shocked to find the wooden door ajar.
He ran into the house like a madman and found the young strange Daoist heâd seen yesterday, squatting and chatting with his daughter.
His daughter, Jingjing, was holding a candied hawthorn stick, her mouth covered in red syrup as she ate.
"Get out!" Feng Heguang roared at the strange Daoist.
"Brother Feng, thereâs no need for anger, Iâm not a bad person," the young Daoist smiled, "I heard a sound of someone falling inside, came in to see, and found your daughter fainted from hunger."
Upon hearing this, Feng Heguangâs face softened a bit, "What exactly do you want?"
"Brother Feng, just show me your familyâs secret technique once, and Iâm willing to offer three hundred gold," the Daoist said loudly.
"Leave, I donât have it!" Feng Heguang responded with the same impatience, driving the Daoist out the door.
"Dad, the Daoist isnât a bad man..." Jingjing said weakly.
"I know," Feng Heguang sighed, couldnât help hugging his daughter, "If youâre hungry, tell Dad, alright?"
Then he whispered to himself, "If I really gave him that thing, it would harm him..."
In the following days, the strange Daoist didnât visit again, which made Feng Heguang breathe a sigh of relief.
But the good times didnât last long.
One night coming home, he found a group of people gathered at his door, each broad-shouldered and rough-looking, brandishing knives and clubs.
The leader was a muscular man, twice Feng Heguangâs size, who said coldly, "Feng Tumor, you owe our Overlord Saber Association fees, principal is three taels, youâve delayed for half a year, with monthly interest of seventeen percent, itâs now eight taels of silver.
Today you will pay, whether you want to or not!"
Feng Heguang roared, "I have no money, you can take my life!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the muscle-bound man threw a fierce punch at him!
âBang!â
Looking at the extremely thin Feng Heguang, he met the punch without flinching, and even forced the man to retreat two steps, clutching his fist in pain.
âBang!â
Feng Heguang threw a second punch, easily knocking the man to the ground.
"Brothers, get him together!" The remaining ruffians from the Overlord Saber Association saw this, each grabbing their weapons, charging with ferocity.
Yet they didnât expect Feng Heguang, despite not having learned Martial Arts, to possess incredible strength and speed far beyond ordinary people.
He agilely dodged their weapons, and occasionally threw a punch, knocking the ruffians down one by one.
"What a bunch of useless people!" Behind the ruffians, suddenly appeared a man in tight-fitting clothes with a red string tied in his hair.
His eyes shone with divine light, temples slightly bulging, clearly a practitioner.
"Instructor Hu, it seems we need you to teach this tumor a lesson!"
"Hmph, relying only on brute strength, without skill, you could only bully those who havenât learned martial arts!"
Instructor Hu swaggered towards Feng Heguang, then with a "whoosh," executed a dragonâs tail kick straight to the opponentâs chest.
âBang!â
Feng Heguang couldnât react in time and was sent flying heavily.
Taking advantage of the momentum, Instructor Hu relentlessly attacked, his hands becoming claws and striking out with âswish swish swish,â accompanied by the âsnap snapâ sounds of his muscles and bones exerting force.
He forced Feng Heguang to retreat step by step, who could only cover his head and vital areas, barely maintaining his footing.
Behind him, the ruffians of the Overlord Saber cheered continuously.
"Once Instructor Hu makes a move, you know the result. Heâs making that monster wail!"
"Hmph, mere brute force, how could it ever comprehend the mysteries of martial arts?"
"Isnât it said that the Feng Family has a family-inherited Divine Skill?"
"That same skill that turns people into monsters, covered in tumors? I wouldnât learn it even if you offered it to me!"
"Hahaha!"
Amid the laughter of the crowd, Instructor Hu continued to press Feng Heguang, beating him until his body was covered in injuries, his tattered clothing gradually stained with blood.
Suddenly, Feng Heguangâs eyes flashed with determination, and the tumor on his chin emitted a faint red glow.
âWhoosh!â
The punch he threw suddenly accelerated, striking Instructor Huâs face unprepared!
"Ah!"
Instructor Hu screamed in pain, clutching his face.
Capitalizing on the opportunity, Feng Heguang struck another heavy blow to Instructor Huâs stomach, making his eyes almost bulge out.
Just as Feng Heguang was about to win.
"Daddy!"
The cry of a little girl, Jingjing, caused Feng Heguangâs body to stiffen.
He looked up to see his daughter in the hands of two men with sinister smiles, as if they were holding livestock.
One of the ruffians with a sharp face, wielded a glinting dagger that spun nimbly between his fingers, full of menace.
"Let her go!" Feng Heguangâs eyes were wide with rage, the tumor on his chin twitching as if it were about to explode.
"You still dare to act tough?" The ruffian suddenly held the dagger next to his daughterâs face, "Kneel for me! Or Iâll kill her!"
"Kneel!"
"Daddy!"
The cries of his daughter and the mocking laughter of the ruffians made Feng Heguangâs anger reach a boiling point, his head about to explode.
But his knees, nonetheless, began to bend.
"If at this moment, you possessed a profound martial arts skill, your daughter would be safe."
At some point, a young Daoist dressed in grey joined the scene, speaking to Feng Heguang.
His voice wasnât loud, yet somehow, everyone present could hear it clearly, and all eyes were drawn to him.
"You damn Daoist, pretending for nothing. Iâm the one holding her, what can your martial arts do?" the sharp-faced ruffian cursed.
"Is that so?"
The young Daoist raised his left hand.
From his left index finger, a red energy beam as thin as a pea suddenly shot out, piercing through the ruffianâs arm effortlessly!
"Ah!"
The ruffian screamed, dropping the little girl from his grasp.
The Daoist vanished from where he was.
By the time he reappeared, he was already beside the ruffian, holding the little girl securely in his hands.
"Martial arts, when cultivated to a certain level, can kill even across great distances." The Daoist said calmly.
Then, he raised another hand.
âShoo shoo shoo!â
Red energy beams darted back and forth in the air.
The ruffians on the scene screamed, their knees or arms being pierced, writhing on the ground in agony.
The extraordinary spectacle left Feng Heguang dumbfounded.
"Well, get lost already." The young Daoist admonished.
The ruffians helped one another and stumbled off the scene awkwardly.
"Daoist, th-thank you." Feng Heguang said with gratitude and remorse in his eyes, clearly ashamed of his prior rudeness.
"If you truly want to thank me, lend me a look at your familyâs ultimate skill. I wonât look for free."
"B-but, our familyâs martial arts can turn practitioners into monsters. I canât let it loose to harm others!" Feng Heguang gritted his teeth, finally voicing his concern.
"Didnât your great-grandfather turn out fine?"
"He was a natural genius..."
"If he could do it, so can I, and I can teach you all, so you wonât suffer from this again." The young Daoist confidently replied.
Feng Heguang stared blankly at him, speechless for a moment.
