The terms of address between the two had always been first and last names.
Jane Sampsonās unusual behavior immediately worried James Black; he feared she might have encountered an accident, such as a kidnapping or a robbery?
"Where exactly are you in the shopping mall?" James Black asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
After hearing the name of the storefront Jane mentioned, James Black was both amused and annoyed. He guessed why Jane would suddenly call him "husband" in such an unusual manner and also understood why he was swiftly removed from her mobile phone blacklist.
The shopping mall Jane mentioned was some distance from the residential community; it was located in Capital Provinceās Wealthy District, where it was basically impossible to hail a taxi outdoors. As he wondered how Jane got there, James Black turned around to get his car.
About 15 minutes later, James Black arrived at the shopping mall Jane had mentioned. After parking his car, he asked for the location of the cold drink store Jane had talked about, and then he walked over to it.
Upon pushing the door open and entering the shop, James Black immediately spotted a person and a dogāone standing and the other lying downāin a particularly conspicuous part of the store.
"Jane Sampson," James Black called out her name at the doorway.
"James Black!" Jane swore to herself that, in this life or the last, she had never harbored such complex feelings towards James Black.
She had been staring at the door, eagerly anticipating James Blackās arrival. So when James Blackās figure appeared, she noticed right away.
Hearing James Black call her name in his deep voice, at that moment, Jane felt an overwhelming ...
Hate and love.
Jane let go of Great Generalās dog leash and ran towards James Black. She affectionately wrapped her arms around his, and then deliberately yelled out loudly, "Husband, why did it take you so long? Youāre so slow!"
James Black looked down at Jane, his eyebrows crinkling in a frown. Was her calling him "husband" ingratiating or a moment of self-reflection?
Jane didnāt care how James felt; she was determined to drag him to the cashierās counter. Then she pushed him forward, hiding behind him, and whispered softly, "Pay the bill!"
After speaking, Jane had a moment of pause, then tugged at Jamesās sleeve and asked, "Did you bring your wallet?"
"I did," James moved to the side and asked, "But did I ever agree to come here and pay your bill?"
Jane was dumbfounded; she had not expected James to reply to her like that.
"Mr. Black ..." The cashier seemed taken aback for a moment and was just about to speak when Jane interrupted him.
"James Black, if youāre not here to help me pay, then why did you come? Donāt tell me with your intelligence, you canāt guess why I called you here!" Jane bit her lip in anger, her beautiful eyes glaring at James Black, twin flames of fury burning in them.
James chuckled, then Jane heard him say infuriatingly, "Just here to watch the fun."
What!!
Here to watch the fun?
Watch the fun?
"James Black!" Jane was livid, stomping her foot and shivering with rage. "James Black! I want a divorce! Immediate divorce! Weāll do it this afternoon! No discussion!"
Jane felt that in a past life, she must have been a tomb raider who accidentally disturbed James Blackās resting place. That would explain why, in his previous life and now, he was so vindictive towards her!
In their residential community, seizing the opportunity, Jane ran with Great General as if they were people who had just been released from jail, vigorously pursuing freedom.
After she and Great General got into the car, she went straight to the cold drink store. She took the ice creams, put one on the ground for Great General and then bent down to take a bite of her own.
