Alexâs eyes shot up a bit, the moment he saw the description of her ability.
âSo itâs called eyes of chronos. And with it she can see fifteen seconds into the future?â
âThat honestly looks really promising. If I were to copy her ability, that means Iâll also be able to see some seconds into the future. And if I para venture break through to Rank B.... The number of seconds I can see into the future and most of its possible outcomes will increase.â
âIf I can combine this with Deathfrost Blooms... It would literally be extremely beneficial in a battle.â
He stared back at the Desire Meter and nodded his head. Itâll only be a matter of time before he achieves tonightâs quest.
Alexâs attention was then snapped back to the TV, due to the way the anime character was shouting while getting obliterated.
"I never really thought that you were the type to watch anime."
"And what type of movies did you think I like to watch?"
"Maybe something with more gore and horror. You know, that kind of stuff."
Doris shrugged and said casually with a mouthful of ice cream.
"Well I do like those kinds of stuff. But I lean more on the anime side. They are like the peakest of entertainment ever. Nothing even comes remotely close."
Alex looked surprised.
"Oh? I really didnât expect that someone like you would be such a big anime lover?"
"Yeah, well you better believe it. Especially this fight right here, itâs legendary."
Alex nodded honestly.
"Agreed."
"So whatâs your favorite character in the show?"
"Mine? I guess that would be the tall guy wearing the light brown clothes with long black hair." Doris said while scooping another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth.
"How can you like the guy? Donât get me wrong, heâs great and all. But he literally gave his enemy a healing potion to heal... My favorite is the tuff guy. The guyâs such a badass."
Doris slowly turned towards him with narrowed eyes.
"What did you just say? Well I wonât argue with you over your poor choice."
"Poor choices? The guy literally carries the entire series with pure aura alone."
"Someone that loses half his fight." Doris argued immediately.
"Yeah but he loses while looking cool," Alex countered confidently.
Doris looked at him like he had lost his mind.
"The main hero is stronger, kinder, funnier, and actually gets the job done, after they finish whooping your guys butt."
Alex scoffed.
"Yeah but at least my character has some dignity and pride."
"The main hero has dignity too!"
"He literally lets his enemies go like itâs a bargain sale."
"Because he has a good heart!"
"Because heâs stupid you mean."
Doris nearly choked on her ice cream.
"Oh no you didnât just call him stupid."
"Oh yes I did." Alex shot back with a grin, while leaning back against the couch. "Like who the hell keeps giving second chances to most of his villains, when itâs clear as day that they would never change."
Doris set her bowl down on the table with a dramatic clink, before turning her full attention to him. Her baby face that was usually indifferent, was now alive with passionate disagreement.
"Look. Kindness is not stupidity." She insisted while jabbing a spoon in his direction. "Itâs what makes him better than everyone else. He fights for his friends and the world, without needing some arrogant grudge to motivate him. Meanwhile your guy over there only gets stronger because heâs obsessed with being number one. If you ask me Iâll say heâs just being insecure."
Alex laughed, genuinely enjoying the fire in her eyes.
"Insecure? That obsession, young lady, is what pushes him to break his limits each time. Meanwhile all your hero has is plot armor and that goofy smile."
"Because he believes in people!" Doris countered, her voice rising. "He sees the good in everyone, even the bad guys."
"And thatâs why I prefer my character. He doesnât let his enemies walk away to become stronger. My guy would rather die than bow his head."
Doris stared at him for a long time, before suddenly giving a smirk.
"Oh now I see it. You like the tuff guy because heâs edgy and dramatic. Admit it."
"Maybe I do," Alex admitted with a chuckle. "But at least he has style. Your heroâs whole gimmick is just yelling about friendship and powering up."
"Hey! The yelling part is like one of the good parts, okay!" Doris protested while lightly shoving his shoulder. "Forget it, someone like you wouldnât get it."
The moment her small delicate hand touched his shoulder, Alex felt her body jolt a bit, as if she had touched a live wire with low power. Alex almost wanted to grin with joy. That small subconscious action proved that the Aura was already slowly breaking down her walls.
He checked the Desire Meter panel at the back of his mind and smiled as the numbers moved higher.

The progress was slow, but steady. And though Doris wasnât exactly the easiest of targets, the combination of late night anime binging watching, ice cream, and healthy character argument about who was best, was lowering her guard better than anything else could.
They continued arguing back and forth for nearly twenty more minutes, with none refusing to back down on who was the better character.
At one point, as unbelievable as it sounded. Doris had even stood to dramatically reenact her characterâs iconic pose, before bursting into laughter at herself. Alex even joined in, and the sound of their laughter filled the room.
Alex had to admit that even though his plan was just to keep Doris there till she succumbed to the Auraâs effect, he was actually enjoying his time with her.
Who knew that the same baby faced girl with one of the most detached faces he had ever seen, and a heart that wouldnât hesitate to kill if necessary, was actually fun to be around with.
Eventually, the show ended on a cliffhanger. Doris flopped back onto the couch, breathing slightly heavier from all the excitement and something deeper that she couldnât quite explain.
"See?" She said while pointing at the TV to distract herself. "Thatâs why I love this show. Every scene always has you itching to watch the next."
Alex nodded while turning to look at her.
"Yeah Iâll admit, it was really good. You know, youâre actually a pretty fun person to be around, at least when youâre not in serious mode."
Doris glanced at him and felt a heat burning in her core. She pressed her thighs together tightly to suppress it and picked up her nearly empty bowl of ice cream.
She took a spoon of ice cream to calm herself down and heard the grumble of Alexâs stomach, before remembering that she hadnât offered him a single taste. So she scooped up the last spoonful and offered it to him without thinking.
"Here. Peace offering. Even if your taste in character is questionable."
Alex accepted it with a smile, and deliberately made sure their fingers brushed together, causing her to tighten her legs again, as a faint blush appeared on her baby face, but she quickly looked away.

Alex looked at the rapidly rising figures on the desire meter with satisfaction. The Aura of seduction was working beautifully.
Doris occasionally stole short glances at him with desire filled eyes before shaking her head vigorously and drinking from a glass of water on the table, trying to clear her head.
âNo Doris, donât even think about it. He is Miss Nyx man, that means heâs a no go area.â
As they continued watching the next episode, the tension between them had thickened. Dorisâs breathing had grown a bit heavier than before, and she kept shifting in her seat to suppress the stupid feelings in her body.
Alex meanwhile waited for the perfect moment to strike. He couldnât exactly initiate anything yet, maybe unless he was ready to expect a tight slap, and ruin all of his hardwork.
During a particularly intense fight scene, Doris leaned forward excitedly, accidentally making her new bowl of strawberry ice cream tilt dangerously in her plump thigh.
Alex, seeing the perfect opportunity provided by the universe that looked like it was on his side today, pretended to reach over at the same time to grab the remote.
He accidentally knocked the bowl of ice cream in the process, causing some of the melted ice cream to spill directly onto her upper thighs, right where her shorts ended.
"Ah...!" Doris gasped, startled.
"Oh shit Iâm sorry!" Alex said quickly, looking really apologetic like he made a mistake. Then without giving her time to react, he leaned down with a concealed smirk on his face, and used two fingers to scoop up the melted ice cream from her meaty thigh in one smooth motion, making his restless hands brush past her inner thighs.
