James Black watched Old Sir leave in a pleased mood, eyebrow cheekily raised. It seemed Old Sir hadnât put much heart into the chess game from the start, hence he left just after a few opening moves, which was quite in line with his character.
Although he found it a bit baffling, James Black wouldnât possibly drag Old Sir back to finish the game. He sat in the study for a few seconds before following Old Sir down the stairs.
In the living room, Old Sir was in an exceptionally good mood, listening to the handsome little boy talk about school stories. Seeing James Black come down, he laughed heartily and, patting the boyâs head with meaning, said, "Donât grow up to be like your uncle, just looking at him is irritating."
The handsome little boyâs smile immediately vanished, and he stood there with a sulky face, staring at James Black without a word. In the boyâs heart, daddy and uncle were both incredibly heroic figures.
James Black ignored Old Sirâs teasing and looked around the living room, then glanced at the Great General lying next to him. The Great General was home, then where had Jane Sampson disappeared to in the blink of an eye?
"Have you seen Jane Sampson?" James Black asked Oliver Black.
"Just now, I think I saw her hurriedly go up to her room." Oliver Black took another look at James Black, then chuckled and asked," In just the blink of an eye, youâre looking for her? Are you afraid your darling wife has gone missing in the house? Wow, Chief Black, when did you suddenly change?"
"Just asking," replied James Black with an indifferent expression, not taking the bait from those teasing him.
But the man who said he was âjust askingâ turned and went straight upstairs. Behind him, Oliver Black repeated his âjust askingâ phrase, drawing out the last word in an extremely melodramatic tone.
The roomâs door was closed, and James Black turned the knob and walked straight in. Sure enough, Jane Sampson was inside the room, lying on the bed with her feet in the air, swaying back and forth.
Apparently not expecting James Black to enter so suddenly during the hot weather, she had changed into a dress, and because of her movement, the dress had slid up to her waist, revealing her black lace underpants and a pair of fair, slender legs right before James Blackâs eyes.
On such a hot day, this scene somehow made the air feel even more stifling to James Black.
James Black hadnât tried to be quiet when opening the door, and after hearing the noise, Jane Sampson slowly turned her head towards the doorway. Upon seeing it was James Black, she reflexively sat up from the bed and, with a bit of embarrassment, tugged at her skirt hem to cover her long legs again.
It was only at this time that James Black noticed Jane Sampson was sucking on a lollipop, and in her hand was her flamboyantly red fruit phone.
Was she just lying on the bed eating candy while playing with her mobile phone?
Leaving aside how she got her mobile phone back, where did she get the guts to eat candy in her room in front of him?
Seeing the woman sitting there squinting her eyes and smiling like a cat, holding her phone and arrogantly flaunting it, where did this courage come from?
"I got my phone back with my abilities, and you canât take it away again!" Jane Sampson got off the bed, her feet bare on the carpet. Apparently feeling hot, she then slowly moved her feet onto the floor next to the carpet.
Challenging James Black was a spur-of-the-moment act, spurred by the pride of retrieving her phone from Chief Blackâs hands, but after the provocation, Jane Sampson immediately regretted it.
