Before falling asleep, Jane Sampsonās mind dwelled on the term "kept woman."
Thinking it over carefully, it didnāt seem incorrect.
The house had been bought by James Black as their bridal chamber after they had set their marriage, and everything from the utility bills to the property management fees, all were paid out of Jamesās account. Jane Sampson didnāt even know how much the community property management charged per square meter per month, nor did she have a clue how much the monthly utility bills amounted to in the house.
Although Jane Sampsonās name was also on the property certificate, she truly had no understanding of these matters.
Thinking about her recently flattened wallet and the origin of the new clothes in her wardrobe, Jane Sampson giggled under the quilt.
Hmm, it seemed like she was being kept by someone.
During the two hours she spent catching up on sleep, Jane Sampson slept deeply. The alarm clock went off several times before she was willing to crawl out of her quilt.
After washing up and leaving her room, Jane Sampson went to knock on Elizabeth Kingās door. Mona Calm and a few other actors happened to see her, and Mona called out to Jane, "Sister Jane, your assistant left early this morning."
Jane Sampson paused her knocking, not seeming too surprised.
"Mhm," Jane nodded, then smiled at Mona, "Have you guys eaten? Want to join me?"
No sooner had Jane finished speaking than the people next to Mona shook their heads continuously. Jane didnāt say much more and headed to the dining area by herself.
Jane arrived early, but the dining area was already bustling with people gathered in groups, each holding their mobile phones and murmuring about something.
"Jane! Jane Sampson! This!" Harry Humming waved at her when he saw Jane approaching, "Big Boss! Iāve saved a spot for you!"
As soon as she walked in, Jane distinctly felt the group of people around her sneaking glances at her. Their gazes were cautious yet unabashed, making Jane wonder if perhaps she hadnāt washed her face properly.
After getting her meal, Jane sat down next to Harry Humming. Seeing Jane looking perplexedly around, Harry guessed she probably didnāt know anything yet.
"Did you check Twitter this morning after you woke up?" Harry asked with a smile.
"I was so sleepy when I woke up this morning. I havenāt even touched my mobile phone. I came straight to eat breakfast after washing up," Jane shook her head. "Whatās up? Is there another explosive piece of news on Twitter?"
Harry set aside his meal, took out his mobile phone, logged into Twitter, opened the hot search, and then handed his phone to Jane with a smile, "Congratulations, youāre on the hot search again!"
Jane, confused, glanced at Harryās mobile phone. What caught her eye was a sentence.
Jane Sampsonās understated wealth flaunting isnāt quite at the level of challenging nations.
????
Jane could be said to have looked completely baffled.
"Although not quite at the level of challenging nations, not licking the yogurt lid isnāt really a big problem," Harry continued while leaning on the table and not stopping, "And not licking your fingers after potato chips isnāt really a big problem either."
Jane handed the mobile phone back to Harry and then checked Twitter on her own phone. Thatās when she discovered the origin of this hot search.
Her Twitter post from around four last night, in just a few hours, with just the number of retweets, reached more than 300,000!
And the first sentence of her Twitter post, "Although not quite at the level of challenging nations," had become a hot topic.
Only after clicking did she discover her sentence had been played with by netizens.
