Chapter 2262: Plans Remain Unchanged

Ling Dong walked into a room behind the auction house which was his office. Already inside the room were two people. These two were the Teleportation Stage Experts that presented the Bloodless Command Token.

When Ling Dong entered the room, he immediately bowed to the two and said, “Elder Ran, Elder Wu, did that kid really pay 400 thousand jade essences?”

One of the two smiled as he shook his head and said, “He didn’t pay with jade essences. He exchanged it for something else.” Then he handed Zhao Hai’s spatial bag to Ling Dong.

Hearing this, Ling Dong couldn’t help but stare. Then he smiled faintly and said, “I trust Elder’s eyes. I just want to see what it is.” After saying that, he received the spatial bag from the old man and then scanned it with his spiritual force.

As soon as he scanned what’s inside the bag, Ling Dong couldn’t help but stare. Then a happy expression flashed through his face. He looked at the two experts and said, “It’s Resurrection Grass. And it’s one thousand years old. It’s worth 400- no, at least it’s worth 500 thousand jade essences! We profited greatly this time.”

Elder Ran looked at Ling Dong’s expression and smiled, “When that kid bought his first two items, I thought it was strange. I immediately had someone look into his identity. He’s a member of the Blood Knife Gang. A gang that has just moved to Demonheart City. The leader of this gang disappeared not too long ago. The kid’s name is Zhao Ling. He joined the Blood Knife Gang just recently. He didn’t want to join the gang in the first place. He’s from a declining clan. Rumors say that his clan was once powerful but declined through generations. In this generation, the clan managed to nurture three talents, and Zhao Ling was one of them.”

“The three went out of the clan in hopes of restoring their clan’s glory. With a clan like this, I don’t find it strange that they can take out things like the Resurrection Grass. This Zhao Ling is indeed formidable. He didn’t tell anyone that he has Resurrection Grass. It’s clear that if their clan wants to revive itself, jade essences wouldn’t be enough. They need power. This Zhao Ling would rather use the Resurrection Grass to get the Bloodless Command Token. Then he could get the chance to be stronger once he joins the Forbidden Path Sect. For me, this is his most correct decision.”

Ling Dong nodded, then he sighed and said, “I truly underestimated today’s heroes. I didn’t expect this ordinary looking Zhao Ling to have deep plans. It’s a pity that this guy didn’t go into business. If he did, he would get rich very easily.”

Elder Wu smiled faintly and said, “This kid will bring trouble to the Blood Knife Gang. Since that black-robed man threatened him, he would certainly check his identity. Zhao Ling knew that people would go after his connections. Even if the Blood Knife Gang suffers, he won’t give up. He would rather bide his time and retaliate when possible. Such people are terrifying. They will give up a lot of things in order to attain their goal. Even if you kill their family in front of them, they wouldn’t flinch. But once they get the ability to take action, they will return the favor tenfold, or even a hundredfold.”

Ling Dong nodded, then he sighed and said, “Elder Wu, do you think we should get in touch with Zhao Ling? When necessary, we can offer some help. With his ability, if he survives the Blood Demon Trial, his gang and his clan will have limitless futures. If we get into his good graces now, then we will benefit later on.”

The reason Ling Dong said this was because they were actually people of the Forbidden Path Sect. But because their potential was limited, they were sent out by the sect to collect wealth. Although they made great contributions to the sect, the sect really values those who are talented and can go further on the road of cultivation. Any disciple with good talent was a superior person in the sect. If anyone affiliated with the Forbidden Path Sect doesn’t want to get bullied, they would need to invest in promising disciples. Then once this disciple becomes a powerful expert, they would have a back inside the sect.

When Elder Wu and Elder Ran heard Ling Dong’s proposal, they couldn’t help but think about it. After a while, Elder Wu nodded and said, “We can do that. Try getting in touch with Zhao Ling first. Then we can make a decision.”

Elder Ran also agreed as he said, “Now Zhao Ling should be concerned about two things, the Blood Knife Gang and his clan. His clan is too far away, so there’s nothing to worry about them. Nobody would go such a long distance to hold his clan hostage. What he should be most worried about should be the Blood Knife Gang. If we want to back him, we might as well help the Blood Knife Gang. This way, Zhao Ling will remember this favor.”

Ling Dong nodded, “No matter what, we should get in touch with Zhao Ling first. Right, increase the security of Windchase Town. Make sure that nobody causes any trouble. If somebody dares to make any noise, execute them.”

Although Ling Dong already left Demonheart City and the headquarters of the Forbidden Path Sect, he still has a lot of influence in the sect due to his talent in making money. He was even assigned to be in charge of the sect’s branch hall in Windchase Town. With his status, it wasn’t strange for him to issue this command.

Elder Ran and Elder Wu nodded. Then Elder Ran said, “We still don’t know about that black-robed man’s status. If anyone causes any trouble, it’s most probably him. The others won’t dare offend the Forbidden Path Sect. If they still want to exist within the sect’s territory, they will need to reign in their greed. But for that black-robed man, we still don’t know who he is, which is strange.”

Ling Dong knit his brows and said, “That black-robed man is quite strange. It’s impossible for him to be an unknown individual if he could take out so many jade essences. We need to pay attention to him.”

Elder Ran nodded, “I’ll take care of it.” Then he turned around and left. Elder Wu also stood up and left. As he looked at the two elders, Ling Dong recalled Zhao Hai and muttered, “That kid is interesting.”

At this time, Zhao Hai already followed Qin Feng back to the inn. Qin Feng didn’t say anything along the way. When they reached the inn, Qin Feng was still silent. Shopkeeper Wang saw Qin Feng’s appearance and couldn’t help but stare. He didn’t know what happened to Qin Feng to become like this. Only after he called a few times did Qin Feng respond, but he was still in a daze.

Shopkeeper Wang was worried for Qin Feng, so he turned to Zhao Hai and said, “Little Ling, what happened to him?”

Zhao Hai smiled faintly and said, “He’s fine. Uncle Wang, please prepare some dishes and wine for us. I’ll join him for a couple of cups of wine.” Although Shopkeeper Wang didn’t understand Zhao Hai, he nodded and went to prepare the dishes and wine. Before long, the food and wine were served.

Zhao Hai raised his glass and then looked at Qin Feng, “Brother Qin, do you have something to say?”

Qin Feng just stared at Zhao Hai for some time. He held his wine glass and then downed the entire thing in one go. Then he looked at Zhao Hai and said, “Did you lie to me? Are you really from the Blood Knife Gang? Why do you have so much money?”

Zhao Hai smiled faintly and said, “I didn’t lie to you. I am from the Blood Knife Gang. The reason why I can take so much money during the auction was because I didn’t pay with jade essence.”

Qin Feng stared, then he said, “Not jade essence? Impossible. If it’s not jade essence, how could the auction house give you the Bloodless Command Token?”

Zhao Hai smiled and said, “What I gave them wasn’t jade essence, but something more valuable than 400 thousand jade essences. Because of this, the auction house accepted my payment. As for the money I spent before that, hehe, that was money the gang gave me. There’s also the money the clan gave me and also my own savings.”

Qin Feng stared, “What thing would be worth so much money? Are you lying?”

Zhao Hai smiled faintly, “I’m not lying. That thing is a treasure handed down in my clan. I was prepared to exchange it for jade essences to support the clan’s development. But I thought that jade essence alone cannot lift my clan from its current state. Therefore, I traded the Bloodless Command Token for it. With the token, I can join the Forbidden Path Sect. Once I’m inside the sect, I can work hard to reach a higher position and then I can help the clan. When the time comes, the clan will restore its past glory. I’m thinking about the long term.”

Qin Feng stared, he couldn’t help but frown, “What if you failed? What if you die a year later inside the Blood Demon Realm? Why would your clan do then?”

Zhao Hai turned gloomy, then he said, “Now is not the time to think about such things. If I just sold that thing for jade essence, it won’t help the clan much. Moreover, the clan is weak right now. Having too much money will be a disaster for the clan.”

Hearing this, Qin Feng couldn’t help but become gloomy. He knew very well that Zhao Hai was right. A person with no strength cannot hold a large amount of money. This was because wealth could kill people. Those who had no strength, wealth was simply a certificate of death.

Qin Feng drank more wine before he looked at Zhao Hai, “Brother, I misunderstood you. What are you planning to do now?”

Zhao Hai smiled faintly and said, “What else can I do? I need to prepare for the trial. I need to go to Gale Canyon.”

Upon hearing Zhao Hai, Qin Feng couldn’t help but stare, then his complexion changed as he said, “That’s not a good idea. Brother, there are many eyes on you right now. If you go out now, you will be in danger. Brother, trust me on this, you cannot go out. In any case, you can now join the Forbidden Path Sect. There’s no need to put yourself in danger.”

Zhao Hai smiled bitterly as he shook his head and said, “Not going right now is the wrong choice. Don’t forget, even if I don’t need to participate in the sect’s assessment, I still need to undergo a trial a year later. I have to enter the Blood Demon Realm. With my current ability, I will just die in that realm.”

Qin Feng was stunned, then his complexion changed. He forgot about the Blood Demon Realm. Now that Zhao Hai has obtained the Bloodless Command Token, it’s impossible for him to skip the Blood Demon Realm. No cultivator could resist this temptation. But with Zhao Hai’s current strength, going to the Blood Demon Realm was a death wish. What Zhao Hai needs right now is to increase his strength. Only in this way can he have more chances of surviving inside the Blood Demon Realm.

Qin Feng drank another cup. Then he placed his cup down, his breath already smelling of liquor as he said, “Alright, I’ll accompany you wherever you go. I’ll take care of your security.”

Zhao Hai waved his hand and said, “There’s no need to join me. You will only attract unwanted attention. But before I join the Forbidden Path Sect, you better not leave Windchase Town. The people who have their eyes on me also have their eyes on you. If you leave the town, they will certainly make a move on you. Stay in the town for at least three months. Wait until I join the Forbidden Path Sect. Brother Qin, I’m afraid I’ve brought you trouble this time.”

Hearing Zhao Hai, Qin Feng stared. Then he frowned and said, “I’m fine with staying in town for three months. At worst I can stay in the inn and help Uncle Wang. What I’m worried about is you. You will be in danger once you go out.”

Zhao Hai waved his hand, then he looked around and discovered that there was nobody inside the shop. This was also the reason why he dared to tell his plan. But this time, he used voice transmission to tell Qin Feng, “Brother Qin, don’t worry. I have a powerful disguise technique. As long as I change my appearance, nobody will be able to recognize me. You don’t need to worry about me.”

Now, Qin Feng understood why Zhao Hai wouldn’t want him to accompany him. He nodded and replied with voice transmission, “Alright, then this matter is decided. However, I still think that I need to cover for you here. Let’s pretend that you went into seclusion here so that nobody will find out where you are.”
